Photos: Here's how UK newspapers are reporting Theresa May's resignation with 'savage' headlines

The UK media is known globally for its bold, witty and daring headlines especially when it comes to major issues and that's exactly how they are reporting the resignation of Prime Minsiter, Theresa May.

Sadly, not all the UK papers are completely sympathetic towards Theresa May and the circumstances surrounding her resignation.

See some of the headlines below...

'You have no excuse to be poor, because I have zero tolerance for poor men' - Nollywood actress, Lizzy Gold Onuwaje tells men

Nollywood actress, Lizzy Gold Onuwaje took to Instagram to tell men they have no excuse to be poor because she has zero tolerance for poor men.

She wrote: 'I 've zero tolerance for poor men..do a legit job ..work hard ..you 've no excuse to be poor.even in the bible it is stated that Man must till the ground .stop been lazy and stop depending on people to survive.. If you don't have money do not get married even my brothers are not exempted from this advice.'

In another post directed to women, she wrote: 'Ladies, pls even if you are financially independent and strong, if you don't see an average hardworking man or rich man do not marry..I repeat do not marry a poor man..marriage is not compulsory do not allow society to pressurize you into marriage..life is too short to live a sad life.'

Police release sketch of suspect in death of Chris Attoh's wife Bettie Jenifer (See photo)

Police have released a sketch of the suspected killer of Chris Attoh's wife in a Greenbelt, Maryland parking lot.

44-year-old Bettie Jenifer was shot dead in front of about 10 witnesses on May 10 as she walked from the employment agency she owned. Greenbelt police said a gunman chased her down the parking lot, shot her in front of witnesses and ran off.

Our investigators do not believe this was random,” police department spokesman George Mathews told The Associated Press at the time. “It was very brazen – it happened in broad daylight in front of multiple witnesses.”

The police released the sketch on Friday, but they haven’t named a suspect or a motive yet.

After her murder, it was revealed that Jenifer was married to two men, Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh, 39, and Kedrick Jenifer, a drug lord in Baltimore.

Mr.Kedrick has been serving a 20-year sentence for distributing at least 450 kilograms of cocaine in Baltimore and Virginia.

Only 57% out of 1.5m basic education teachers are qualified - UBEC boss

The Executive Secretary of Universal Basic Education Commission, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi has revealed that only 57 per cent of the nation’s basic education teachers are qualified.

Bobboyi also said that there was an increase from 841,716 in 2008 to 1.5 million in 2018 in the population of the teachers. He disclosed this in Kaduna on Saturday, in a paper entitled, “State of Basic Education in Nigeria: Prospect and Challenges”.

The paper was presented at the ongoing two-day policy retreat with the theme, “The State of Basic Education in Kaduna State: Prospects and Challenges”, organised by the state’s Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. The UBEC boss said that the percentage represented a decline from 76 per cent in 2008 to 57 per cent in 2018.

He said that in spite of the huge investment in the sector, basic education was still characterised by poor learning outcomes, unqualified teachers and acute infrastructure deficit among others.

He also expressed concern over the increasing rate of enrollment in basic schools, which he said was not proportional to the available infrastructure and funding.

“For example, enrolment in pre-primary school (Early Child Care Development Education) has increased from 2.1 million in 2006 to 2.7 million in 2010 and skyrocketed to 7.2 million in 2018, representing 167 per cent increase.

“Also, enrolment in primary schools, which declined from 24.2 million in 2006 to 21.9 million in 2010, equally increased to 27.9 million in 2018, indicating a 27 per cent increase. The story was no different in Junior Secretary schools where enrolment also increased from 3.6 million in 2006 to 4.6 million in 2010 and further increased to 6.8 million in 2018, representing 49 per cent increase.

He also said that enrollment in public primary schools constituted 83 per cent in contrast with 17 per cent in private primary schools.

Imo government officials are attempting to blackmail me - Governor-elect Ihedioha

The Governor-elect of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha has accused the officials of the state government of attempts to blackmail him.

At a press conference on Saturday in Owerri, the chairman of the Governor-elect’s inauguration planning and handover committee, Chris Okewulonu said that the outgoing governor, Rochas Okorocha, had not assisted the committee towards ensuring a seamless inauguration ceremony.

Okewulonu said, “In the course of our work, we met thrice with the outgoing government’s team, believing that issues agreed upon will be strictly adhered to in their implementation. But unfortunately, the reverse proved to be the case.

“Rather, we have taken note of deliberate attempts by some hirelings of the state government to blackmail the incoming governor with baseless and spurious assertions. In the last couple of weeks, the mass media have been awash that N150m was released by Governor Okorocha to the incoming governor to assist in the inauguration planning exercise.

“Let me restate for emphasis that no such money was ever released to this committee or to anybody else who is part of the incoming government of Emeka Ihedioha. We have not also received any form of assistance whatsoever from them. We are indeed piqued at futile attempts by some busybodies to take undeserved glory for the wonderful achievements, the incoming governor has recorded even before assumption of office.”??????
