Breaking: North Korea dictator Kim Jong-un reportedly dead after botched heart surgery

Leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-Un, has reportedly died or is on his death bed with no hope for recuperation, according to media outlets in China and Japan.

This comes after the Chinese government dispatched a team including medical experts to North Korea to advise North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, on his care after he underwent a life-saving heart surgery during the Coronavirus outbreak.

According to TMZ, a Hong Kong-backed news channel's vice director who's apparently the niece of a Chinese foreign minister confirmed the shocking news that Kim Jong-un is dead.

She announced the news on a social media app called Weibo for her nearly 15 million followers citing a "very solid source" about the claim Kim had, in fact, perished.

A Japanese magazine reports he's in a "vegetative state" after a heart surgery gone wrong.

The outlet reports citing a Chinese medical expert privy to the situation that Kim had clutched his chest in early April and fell down while visiting the countryside there. He needed a stent procedure done, but apparently, it either wasn't done rapidly enough, or it was botched completely by the surgeon.

Fears about his health began after Daily NK, a Seoul-based website, reported earlier this week that Kim was staying at a countryside villa outside Pyongyang after the surgery and was conspicuously absent from events on 15 April commemorating the birth of his grandfather Kim Il-sung, the founder of the nation - one of North Korea's most important holiday celebrations.

Dozens of top Government officials attended a flamboyant military parade at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun on the 15th of April, but Kim was nowhere to be seen.

The publication reported that Kim had heart surgery on April 12. because of "excessive smoking, obesity, and overwork," and is now receiving treatment in a villa in Hyangsan County following his procedure.

There were also reports suggesting that Kim was in grave danger after the surgery. But South Korean government officials challenged the reports saying they had detected no signs of unusual activity in North Korea.

On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump also downplayed earlier reports that Kim was gravely ill. 'I think the report was incorrect,' Trump told reporters, but he declined to say if he had been in touch with North Korean officials.

''Pray for Kano'' - State Ministry of Health says it is investigating claims of mysterious deaths in the state

Kano state Ministry of Health says it is currently investigating the reported rise in the number of deaths in the state and would soon address it.

On Sunday morning, April 26, the Ministry via its Twitter handle, disclosed this while responding to a lady who asked what the Ministry is doing to address the numerous claims of multiple deaths in the state.

The Ministry says what is expected from everyone at this time, is prayers for the state.

As Nigeria continues to battle the Coronavirus pandemic, there have been several claims of mysterious deaths in the state within the last one week.

Arsenal players allowed to return to club’s training ground from next week Monday amid Coronavirus pandemic

Arsenal will become the first Premier League club to return to training since the suspension of the remaining league games due to the outbreak of Coronavirus.

The Gunners’ squad will be allowed to return to train at the club's London Colney training ground from next week Monday. They will undertake some light running individually in order to maintain the government’s coronavirus regulations to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

According to Metro UK, the players will also operate on a strict rotational basis, with small groups arriving individually and they will not come into contact with each other.

A club spokesperson confirmed: ‘Players will be permitted access to our London Colney training grounds next week. ‘Access will be limited, carefully managed and social distancing will be maintained at all times. All Colney buildings remain closed. Players will travel alone, do their individual workout and return home.’

Meanwhile, Premier League return is being considered in June with the remaining games expected to be played behind closed doors due to social distancing concerns.

A Government spokesman said: “Ministers continue to work with sports governing bodies on how live sporting events can resume in the future. This can only happen once we have passed the five tests for easing social distancing measures.”

Coronavirus Lockdown: Lagos mortuaries now full and need urgent decongestion — Governor Sanwo-Olu

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at a press briefing on Saturday April 25, disclosed that mortuaries in the state are now full and need urgent decongestion.

The Lagos State Governor said mortuaries in the state are not full due to Coronavirus cases, but because residents of the state have been unable to gather to hold burial ceremonies for their loved ones due to the lockdown order in the state.

Sanwo-Olu also outlined new measures to ensure the decongestion of mortuaries in the state.

He said;

“Because of this inability to hold funerals, occasioned by the restriction on movement, the mortuaries in Lagos State are now full and in urgent need of decongestion. Let me make it clear at this point that these are not Covid-19 deaths.

“I am now constrained to make this appeal to all Lagosians who have the corpses of loved ones in the mortuaries, to please go ahead and schedule these funerals.

“The mortuaries in Lagos are not full because of Covid-19 deaths –the total number of Covid-19 deaths in Lagos as at today is 20; the only reason the mortuaries are full at this time is because funerals are not being held, and have not been held for most of the last two months.

"Lagosians can hold or attend funeral ceremonies in the state as long as they comply with the requirements of the state, which are as follows:

• The total number of persons at the funeral, including officiating religious leaders, must not exceed 20.
• Physical distancing must be maintained at the funeral ceremony.
• All attendees/mourners must use masks and ensure they wash their hands after the
ceremony.
• There must be no receptions or parties to accompany the funerals.

“If we are unable to see a decongestion of the mortuaries across the state in the next two weeks, the Lagos State Government will be compelled to carry out mass burials to achieve this. We do not want to be forced to do this, which is why we are asking for your cooperation in this regard."

Coronavirus: Governor Ikpeazu orders curfew in Abia State

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has ordered a curfew in Abia State following the recently confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the state.

The 6pm - 6am curfew which will take off from Sunday April 26, will last for 7 days and is expected to help in thorough contact tracing with special emphasis on the three local government areas of Ukwa West, Ikwuano and Umuahia North.

It was further gathered that the 2 Coronavirus cases in the state who are above 70 years and with underlying illness, are currently stable and responding to treatment.

A press statement from the Abia state government reads;

1. We are all aware that Abia has registered 2 Covid-19 cases at the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Umuahia. Though the patients are above 70 years in age and have underlying illnesses, they are currently stable and responding to treatment.

2. In view of the circumstances of our index cases, we are doing extensive contact tracing, which is taking epidemiologists to three Local Government Areas of Ukwa West, Ikwuano and Umuahia North.
Presently, about 237 contacts have been established and we are still counting.

3. Unfortunately, our medics are experiencing some challenges in some communities especially Umuorie in Ukwa West, therefore the TC Chairman of Ukwa West and the relevant Traditional Rulers must yield unfettered access and cooperation to the medical team or risk immediate suspension.

4. There shall be a 6pm - 6am curfew in Abia State from Sunday, 26th April, 2020, for 7 days to allow for thorough contact tracing, with special emphasis on the three local government areas of Ukwa West, Ikwuano and Umuahia North. The Transition Council Chairmen of the three LGAs should ensure unfettered access to the members of the medical rapid response team of the COVID-19 committee. Additionally, all TC Chairmen of the state's 17 LGAs, as well as Honorable Commissioners, should be on top of the lockdown exercise in order to ensure full compliance with the lockdown by citizens and residents in their respective constituencies. Failure to adhere to these directives will attract sanctions,

5. All Transition Council Chairmen should take charge of enforcement of curfew and lockdown processes in their respective LGAs while the Transition Council Chairmen of Ukwa West, Ikwuano and Umuahia North LGAs must ensure strict compliance and adherence to government directives especially concerning contact tracing.

6. I hereby direct the Secretary to State Government (SSG) to expand the committee on palliatives to include selected members of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), traditional rulers, civil society organizations and Presidents General of Development Associations.

7. The palliative sub-committee shall embark on the distribution of further food and protective items from community to community, starting from next week. Associations of Ndi Imo, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi and Akwa Ibom will also be reached.
8. We will make provision for artisans such as vehicle mechanics and others like Keke operators and commercial bus drivers during the next phase of distribution of palliatives.

9. I have been informed that the Federal Government is in the process of delivering 1800 bags of rice to the state. We shall examine the wholesomeness of these supplies and brief Ndi Abia on the pattern of distribution if eventually certified good for human consumption.

10. While we salute and encourage the efforts of the Federal Government in leading the charge against COVID-19, we are proud to say that we are not in need of any imported face masks and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in Abia State. Our brothers and sisters at home can and have produced our face masks/PPEs. The use of face masks in Abia state remains compulsory and offenders will be prosecuted.

11. Once again, we are extremely proud of our medics and all the frontline officers. You shall remain the heroes of our time.
Bikonu Umunnem Ndi Abia, COVID-19 is serious, stay at home for now!

NB: The lockdown regulation in the state during the day, border closure and other associated measures remain in force in addition to the curfew.
