Mojo – Baddo

After successfully releasing his mixtape Head Of States earlier, Mojo appears to be in the mood to release more gems for 2017 as he presents his first freestyle this year as a warm up for his upcoming projects. Entitled “Baddo,” the “Kendrick Lamar” instrumental track is allegedly this year’s intro and offers another interesting recount of Mojo’s lyrical strength and firm stance in the industry. Or to put it in his words, “A freestyle that I felt the need to share. Not my single. Just a piece of my story.

Girlfriend is accused of manslaughter for sending her vulnerable boyfriend messages encouraging him to kill himself

Michelle Carter, 20, was charged with manslaughter for sending her “vulnerable” boyfriend text messages encouraging him to kill himself. Michelle was charged over the 2014 death of 18-year-old Conrad Roy III.

Conrad was found dead of carbon monoxide poisoning in his pickup truck. After his death, text messages Michelle, who was 17 at the time, sent to Conrad were discovered and released by prosecutors.

In one, she allegedly wrote:

“The time is right and you’re ready, you just need to do it!”Days before the suicide, prosecutors say Michelle wrote:

“Don’t be scared. You’re finally to be happy in Heaven. When are you going to do it? Stop ignoring the question? You can’t keep pushing it off" Prosecutors claimed Michelle texted Conrad. The court heard that Michelle and Conrad exchanged more than 20,000 text messages, with more than 1,000 of those messages sent in the days leading up to Conrad’s death. Dozens of those text messages were encouraging him to take his own life.

Michelle’s lawyer said that his client's texts to Conrad are protected by free speech. He also said that Conrad was depressed and had previously tried to kill himself. He argued that Michelle tried repeatedly to talk him out of committing suicide and only began to support the “suicide” plan when it became clear he would not change his mind. In the hour before his death, it is claimed he was on the phone with Michelle for 47 minutes, at one point telling her he was getting out of the truck because he feared “it wasn’t working.”

Prosecutor MaryClare Flynn was not convinced by that argument and said:

“The car was filling up, and he was scared. She told him to get back in the car.”
Michelle has waived her right to trial by jury. She broke down in tears as she came before the Taunton Trial Court, Massachusetts, as she took the stand to tell Judge Lawrence Moniz she was happy for him to decide the case.

Photos: EFCC arraigns three ‘Ghost Workers’ for N9.7m fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today arraigned the trio of Onukaogu Onyinyechi Esther, Ebenuwa Chinazo Jennifer and Onukaogu Joshua before Justice A. S. Adepoju of the FCT High court sitting in Wuse, Abuja, on a 13-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence.
Esther allegedly abused her office while being a staff of Soft Alliance, consultants to the office of the Auditor General of the Federation on IPPIS between 2012 and 2013, to input her name and two of her siblings (Jennifer and Joshua) into the IPPIS database as staff of Federal Ministry of Education and Federal Ministry of Works respectively, for the purpose of receiving salaries from the federal government.
Esther and her co-defendants were said to have drawn salaries as ghost workers from their ‘respective ministries’ for three years, to the tune of N9million before the law caught up with them.

The offence breaches Section 1 (1) (a) and is punishable under Section 1 (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, No. 14, 2006.
Count six of the charge reads:

“That you Onukaogu Onyinyechi Esther and Onukaogu Joshua between January 2014 and December 2014, at Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with the intention to defraud, obtained the sum of N1,860,865.72 (One Million, Eight Hundred and Sixty Thousand, Eight
Hundred and Sixty Five naira, Seventy Two Kobo, only), from the Federal government of Nigeria, under the false pretence that Onukaogu Joshua is a civil servant working in the Federal Ministry of Education, which pretence you knew to be false”.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In view of their pleas, counsel to EFCC, Elizabeth Alabi, urged the court to fix a date for trial and to remand the suspects in prison custody.
But, the defence counsel, M. M. Hirse, informed the court that he had pending applications for the bail of the defendants.
Responding, Alabi urged the court to refuse the application adding that, “they were once granted bail and they jumped it”.

However, Justice Adepoju opined that “the purpose of bail is to secure the attendance of the defendants in court. It is their constitutional right to be granted bail.

The judge, therefore, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N5million with one surety each in like sum. The sureties must be civil servants not below salary grade level ten.

The matter has been adjourned to September 21, 2017 for hearing.
Meanwhile, the defendants are to be remanded in EFCC custody pending the perfection of their bail conditions.

I have sold 20 children in two years" 22-year-old female child trafficker arrested in Anambra

A 22-year-old woman arrested by the Special Armed Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Anambra State Police Command has confessed to having sold 20 children since she went into child trafficking business. Most of the children she sold between N150,000 - N200,000, were kidnapped on their way home from school. The suspect, Chinaza Onwuasoanya was impregnated by her boyfriend in Lagos and returned to Anambra State to have the baby after which she sold the child to a 45-year-old woman, Goodness, who runs an orphanage, which the police allege was a cover for a baby trafficking operation.

Onwuasoanya sold her newborn baby girl to Goodness, in exchange for the sum of N150,000. On realizing that she could make easy money from selling children, she moved into child-trafficking. Recounting her journey into child-trafficking, Onwuasoanya told Sunday Sun, she said:
"I got into child trafficking two years ago. I have sold 20 male and female children to Madam Goodness who operates the orphanage. She paid me between N150,000 and N200,000 for each baby I sold to her. I got to know her when I became pregnant and gave birth to a girl on October 4, 2013. After I delivered the baby, a friend introduced me to Madam Goodness. I took my daughter to her and she gave me N150,000.00, to take care of myself. After that time, I decided to go into child trafficking by kidnapping children coming back from school or getting them in the street. Then I would take them to Madam Goodness. And she would sell them between N150,000 and N200,000. But I was arrested on May 1, 2017, when I stole a set of twins at an estate in Onitsha and took them to my house. Suddenly the father of the twins traced me to my house and came with policemen and I was arrested."
Onwuasoanya who hails from Ebenebe, Awka North Local Government Area, Anambra State, also made more interesting revelations to the police while being interrogated. She confessed to being a member of the gang of robbers who killed two policemen, Inspector Shuaibu Usman and Sergeant Julius Matthew, of Police Mobile Force 29 in February, 2017 at Nkpor fly-over, Onitsha and took their AK-47 rifles, which were later used to commit robberies in Nkpor, Obosi, Ogidi, Nkpor Old Road, Awka, Oye-agu.

She also assisted the SARS operatives to arrest three members of the gang while the other six members escaped and are still at large. She disclosed that she was always given her own share of the money made during robbery operations, saying that she got between N50,000 and N80,000.

She is now regretting associating with armed robbers and engaging in child-trafficking.

“I have regretted what I did. My parents are alive. It was my friend who introduced to child trafficking and which led me to armed robbery today,"The Commander of SARS, Supol Sunday Okpe confirmed that Ownuasoanya’s confession led to the arrest of three people alleged to be members of the gang.

The suspects are: Ifeanyi Onwukwe a.k.a Nger, 22; Chidubem Osita a.k.a Kabaka, 23, and Chijioke Obi a.k.a Abababa, who is 23 years old.

Upon interrogation, Onwukwe confessed that they killed two policemen at Nkpor.

"We went with one vehicle and three motorcycles which we always used for our robbery operations. We always met at the football field at Nkpor to plan our strategies. The SARS operatives recovered an AK47 rifle from us. We used the AK47 rifle to carry out our operations."
Goodness who admitted to running an orphanage, which had 15 children, however, denied engaging in child trafficking.

"Students who got pregnant come to us to deliver their babies, and we take care of them. Also children whose parents died are brought to us too. I don’t sell children rather I take care of them. I have never known Chinasa Onwuasoanya in my life"

Prison Congestion: Zamfara State to review over 700 cases - Chief Judge, Justice Kulu Aliyu

The Chief Judge of Zamfara State, Justice Kulu Aliyu, has said that over 700 cases will soon be reviewed in its bid to crack down prison congestion and wrongful imprisonment in the state.
Aliyu made this known while speaking to journalists in Gusau on Monday at the commencement of her annual prison tour.

She noted that the Gusau Medium Prison was overcrowded, subjecting inmates to other dangers, especially healthcare issues.
“Since the tour will afford us more opportunities to see the situation and conditions of inmates, we are very likely going to review many cases,” the CJ said
On the issue of wrongful imprisonment, she said: “all those inmates wrongly accused and imprisoned will be set free because that is the dispensation of justice.”

The Chief also charged judges in the state to be “more diligent in the discharge of their duties, adding that if judges and the police were doing their job effectively, the issue of prison congestion will not arise.
