VIDEO: Ellyman – Got The Money

“Got The Money” – ‘Anything you want me to do / I go do am for you. Anything you need me to do, i go do am for you…” Ellyman sings and he’s right. The Imo Records signed act latest debut remains one of his finest works and he conducted it with effortless authority.

Ellyman seems more like an audacious pioneer than one among many, he’s working hard to reposition pop as a high art. He hatched himself from a semi-translucent egg on his latest debut.

‘Got The Money’ is prove Ellyman did it his way, the track has this dance-hall feel, it’s preoccupied with fame and stardom. It’s theatrical emphasis, visual – made sense for Ellyman both for his voice and his fantastical visual taste.

He stated clearly at his Press Conference that he’s got some more materials to dish out in the coming months. A move towards singer-songwriter earnestness now – with lyrics penned by the Imo Recording act, Ellyman and visual-production by Unlimited LA shows a purposeful expression of seriousness, professionalism and maturity.

$2.1b Arms deals: Dasuki intends to call former Pres. Goodluck Jonathan as witness

Former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki, who is currently on trial for alleged mismanagement of $2.1 billion arms funds, says he intends to invite former President Goodluck Jonathan as his witness.
Jonathan has in the past condemned the charges against Dasuki, claiming that there is no way the ex-NSA could have stolen about $2.2billion funds for arms.

Dr. Jonathan said:

“We bought warships, we bought aircraft, we bought lots of weapons for the army,” he said in a recent interview at the Oxford Union in the United Kingdom.Speaking with The Nation correspondent, Mr. Ahmed Raji (SAN), the ex-NSA’s counsel, said Dasuki wanted Jonathan to testify in court on his behalf.
Raji said:

“It will be desirable for Jonathan to testify for the ex-NSA. It will throw greater light into grey areas. And it will serve the interest of Justice. It will be fantastic for him to go to court to testify. Dasuki is an agent of a disclosed and known principal.”Another member of Dasuki's legal team said:

“With what Jonathan said in London, the only logical thing for him to do is to see it through.
“We want Jonathan to follow-through. If he backs out, it will be bad.” But, in Raji’s view, a political solution will be better than trial because of the “characters involved”. He said: “But, frankly speaking, I pray for a political solution to the problem because of the characters involved.xx
“Both the accused and the government should embrace a political solution to the problem.”When asked if Dasuki was ready to proffer a political solution, he answered:

“Why not? He is. He added:
”I believe the President is very sincere. He wants to reorganise Nigeria and he deserves the support of all.
“With a political solution, Mr. President will be in good stead to overcome unnecessary distractions in order to succeed. “I pray that everybody will key into his vision and the economic challenges facing the nation.” Those point of advising a political solution is that it will not be “tidy” for Dasuki to mention all those who got money from his office. Among them, said a source, are a prominent traditional ruler in the North, who reportedly got N500 million and a former Head of State. A source, who spoke in confidence, said Dasuki’s defence team was banking on Jonathan’s testimony. The source said: “All is set for the defence of Dasuki, who is still insisting on an open trial to let Nigerians know the beneficiaries of the arms cash.

“One of those who may testify is ex-President Goodluck Jonathan whose remarks in London appeared to be the first phase of the war chest of the ex-NSA.
“You know the ex-NSA said he acted on Jonathan’s instructions in disbursing some of the cash. And from the look of things, the ex-President is now ready to accept responsibility for whatever Dasuki did.
“We believe it has reached a level that Nigerians must know what really happened, how funds were disbursed and who got what. “This is why a secret trial is not a viable option, with the way things are going.”
“So far, we have secured the consent of Jonathan to appear in court for Dasuki. This will make the trial worth it.”Dasuki had on December 13, 2015 said he disbursed the funds on Jonathan’s instructions.

The ex-NSA said:

“I wish to state as follows: That I have been publicly indicted and any statement may jeopardise my defence. Having been briefed by the EFCC investigators on why I was invited, I will answer the charges in court. As such, I do not wish to make any further statement on the matter.
“That I am aware in November (I cannot remember the exact date), my office requested the CBN to exchange N10billion from the account of the Office of National Security Adviser domiciled in CBN. The money was exchanged at $47m and some Euros which I cannot remember. The exact amount was delivered at my residence.
“The money was for delegates that attended the nomination convention for the PDP. Presidential nomination. The money was paid and sent to Hon. (Waripamowei) Dudafa (SSAP Household) and ADC(C-I-C) for distribution on the instruction of the President.
“Based on the statement of Director of Finance and Administration (Salisu), Ibrahim Wambai, and Yazidu Ibrahim, all the cash (both foreign and local) are usually given to them for official use. “I also noted the statement of Sagir Bafarawa whose company is Dalhatu Investment in which he stated that he received the sum of N4,633,000,000 from the account of the Office of the NSA. I authorised the payment . The money was for vehicles, motorcycles for youth empowerment and women sent to Saudi Arabia. I got the proposal from the President. I do not have the proposal; it should be at the office in the Villa.”

Don't drag Buhari into judges' arrest - Presidency

The Presidency has advised journalists and other Nigerians to stop linking President Muhammadu Buhari to the legal travails of some recently arrested Judges in the country.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said President Muhammadu Buhari would be the last person to authorise anybody to induce a Judge to pervert the course of justice.

Malam Shehu recalled that, despite his personal familiarity with some court Judges, the President had never used that familiarity to seek favours from them from 2003, 2007 and 2011 when he was challenging the fairness of the presidential election results during the periods in question.

The Senior Special Assistant also explained that, as a politician, Buhari had never once ever suggested to his lawyers to approach any Judge for assistance to win his cases. He said the President lives by this principle and has never deviated from it.

On the fate of the Judges facing corruption allegations, the Presidential Media Aide said the President doesn't tell Courts how to do their jobs and that anybody accused of corruption is protected by law to defend their innocence.
He explained that the purpose of the law is to punish the guilty and acquit the innocent, noting that the law projects the rights everyone.

Shehu stressed that the President doesn't have any powers to force any court to convict anybody who is innocent, arguing that in a democratic society, that cannot happen without resistance by the people.

Photos: One of the survivors of 2006 ADC plane crash in Abuja which killed 96 people tells his amazing story

On October 29th, 2006, a Boeing 737 operated by ADC Airlines crashed near the Abuja airport shortly after takeoff, claiming so many lives, including that of the then Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido.

The flight carrying 100 passengers and five crew members departed Lagos to Sokoto with an intermediate stop in Abuja.

Shortly after taking off from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, the plane crashed, broke up and caught fire in a corn field. 96 people died, including a woman working on the field, who was reportedly killed after being struck by debris from the crash.

The primary cause of the crash was bad weather but the immediate cause was the pilot's refusal to acknowledge warning given to him by the control tower not to take off due to wind shear alert.

Amid the carnage and other people who perished, nine others miraculously survived, Peter Onuka (Pictured above) was of them. Now, exactly ten years after the disaster, he has spoken for the first time about his experience. Taking to his Facebook page yesterday, October 29th, he posted photos from the crash scene, writing:

"Exactly10 years today, I was involved in a plane crash. The plane, a Boeing 737 operated by ADC Airline, was on a passenger flight from Lagos to Sokoto, via Abuja. After a short stop at Nnamdi Azikiwe airport, Abuja, the plane took off again, heading to Sokoto with 100 passengers and 5 crew members. But some seconds or a minute after take-off, the plane began to loose altitude, crashed and burst into flames. The pictures below show the remains of the plane. At least 96 people died in the crash, my heart goes to these people and their families however, out of this wreckage God brought me out alive without serious injuries. How God saved me in this crash I can't explain but I am grateful. Today, I raise an altar of praise to God. please do me a favour if you are reading this, as you take a few seconds to lift a voice of praise and thankgiving to God on my behalf. Thanks be unto God, which always causes us to triumph in Christ" Photos from the crash below...

I made you a billionaire- Obasanjo tells African's richest woman, Folorunsho Alakija

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday told Mrs Folorunsho Alakija who is Africa’s richest woman, that his administration made her among the many billionaire Nigeria presently has.

The former President who was a guest speaker at the 2016 Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Forum, said this while reacting to claims by Alakija that the Obasanjo administration frustrated her moves to explore the oil sector after getting her oil license from the lae military dictator, Sani Abacha.

According to Alakija who was also a panelist, the Obasanjo administration illegally took an oil block allocated to her company after her family had invested all its savings to strike oil in commercial quantity. Vanguard quotes her as saying
“This oil block is in 5000 feet depth of water and was extremely difficult to explore. It took 15 years from the time that we were awarded the licence in 1993 till 2008 when we struck the first oil When this event happened, 60 per cent out of our 60 per cent equity in the business, was forcefully taken from us by the government of the day without due process. We had to fight back by going to court to seek redress and it took another 12 years for justice to be served in our favour. In all those years it was my trust in God, my perseverance and the support of my family that got me going,” she said.
Obasanjo replied Alakija when he was given the microphone to speak at the event. He said
“There is a saying in my part of the world that when a proverb touches you and you failed to reply, then you are a coward. For you to come here and say that, for no cause whatsoever, you were denied what was rightfully yours, is not fair. I do not know you from Adam and there is no reason I would have denied you what rightfully belonged to you. So, you have struggled, and you have struck oil. God bless your heart. My delight is to be able to create Nigerian billionaire and I always say it that my aim, when I was in government was to create 50 Nigerian billionaires. Unfortunately I failed. I created only 25 and Madam, you are one of them” he said

"You're not in the class of dancers that have the right to talk to me" - Kaffy brushes off critic, reiterates the need for a proper structure in the dance industry

Nigeria's Dance Queen, Kaffy took to social media last week to slam artistes who disrespect dancers and all that they stand for. This caused a media storm as she said it like it is, without holding back.

She stood as the voice for other voiceless dancers who have been ill treated and oppressed and said the time has come for a proper structure to protect themselves. Now, while some people hailed her bold step, a dancer in her industry lashed out at her.

"To be honest she's guilty of the same thing she accused the artiste of doing. You can't be the only creative director/choreographer for all the artists in Nigeria,Give people opportunity," dancer Micheal Omani said.
In a tell all exclusive interview with LIB, Kaffy speaks about the situation and gives an insight that you'll find no where else. Definitely a must read! Continue below.

LIB: Your explosive lash out at artistes who disrespect dancers generated more controversy than expected. A dancer is accusing you doing this for selfish reasons. What do you have to say about this?

Omani is not in the class or category of dancers that have the right to talk to me. I have never worked with him for him to have a personal beef for me. If he's making accusations against me based on what he heard about people, that is hearsay.

LIB: He said that you need to give people opportunity and not be the only major choreographer in the dance industry. Your thoughts on this?
First of all, if you are really better than me, you are doing better than me or you know that you dance even better, i think you owe it to yourself to get to where you want to be. I do not hold anybody's destiny. All i do is create platforms. When i started doing this dance, nobody was bold enough to come outside and say they where dancers few years ago. I created platforms and give everyone an opportunity, Every single person that has made something out of dance today - passed through my path or learnt something from me till today.

LIB: He also alleged that you don't pay your dancers? Any truth to this?
For you to allege that i don't pay dancers, first of all, am i the owner of the job? We actually recently had a meeting of top choreographers that have had enough of the indiscipline of dancers. You want to earn more money but you are not ready to put more work into it. You want to be where Kaffy is, but you are not ready to suffer what Kaffy is suffering. Some of the deals i contract that have gotten me to where i am today were done out of help and sacrifice. Not all of them paid me money. Some of them have big names but terrible budgets. But these dancers don't know that. They see a high profile job, they think you've made a lot of money from it. now when you give them the same opportunity to do such a job side by side and present the budget that comes with it, they think you are cheating them.

That is even an issue that can be addressed if dancers are one. if we have dance seminars, forums or organisations or associations set up, we can discuss these things internally and fix it. But blaming me for whatever wrong happened to you or your friends is totally uncalled for.

LIB: Allegations were also made that you cut dancers, including their pay, before they climb the stage - at the last minute. What do you have to say?
"I do not cut dancers money before the stage. Who does that," Kaffy exclaims! "I have never had such a situation before. It's totally impossible because you need to plan your budget to know what you are going to pay the dancers, way ahead. We are in an industry where things are always done last minute. But not that kind of last minute that it would be behind a stage, It's not possible. If a dancer is cut before he climbs the stage, it's either he sucks, did not do well or was terrible at the last rehearsal, injured or misbehaved, i.e when they are caught in a fight. Sometimes its the artist who can make the last minute changes. Choreographers rehearse as many people as possible, so that when it comes to choosing. We wont have to spend much time. You cant buy back time. We tell the dancers, "On that day, you fit make am or you fit no make am, If the artist come, he go choose oh".. So if the artist doesn't choose you, its my fault? Its not."

"I don't cut dancers if its in my power to do so. There is a code of conduct, There are so many immoral, ethical issues that we are dealing with which these dancers are ignorant about. Then they come and complain about we their leaders are cheating them because they don't understand the structure of the business. Then when they decide to set up on their own and see the issues, they come calling back because they realized Kaffy no chop their money."

Its not all jobs that come with a lot of money. These same dancers are the ones that want more money but are not doing better, Most dancers cone with the IQ of 'I don't want to audition, You know i sabi dance, etc.' They want to be hired without auditions. I was the first person that ever paid the highest amount to any dancer in this country and when i started paying dancers in 2000/2002, i remember Very well that i started paying at least 5k per shows, People older than them collected 30/40k. I even remember negotiating 50k for a particular female dancer, who later went behind my back, slept with the artist and got paid 10k. This of course brought down her value." You tell these dancers. Especially girls, the manner in which you behave determine a lot of things. If you ace too loose around an artist, when he acts inappropriately, like smacking you in the bum, you will be wondering why. What can't they try it with me? Also, while some of the loose ones sleep with them to get the job, they eventually get disrespected but will now be vexing for me. Some of these girls do 29 to 39 videos a week. If you never blow after that, how is it Kaffy's fault?

Dancers will go and claim to clients that they taught me my Job. All because they want to collect work. Dancers I trained would say Kaffy is too expensive and that they should be hired instead for a cheaper fee.

LIB: Omani claims that you housed dancers but put them in one room and did not take care of them well. Any response to this?
'I started putting dancers in my house since i started dancing back in 1997,' Kaffy reveals. They are fed in my house and get free clothes, other stuff. 17 - 19 people at one point lived in my house. I'll go out there to seek for Jobs that they get paid for. Yet, they don't even bother to make a contribution towards the running of the home. They can't even clean themselves up. 'Common hygiene they no fit do.' Won't you one day caution them if they misbehave? 'Some don't even live in Lagos but i harbour them to help them.

"All off us dey struggle, Me sef i stay for person house, sleep for floor before. How is that a bad thing? You stay in my house, earn money. is it my own work to go to the kitchen and cook for you? or help you clean up?"
I had to send a lot of them way. There are only three of them now, that are dedicated and working based on my conditions. It is my home. I have a family. You can't come and treat my house anyhow. They sometimes play immoral truth and dare games in the living room of my house, where there are children and you expect me not to complain? When i was single, i did not condone such behaviour. Even Indian Hemp smoking has been reported by neighbours and more. Because i am trying to reform dancers. A lot of dancers i stared working with are street kids. I see that dance is what they have, but when they work with one or two clients that like them, they cut you off and make you seem like a bad person.

"You staying in one room is not a prison. I offered it you. Should i bring you into me and my husband's room? Or put you in my children's room? Sometimes i even inconvenience my kids and allow the females i trust a lot to share the room with them. I want to help you doesn't mean i want to spoon feed you. I am only trying to help you professionally and not add your personal problems to mine. When opportunities come, i will assist. But they don't come by you siting your ass down. It comes by you working your ass off."

LIB: In conclusion, you basically said it is high time to end the unethical and unprofessional way dancers are being treated. That a proper structure will be put in place to cater for other voiceless dancers who have been ill treated, marginalized or oppressed. Has this now kicked off? What is being done to secure more respect for people in the dance industry?

We are working on it right now. Lawyers are trying to figure out the name at the Corporate Affairs Corporation. People have come forward to offer support and more for any process that we need to put the structure in place, I have names out and lawyers are doing the search and will get back to me soon. Apart from that, there is a guild of Nigerian dancers that is also available, so whatever one works for you, you can join whichever. Those that hate Kaffy should not come to me. if you don't like me, you cant understand my mission and policies. The dance industry needs a system that dishes out information, awareness, seminars to educate the dancers. Even if they don't want to join a crew or company or association, at least info is online, What to do, how to read contracts, etc.

I know inside my heart that I have suffered and slaved for dancers. We are trying to create a body whereby all these policies that we need to have a better understanding between dancers - artistes, dancers - dancers, dancers - clients and more, will be actualized. Their mode of operation, ethical and professional conduct and all will be put in place. When you sign up or register, you are protected by all these policies. We are also trying to create a body whereby we would have Nigerian and International experts come in and certify you based on what you are good at. Categories will be set to determine minimum to maximum wage, to create balance in the industry.

"This is not a Kaffy thing. It's not an association of Kaffy's dancers. I will do my best. It's not unusual to have people come at you, I don't expect everyone to support me. In life there are people that like and dislike you. The fact that more than a thousand people support the motion show that it is truly needed. Those are the people I am catering for. The future will convince those that don't like my way
