We didn’t plug all loopholes during our fight against corruption- ex-president Goodluck Jonathan says of his administration

Former President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday reacted to the various news of corrupt acts allegedly perpetrated by some officials who served during his administration. Speaking at the PDP non-elective convention in Abuja yesterday, Jonathan said although his administration weighed a war against corruption, it did not plug all the loopholes where finances were embezzled by some indicted officials of his administration.

"Though we didn’t completely plug the loopholes in the fight against corruption, but we did well. I learnt that some people said that if the PDP had remained in power beyond 2015, the economy would have been worse. This couldn’t have been the case, because we had a sound economic team in place" he said

Mark Zuckerberg quietly bought a German tech company that can manipulate videos

According to German media, Facebook recently bought a startup with an expertise in video manipulation. The German-based startup called 'Fayteq' has software that is able to remove or add objects in videos, even live ones, and add effects to them.

Siegfried Vater, an investor and partner of Fayteq says the company offers "innovative technologies in the area of off-line and real-time video manipulation, removing the border between reality and fiction".

This week, Facebook launched its new initiative for original video, competing with the likes of Netflix and Yuotube.

Fayteq is also known for selling plugins to video editors like Adobe After Effects that allowed video editors to track objects in videos, and then add or remove assets with the help of the tracking data

In a recent interview with The Tribune, actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie, described her husband, Prince, as a saint. According to her

"My husband is a saint. Everything. My husband is not someone you interact with, with your body. He is someone you commune with, with your soul. You just love his soul. He is everything bottled in one person. I don’t know how to explain him. My husband is the closest thing after God’s existence. I am not saying he is perfect, but l love that man too much [Sings]. Sometimes I can’t explain him"

Mercy says she is so crazy about her husband that she had to learn his language, Esan, and now she speaks it fluently.

"I speak Esan very, very well. I am crazy about my husband. I do anything that makes him happy. I understand the language to the core" she said

I'm innocent, please pray for me - Dammy Krane tells Nigerians ahead of arraignment for theft and fraud case

Embattled singer, Dammy Krane has pleaded with Nigerians to pray for him ahead of his arraignment for his alleged theft and fraud case in Maimi this week.

The 'Amin' crooner in a recent interview made the appeal to Nigerians and insisted that he is not a fraudster and that he’s only all about the music.

‘Everybody knows that I’m just all about my music. I’m a musician I don’t do flight bookings, I’m innocent of the allegation. Everyone should please pray for me to come out of this successfully,’ he said.

Dammy Krane added, ‘I’ve a hearing soon, but my lawyer tells me I don’t have to be there, like I said God is in control.

‘Everybody should just keep praying and supporting me. I did a song I recorded a day after I actually got out of jail, I was talking about all these things, especially the prayers my fans said for me.

‘I actually appreciate everybody and I put it in a song and I’m going to be dropping it soon.’

According to the Miami-Dade County Criminal Justice Online System on the Felony case against Nigerian singer, Dammy Krane indicates that his arraignment hearing take place on Thursday, August 17, 2017.

PDP clears Stella Oduah, Ifeanyi Ubah, three others for Anambra governorship primary

The Peoples Democratic Party in Abuja has screened and cleared former Aviation Minister Stella Oduah, billionaire businessman Ifeanyi Ubah, lawmaker Lynda Ikpeazu, John Emeka and Dr. Alex Obiogolu, to participate in the August 19th 2017 governorship primary election in Anambra State. At the end of the primary, whoever wins would be the PDP flagbearer in the Anambra state governorship election which is slated for November 18th.

One of the aspirants, Akolisa Ufodike, was screened out of the race for the party's ticket, on the grounds that he had dual citizenship. The Constitution specifies that anyone to run for governor in Nigeria must possess only Nigerian citizenship

Photos: Days after massacre, Ozubulu Catholic church blessed and re-dedicated to God

Days after the massacre that left 13 people dead and several others injured, His lordship, Most Rev. Hillary Odili Okeke, yesterday led other worshippers of the church to bless and rededicate the St. Philip's Catholic Church, Amakwa, Ozubulu to God.Unknown persons stormed the church during its early morning mass last week and shot some of the members dead. Three persons have been arrested in connection with the crime and are currently in police detention.

The church is expected to hold its first mass since the attack in the church premises today August 13th.

One dead and 19 injured as speeding car rams into protesters in Charlottesville

One person was killed and 19 others were injured as a speeding car slammed into counterprotesters in Charlottesville, where a "Unite the Right" rally of white nationalist and other right-wing groups had been scheduled to take place.

Charlottesville Police Chief Al Thomas said a man was in custody and a 32-year-old woman was killed while walking across the street during the atttack.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe said to the terrorists in his statement, 'go home, you are not wanted in this great commonwealth. Shame on you."

In addition to the one death and 19 injuries in the car-ramming incident, the city said there were at least 15 other injuries associated with the scheduled rally.

The rally was the latest event drawing white nationalists and right-wing activists from across the United States to a development precipitated by the city's decision to remove symbols of its Confederate past.
