NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal's 18-year-old son to undergo Heart Surgery

American basketball legend, Shaquille O'Neal's son will be undergoing a heart surgery.

Shareef O'Neal, a basketball player with UCLA men announced on Friday that he will sit out his freshman season due to "a serious heart issue" that will require surgery.

The 18-year-old basketball star told TMZ Sports in a video interview that the undisclosed issue was discovered by UCLA doctors and will require surgery. But he said the injury is not believed to be career-ending and he expects to return to the court for the Bruins in the future.

"I am very blessed to be here living today, one of those moments on the court could’ve been my last breathe," O'Neal later wrote on Instagram. "I want to thank god for looking out for me , I want to thank UCLA , my teammates and most importantly my family ... this is just a small bump on the road and I gotta push through it."

The UCLA basketball team confirmed that O'Neal will take a medical redshirt season but remain enrolled in classes during the 2018-19 academic year.

"The UCLA men’s basketball program completely supports Shareef and his family as he gets this issue resolved," the team said in a statement.

N4.7bn Fraud: Court adjourns ex-Oyo governor, Rasheed Ladoja’s trial Indefinately

Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos has adjourned sine die the ongoing trial of a former governor of Oyo State, Rasheed Ladoja.

Ladoja is facing trial alongside a former Commissioner for Finance in the state, Waheed Akanbi, for allegedly laundering a sum of N4.7bn from the coffers of Oyo State government.

At today’s sitting, the prosecution counsel, O. O. Olabisi, statedthat he had filed an amended charge against the defendant before the court.

He also prayed for an extension of the fiat issued to the Judge by the President of the Court of Appeal to conclude the matter this month.

Justice Idris is among the 12 High Court judges recently elevated to

the Court of Appeal.

Counsel to the first defendant, Bolaji Onilenla, opposed the application of prosecution to amend the charge, saying, “At this critical stage, the prosecution cannot amend the charge.”

Onilenla, however, aligned himself with the prayer of the prosecution for an extension of the fiat given the presiding Judge.

Counsel to the second defendant, Olumide Fisikan, sought to move his

application of no-case submission.

He also aligned himself with other counsels in the matter that the judge should seek an extension of the fiat on the matter.

In his short ruling, Justice Idris held that either party was at liberty to apply to the President of the Court of Appeal for the renewal of the fiat in line with the Administration of the Criminal Justice Act, ACJA.

“To be on a safe side, this case must be adjourned sine die,” he further held.

The defendants were first arraigned in 2008 before Justice A.R. Mohammed.

They, however, challenged the validity of the charges up to the Supreme Court.

The apex court in 2015 dismissed their appeal and ordered them to go

back to the lower court to face their trial.

They were subsequently re-arraigned on December 14, 2016 before Justice Idris.

President Buhari reacts to Nigerian Air Force air accident, sends Abba Kyari to visit surviving pilot

President Buhari has commiserated with the Nigerian Air Force on the air accident which involved two fighter jets in the fleet in Abuja earlier on Friday. The President paid tributes to the gallantry of Squadron Leader MB Baba-Ari, the officer who died in the accident while also wishing the two other wounded officers quick recovery.

In a condolence message delivered on his behalf by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Abubakar Siddique at the burial of the officer Friday in Abuja, President Buhari extolled the virtues of the dead pilot saying that he laid down his life in the service of his fatherland at a time that patriotic citizens were needed to join hands to move the nation forward.

He assured that, having paid the supreme sacrifice, the nation would not forget him. He prayed that God will grant the soul of the departed eternal rest and assured family members that the country will not abandon them.

Representatives of the President also visited the two other officers, Squadron Leader Abatuba and Flight Lieutenant Ambi in the hospital and conveyed the President's good wishes to them. The President wished them quick recovery, assuring them the hearts of Nigerians are with them and are praying for them as they make a quick return to good health.
He assured that the country will do whatever it takes to ensure that they are back on their feet in excellent state.

Romantic or weird? Man proposes to girlfriend at her father’s grave side (photos)

A man whose girlfriend's dad died 2015, decided to propose to her at her father's grave side with a tear jerking letter asking for permission from the dead man to marry his daughter.

Justin and Meg met at university and their relationship developed organically. “We spent more and more time together. From the start, Justin always told me that he knew I was the one,” Meg told HowHeAsked.

But when her dad was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2014, times were hard for the couple. “It was so rare that doctors have not found a cure yet. After my dad was diagnosed, Justin was always there for me whether it was a shoulder to cry on or someone to vent to. “At the time, I wasn’t the easiest person to get along with. I was confused, angry and in denial.

“After my dad passed away a year later, things were tough. My dad was my best friend and to him, I was truly his “little girl.” “Justin knew how much my dad meant to me and how difficult it is to experience the big moments in life without him.”

The romantic decided that he would involve Gino, Meg’s dad, in arguably the biggest moment of her life. Knowing that Gino’s favourite animal was a flamingo, Justin bought a lovely solar-powered decoration for his grave so the couple could take it together one weekend.

They chose the date, September 7, and Meg says she felt her dad was with her after a ‘sign’ when arriving at the cemetery. Justin told Meg to open the letter and, as she read, she realised it was written from her boyfriend to her dad asking for his blessing to marry her.

The last line said: “I hope you are smiling down on us during this moment… the moment I ask your daughter to be my wife.” Meg slowly turned and realised Justin was down on one knee. The bride-to-be says it was the happiest moment of her life.

Facebook confirms security breach on over 50 million accounts!

Social media giant, Facebook, is currently under cyber attack as a Taiwanese hacker named Chang Chi-yuan threatnened to take down Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook page in a live broadcast before appearing to pull out of the plan.

Now, Facebook has issued an offical statement on the attack saying, 'on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 25, our engineering team discovered a security issue affecting almost 50 million accounts. We’re taking this incredibly seriously and wanted to let everyone know what’s happened and the immediate action we’ve taken to protect people’s security'.

See the rest of the statement below....

Our investigation is still in its early stages. But it’s clear that attackers exploited a vulnerability in Facebook’s code that impacted “View As” a feature that lets people see what their own profile looks like to someone else. This allowed them to steal Facebook access tokens which they could then use to take over people’s accounts. Access tokens are the equivalent of digital keys that keep people logged in to Facebook so they don’t need to re-enter their password every time they use the app.

Here is the action we have already taken. First, we’ve fixed the vulnerability and informed law enforcement.

Second, we have reset the access tokens of the almost 50 million accounts we know were affected to protect their security. We’re also taking the precautionary step of resetting access tokens for another 40 million accounts that have been subject to a “View As” look-up in the last year. As a result, around 90 million people will now have to log back in to Facebook, or any of their apps that use Facebook Login. After they have logged back in, people will get a notification at the top of their News Feed explaining what happened.

Third, we’re temporarily turning off the “View As” feature while we conduct a thorough security review.

This attack exploited the complex interaction of multiple issues in our code. It stemmed from a change we made to our video uploading feature in July 2017, which impacted “View As.” The attackers not only needed to find this vulnerability and use it to get an access token, they then had to pivot from that account to others to steal more tokens.

Since we’ve only just started our investigation, we have yet to determine whether these accounts were misused or any information accessed. We also don’t know who’s behind these attacks or where they’re based. We’re working hard to better understand these details and we will update this post when we have more information, or if the facts change. In addition, if we find more affected accounts, we will immediately reset their access tokens.

People’s privacy and security is incredibly important, and we’re sorry this happened. It’s why we’ve taken immediate action to secure these accounts and let users know what happened. There’s no need for anyone to change their passwords. But people who are having trouble logging back into Facebook for example because they’ve forgotten their password should visit our Help Center. And if anyone wants to take the precautionary action of logging out of Facebook, they should visit the “Security and Login” section in settings. It lists the places people are logged into Facebook with a one-click option to log out of them all.

''We only defraud greedy people'' - Suspects arrested in Kwara say

Five members of a fraud syndicate that specialize in producing fake foreign currencies, have been arrested by the Kwara state police command. The suspects identified as Sesan Oguga, Owoyemi Gbenga, Sebile Oluwafemi, Adebayo Akeem and Ayoola Issac, who usually operate in threes, drive around the state in a Mazda 323 with the number plate, FUF 646 XA, painted in Kwara taxi colour. While one would act as a driver, two others would pretend as the passengers.

According to the suspects, they go around the state targeting good looking persons waiting by the roadside for a cab. After their victims had boarded the cab, they would initiate a discussion on mass production of foreign currencies. The greedy ones would fall prey and then would be defrauded.

Parading the suspects before newsmen, the state commissioner of police, Bolaji Fafowora, said the suspects had defrauded two victims, Mrs. Adekeye Feyisayo of N1.055m and Bilikis Abdulkareem and five others victims of N3.5m.

“The suspects pretend to be taxi operators and defraud their unsuspecting passengers. Their operational vehicle, a Mazda 323 with registration number, FUF 646 XA, Kwara taxi colour, has been recovered.” he said

When interrogated, one of the suspected fraudsters, Adebayo Akeem, said they usually go after greedy people.

“Those people that have ojukokoro (greedy people) are the ones we collect money from. We have dealt with two people. At times, we connive with the aides of rich people to defraud them.” Akeem said
