AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini and his son Daniel test positive for coronavirus



















AC Milan legend, Paolo Maldini, who is currently the club's technical director has tested positive for coronavirus alongside his 18-year-old son, Daniel Maldini.



The former Italian defender and his son who plays as a midfielder for the club were both diagnosed with the disease after experiencing symptoms.


The Serie A club announced that Paolo and Daniel Maldini are both well and have already been in self-isolation for two weeks.


A statement on Milan's website read: 'AC Milan confirms that Paolo Maldini, the club's technical director, became aware of contact with a person who subsequently tested positive for coronavirus and began to display symptoms of the virus himself.


'He was administered with a swab test yesterday, the result of which was positive. His son Daniel, a forward in AC Milan's youth team who had previously been training with the first team, also tested positive.


'Paolo and Daniel are both well and have already completed two weeks at home without contact with others. They will now remain in quarantine until clinically recovered, as per the medical protocols outlined by the health authorities.'

Oyo records first coronavirus case

















Oyo State has recorded its first case of coronavirus as confirmed in a statement released by Governor Seyi Makinde, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 23 (2 have been discharged).



Governor Makinde disclosed that public health officials are collaborating with the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan’s team on the first case of COVID-19 in the state.



He also revealed that another US returnee identified at Oluyole Local Government Area of the state, has been kept in self-isolation with close monitoring by the State Epidemiological Team.



The statement reads;




“The COVID-19 confirmation test for the suspected case at Bodija has come back POSITIVE. The result was released at 17:35 PM of March 21, 2020,” he said.

“A follow up on the Ekiti COVID-19 case revealed that the deceased was picked up directly from Lagos Airport to a private apartment in Ona Ara Local Government Area.

“The Health Authorities have contacted the family concerned and the community has been alerted for intensified contact tracing and self-isolation of identified close contacts. The information given that he stayed in some hotels in Ibadan has been found to be false.

“Another returnee from Texas, USA, has also been identified at Oluyole Local Government Area. She has been kept in self-isolation with close monitoring by the State Epidemiological Team. All recent returnees are again urged to identify themselves to Ministry Officials and self-isolate for 14 days.

“We have released funds for: a. Activation of Emergency Operation Centre at the Ministry of Health; establishment of Diagnostic Centre for screening of Coronavirus and other related infectious diseases to be stationed at the UCH, Ibadan; equipping of the newly designated Oyo State Infectious Disease Centre at Olodo that has the capacity for over 100 cases.”

There are currently 16 coronavirus patients in Lagos; one in Ekiti; two in Ogun, and three in the federal capital territory (FCT).

COZA dragged for holding church service amid increased cases of coronavirus in the country

















Biodun Fatoyinbo, the senior pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) ignited the wrath of Nigerians after he announced that his church will be holding services in its two branches in Abuja.



The COZA founder made the annoucement amid restrictions placed on social gatherings and worship centres by the federal government following confirmation of cases of the deadly disease in the country.



Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo who made the announcement on Instagram after 3 cases of coronavirus was confirmed in Abuja, wrote;




Hello family, we are geared up to excitedly receive you tomorrow 22nd of March by 7:30am at our #CentrePointCampus, Evelyn Event Centre, Gwarinpa. Worshippers can be assured of our unwavering commitment to a clean and conducive environment for service. The Nigerian doctor who suspected and reported the Italian man who became the index case of coronavirus in the country, to the appropriate authorities, has been identified and appreciated by the Ogun State Government.



In its appreciation tweets, the Ogun State Government identified the young woman as Dr Amarachukwu Karen Allison.



According to the Ogun State Government, the singular brilliance of the young doctor who works with Lafarge Cement Company led to the early diagnosis and rapid containment of the first Covid-19 infection in Nigeria.

Three new cases of Coronavirus confirmed in Lagos









Three new cases of Coronavirus have been confirmed in Lagos state.



According to the information posted on the verified Twitter handle of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, the three new cases have travel history to high-risk countries in the seven days.



This brings the total number of persons with the virus in Nigeria to 25.
