Xenophobia: Dr Chris Okafor visits Nigerian victims in South Africa, donates thousands of dollars in cash

On the 8th of April 2017, Dr. Chris Okafor who was in South Africa for a mega crusade paid a courtesy call on the Nigerian consulate in Johannesburg, all in a bid to identify with the consulate and receive important briefings on the much talked about xenophobic attacks on Nigerians.

Apparently, the Consul General, Mr. Godwin A. Adama and the Minister (Consular & Immigration) at the Consulate, Mr. Anthony A. Ogbe had just returned from a visit to Polokwane, a city in the Limpopo province, about three hours drive from Johannesburg, where a Nigerian had been killed and many others critically injured in a xenophobic attack only days before.

Upon exhaustive briefing, Dr. Okafor offered prayers for peace and insisted he’d love to travel to the troubled region to show solidarity and render whatever help he could to fellow Nigerians who had fallen victims. The trip was scheduled a week later and on the 15th of April, Dr. Okafor and his team travelled to Polokwane in company of the Minister (Consular & Immigration), Mr. Anthony A. Ogbe.

Meeting point was at the Redeemed Christian Church of God building where the Nigerian victims converged to meet with the man of God.

There was Peter Idowu Kolawole who almost lost his right leg to the attack, sustaining deep machete cuts on his head- he struggled to walk with crutches; There was Kayode Showunmi, a fashion designer who only a week before the attack arrived South Africa for the first time to visit his brother, Razak Ajao- he had machete cuts all over his body and almost had his manhood cut off. The attackers also burned his international passport. He survived by the whiskers. However, his brother Razak Ajao was not so lucky- he was murdered in cold blood, leaving behind his young widow, Basirat and four children; There was Raphael Nwachukwu who like most Nigerians in the region was no longer sleeping in his home but slept wherever he felt safe around the city- he was spotted out in his new hiding place and given the beating of his life with two massive machete cuts to his head, a swollen arm and cuts to his stomach. The attackers took away his car and all his belongings in it; There was Wale Adewara, a science teacher who was also mercilessly attacked with his wife- they made away with everything they had on them; And there was a South African “Good Samaritan” who tried to stop the attackers from killing Peter Idowu. His own people, the attackers thought he was over stepping his bounds and they beat him silly, dislocating his right arm for trying to protect a Nigerian. The list goes on and on… about twenty victims in total.

Dr Chris Okafor who was completely overwhelmed with grief simply retorted

“I never knew it was this bad. Nobody should have to go through this level of horror. We are brothers and should not do this to ourselves. If blacks are killing blacks, how can we then convince the world that ‘Black Lives Matter’?” He later offered hearty prayers and made a donation of $7,000 promising to return with more money and relief materials for the victims. The community exploded with joy as, according to them, no one has ever done anything that close for them since they’ve been crying out for help.It was a brief moment of huge relief from so much pain. They thanked the man of God and prayed God’s blessings on him and his ministry.

As at the time of filing this report, it is reported that Dr. Chris Okafor is hastening to rush more cash and relief materials to the victims, whilst advising other men of God to team up with his effort in helping our devastated brothers and sisters in South Africa.

Following on the back of his first single of the year ‘Orire’ which has seen him being championed by Beat FM Lagos, Wazobia FM, Urban FM, HipTV and leading online tastemakers, emerging Lagos-bred musician Trepdee is back with his exciting new single ‘Lori Titi’ and its accompanying music video, taken from his forthcoming debut EP titled Lagos Boy With A London Dream.

Collaborating with burgeoning producer KayceLoriBeat, with SukaSound (Wizkid, Davido, Patoranking) on mixing and mastering, ‘Lori Titi’ sees Trepdee in his very element, as he pays homage to the streets of Lagos, where he was born and bred, and currently resides. The record shows off Trepdee’s lush vocals, relatable songwriting skills and captivating performance presence.

Shot on location in Iyana IPaja, Surulere and Ikorodu, and directed by fast-rising director Bash’Em, who has previously worked with Reekado Banks, 9ice and ClassiQ, among others, the visuals for ‘Lori Titi’ do well to really capture the feel and the vibe of the streets of Lagos, from the hustle to the nightlife, and the music video also bring the record further to life for fans and critics alike.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Lori Titi’, Trepdee says, “The title ‘Lori Titi’ means ‘on the streets’, it’s a very popular slang among the youth in Nigeria. One way or the other, we are all on the streets to our destination – hustling all to make ends meet. The situation I found myself trying to make moves within the music business led to me making this song”.

Expanding on the relevance and significance of the chorus on ‘Lori Titi’, Trepdee explains that, “I wanted the single to pay special homage to Bariga/Somolu, where I was born, Ketu, the central street of Lagos, Surulere, the land that made a star boy, and Ikorodu, where I currently live”. Enjoy the visuals for Trepdee’s ‘Lori Titi’ below, and look out for his debut EP this summe

Dr. Chris Okafor hails Nnamdi Kanu's bail, insists government must do more

The Charismatic General Overseer of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, aka Liberation City, has hailed the bail granted the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The man of God said “Government has done well and deserves to be praised. But they must do better.”

A few months ago, Dr. Chris Okafor had prophesied that Kanu was soon to regain his freedom followed by Sambo Dasuki. He insisted that not obeying the court order in releasing Kanu would portend grave danger for Nigeria.

According to the fiery preacher;

“what I see is very scary. I have said it before, and I’m saying it again now. The government should hasten to release Nnamdi Kanu from that place. Whatever it takes, let them just release him. I see a seemingly minor situation spiraling out of control and morphing into something that is beyond control - very scary indeed”.
The man of God said that God is giving Nigeria so many chances of survival and that those in leadership must take full advantage of it. He continues;

“If the courts have given an order for their release, please do whatever it takes to see that they are released. I specifically saw Nnamdi Kanu and Dasuki regain freedom, first. I said it months ago, but that’s not even the most disturbing part. What worries me the most is the demonic set up that the devil is trying to use these cases to rope Nigeria into. I don’t see our country coming out of it the same, if we allow it to happen. Therefore, I want to go on record right now, pleading with the authorities to please release Nnamdi Kanu and his co travelers, and in fact everyone whom the courts have asked the authorities to release. I speak not just as a concerned Nigerian, but as one who hears clearly from the Lord. We can, as a nation avert a major cataclysmic event, if we heed this call”
The man of God who happens to be the first African born clergy to win the ACCURATE SEER award is known across board for his unrivalled prophetic accuracy.

This latest warning first released during Sunday service at his headquarter church in Ojodu-Berger, a few months ago, has church members and concerned citizens on edge, wondering if Nnamdi Kanu was terminally ill and what could actually happen if he died in custody.

72-year-old grandmother graduates from the same university she dropped out from 55 years ago

72-year-old Darlene Mullins, a grandmother-of-four will be among the 800 students to graduate from Tennessee State University, TSU, on the 6th of May. Darlene will be receiving her degree 55 good years after she started at the institution.

Darlene began her studies in TSU campus in 1962, however, almost immediately, she fell in love with fellow student John Mullins, a senior from East St. Louis, Illinois, who she described as dashing, handsome and “everything to behold".
They got married and she had to quit her education to focus on her new family while John stayed on and graduated in 1964. In putting her education aside, she also had to give up on her dream of becoming an Olympic track star.
"I came to TSU because I ran track. I wanted to go to the 1964 Olympics," Darlene said. "Wilma Rudolph was my idol and I was on my way. I get to TSU and meet the great coach (Ed) Temple, but we bumped heads, because I had to make a choice between his track team or Mr. John Mullins."
When her children became a bit older, Darlene started a career in retail and cosmetology. Her husband, John, also started his own advertising/marketing business after years of working in corporate and government organizations and it turned out successful. In spite of Darlene's success in business, she felt the need to complete her education, so she decided to make it happen and John supported her fully.

"I love this woman so much and always told her whenever you are ready we will go because this is something I knew she always wanted and I will do nothing to hold her back," John said.In July 2013, the couple moved back to Nashville to allow Darlene to return to TSU and pursue a degree in interdisciplinary studies. At times, she took as many as 20 credit hours a semester, and maintained top grades. With the 25 credits she had accumulated before dropping out in 1963, Darlene is completing her college work in four years. A member of three honor societies, she is graduating summa cum laude. This May, Darlene will be among the more than 800 graduates at the undergraduate spring commencement in the William Jasper Hale Stadium on TSU’s main campus.

"My graduation from college, for me, confirms that I completed what I started more than 50 years ago,” Darlene said. “I am happy
