Moment fire gutted Unity FM in Abakiliki while staff were in the studio (photos/video)

Fire broke out Monday at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria’s Unity FM, Abakiliki in Ebonyi.

The fire started while staff were in the studio. It destroyed the production studio but no life was lost.

NAN reported that the General Manager of the station, Mr Rex Eze, said the fire started at the production studio and burnt it completely.

Eze said the fire was caused by an electrical fault.

He said that various items, including computers, laptops, furniture, and electrical appliances were damaged by the fire.

"There was a bang shortly after our engineers changed from public power line to the generator.

“I thanked God that the fire did not affect the transmitter, the live studio and my office,” Eze said.

The Head of the Ebonyi State Fire Service, Mr Raphael Ibiam, who also confirmed the incident, described the fire outbreak as sad.

He said, however, that firemen were able to put off the fire before it could cause more damage.

'The Flash' star, Hartley Sawyer fired over racist and misogynistic tweets

Hartley Sawyer who has played Ralph Dibny a.k.a. Elongated Man on 'The Flash' for the past three seasons, has been fired from the CW series after his tweets containing misogynist and racist references surfaced few days ago.

Though Sawyer's Twitter account has been deleted, his old tweets however began to circulate at the end of May. In one of the tweets from 2012, the actor wrote;

"The only thing keeping me from doing mildly racist tweets is the knowledge that Al Sharpton would never stop complaining about me."

He also wrote in another tweet;

"Enjoyed a secret boob viewing at an audition today."

Sawyer also shared tweets which referred to assaulting women and one read "Date rape myself so I don't have to masturbate."

See more of his tweets below;

Following the outrage Sawyer's tweets incited, CW and the series producers Warner Bros Television and Berlanti Productions have confirmed his sack in a statement released on Monday June 8.

It read;

"Hartley Sawyer will not be returning for Season 7 of The Flash. In regards to Mr. Sawyer's posts on social media, we do not tolerate derogatory remarks that target any race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, or sexual orientation. Such remarks are antithetical to our values and polices, which strive and evolve to promote a safe, inclusive and productive environment for our workforce."

The Flash executive producer, Eric Wallace also shared his thought on the firing of Sawyer from the long-running Arrowverse series.

Referring to Sawyer’s social media posts, he wrote;

“They broke my heart and made me mad as hell, and they’re indicative of the larger problem in our country. Because at present, our country still accepts and protects the continual harassment — unconscious or otherwise — terrorizing and brutalizing of Black and Brown people – which is far too often fatal. That’s why our country is standing up once again and shouting “ENOUGH” to bring about active change"

Sawyer has issued an apology in which he said he is incredibly sorry, ashamed and disappointed in himself for his ignorance back then.

He wrote on Instagram

My words, irrelevant of being meant with an intent of humor, were hurtful, and unacceptable. I am ashamed I was capable of these really horrible attempts to get attention at that time. I regret them deeply.
This was not acceptable behavior. These were words I threw out at the time with no thought or recognition of the harm my words could do, and now have done today.

I am incredibly sorry, ashamed and disappointed in myself for my ignorance back then. I want to be very clear: this is not reflective of what I think or who I am now.
Years ago, thanks to friends and experiences who helped me to open my eyes, I began my journey into becoming a more responsible adult - in terms of what I say, what I do, and beyond. I've largely kept that journey private, and this is another way that I have let so many down. I still have more work to do.
But how I define myself now does not take away the impact of my words, or my responsibility for them. I am very sorry.

If your family member dies, will you die with him? Bishop Oyedepo slams Nigerian leaders again for not reopening churches (video)

Bishop David Oyedepo has again lashed out at Nigerian leaders over stalling the reopening of churches to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

According to Oyedepo, there's been no Coronavirus outbreak in states where churches have been allowed to reopen. He also compared the vulnerability of churches and markets after he alleged that religious centers were directed not to hold services for more than 1 hour while markets are allowed to open for 8 hours.

The founder of Living Faith Church a.k.a Winners Chapel also stated that there might soon be a "preaching censorship board" with the recent directives issued by leaders in the country.

Oyedepo who insisted that the "enemy" is fighting against reopening of churches, sarcastically asked if people won't go on with their lives even if a family member dies. He also recalled how he went back to school after his classmate died in class.

Billionaire and owner of Tonimas oil, Anthony Obiagboso Enukeme is dead

The Founder and Chairman of Tonimas Oil and Gas, Chief Dr. Sir Anthony Obiagboso Enukeme is reportedly dead.

The billionaire businessman died yesterday June 8, at the age of 76. National Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Ozonkpu Dr. Victor Ike Oye confirmed this in a press statement released today June 9.

It read;

APGA HAS LOST A RARE GEM: ONOWU ANTHONY ENUKEME (TONIMAS)

The news hit me like a ballistic missile. I was dazed, shocked, and thrown into a mental fixation. How can he die like that? I queried. But no answer coming from anywhere.

As I wrote this short tribute my hand was trembling. Tonimas dead? I keep asking. It can’t be. My head swirling and my heart beating in quick succession.

A good man has joined the Saints. Since I met him it has been one good act or another recorded for him. He single-handed built a church in his hometown, Neni; celebrated annual yam festival for his people, and gave generously to numerous church and philanthropic causes.

He loved APGA with passion. He attended our last National Convention in Awka where he was elected a BOT member.

Oh, Lord, my God! How do we bear this burden of the loss of one of our pillars?
I can’t continue. I am losing balance. Let me wait till the reality sinks before I can do a more befitting tribute.

Activist calls out talent manager who allegedly recorded her during sex without her consent and sent it to his brother and friends

An activist, Uche Nelo Umolu, has called out a talent manager Mayowa Balogun for allegedly recording her during sex without her consent then sharing it with his brother and friends without her knowledge.

Uche Nelo, who is the founder of The Consent Workshop, said she wasn't ready to share her story yet but she did so in outrage after Mayowa Balogun, out of fear that she was about to expose him, went on Twitter to share it first so as to earn forgiveness from Twitter users.

Nelo mentioned that before Mayowa went on Twitter to share his confession and ask for forgiveness from Twitter users, he did not reach out to her, who he offended, to ask her forgiveness. She said he had blocked her on every platform, yet took to Twitter to ask the people he didn't offend for forgiveness just so that he will not be called out if/when she shares her story.

She added that his "confession" was manipulative and made to suit his own narrative. As a result, she decided to share her story herself.

Sharing her story, she said she made a decision to have consensual sex with Mayowa Balogun. However, during sex, while her back was turned, he allegedly filmed her and sent the sex tape to his brother and friends.

She said when she asked him about it, he denied it. The following day, he gave her his phone to record him at a wedding and that's when she saw a naked video of her that he had sent to three people.

When she confronted him about it, she said he manipulated her into forgiving him.

According to Uche, when he suspected she might expose him on social media, he came out to share the story first to gain sympathy and forgiveness.

Read her story and his alleged confession below.
