Toya Wright describes the painful moment she found out her brothers were killed: "It was the worst news ever"

Toya Wright has opened up about what exactly happened the fateful night her brothers Rudy and Josh Johnson were killed in a shootout in New Orleans. In a interview with People the reality star revealed she was hosting an event in Baton Rouge the night of the murders.

"I got a call from my sister-in-law and she was like, 'Your brothers just got shot,'" she recalls. "The music was loud and I'm [thinking], this can't be real." She tried to call other relatives, but nobody would answer their phone.

"I guess they didn't want to tell me what was really going on," She later spoke to her sister-in-law again, who told Wright that her brothers were still inside the car, the crime scene was cordoned off and no one was allowed near the vehicle."
"When she said that," Wright explains, "I just knew."

The ex-wife of Lil Wayne whom she shares 17-year-old daughter Reginae Carter with, drove to New Orleans to join her family.

"It was the worst news ever," she says. "Murders happen every day and this is another dark night in New Orleans. You hear about stories like this all the time, but it doesn't really hit you until you get that call. It hits so close to home." Unfortunately, there is still no justice for the Johnson brothers. "We have not publicly identified a suspect or suspects in the case at this time," police spokesman Tyler Gamble tellsPeople. "The investigation is ongoing."

Although recent events have made life overwhelming at times, Wright is trying to stay strong.

"I'm praying day and night because it hurts," she says. "I really understand what it means to have a hole in your heart."

Egypt state TV orders female anchors to lose weight or lose their jobs

Khadija Khattab (Channel 2)
The Egyptian Radio and Television Union (ERTU) has given the women who work for the state owned TV and Radio station one month to lose weight before they can appear on air again with an "appropriate appearance", the Al-Yawm al-Sabi website reports. The ERTU has a female director, Safaa Hegazy, a former state TV anchor herself.

This order led to an outcry among the affected presenters and women's rights groups in the country.

One of the hosts on Egypt's Channel 2 station, Khadija Khattab, said the audience should watch her most recent TV appearances and judge for themselves if she is really "fat", and whether her weight should prevent her from working.

Another presenter complained bitterly that the situation had upset their families and that this situation of their weight issue should have been dealt with internally.

The Women's Centre for Guidance and Legal Awareness condemned the move, saying it "violates the constitution" and is a form of violence against women. It's called on the ERTU to backtrack.

Journalist Fatma al-Sharawi says the policy should apply to all local TV stations, while academic Waheed Abdul Majid says the channel should pay more attention to its content - not its hosts' appearances.
Reaction on social media has been mixed, with some supporting the women and others calling them "bakabouzas" - a term for overweight girls.

A twitter user said: Some of them might be a little overweight, but they are eloquent".

Despite the backlash, sources from ERTU said they will stick by the decision. The State TV has since pulled eight female TV presenters off air until they lose weight, adding that the hosts will still be paid their salaries and benefits during their stand-down period.

Presidency reportedly begins investigations into alleged links of Patience and Goodluck Jonathan to Niger Delta Avengers

The Presidency has reportedly begun investigations into the alleged links of former President Jonathan and his wife Patience to the militant group, Niger Delta Avengers.

A break away group from the notorious militant group known as the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers had last week released a statement indicting the former President and other prominent Nigerians like Raymond Dokpesi, Peter Odili, Nyesom Wike, Olisa Metuh and others as sponsors of the militant group. They have all since denied the allegation.

According to Premium Times, a source within the Presidency said preliminary investigations indicated that some of the oil installations that were attacked in the Niger Delta had actually been mined while President Jonathan was in power, just before the 2015 election, by some of the militants and operatives known to be very close to him.

Speaking, the anonymous government official said

“The mining was meant to be a “Plan B should they be removed from Aso Rock. The plan then was to cause confusion if the 2015 presidential election did not go as expected, in favour of the then incumbent. However, when the former president surprisingly conceded the election to President Mohammadu Buhari, according to the source, there was both disappointment and confusion in the camp of those who had designed the plan, causing a suspension of the whole agenda. But by February this year, it was learnt, the plan was reopened as several of the backers were getting investigated on different corruption cases. Mr. Jonathan himself was concerned that himself and his wife could be prosecuted, including on money-laundering charges where investigators said evidence against the wife has already been amassed. It was at that point that the bombing activities under the banner of the Niger Delta Avengers started. Even the former President himself had been reported while on a foreign trip as saying he knew he was under probe. This was after the plan to start the bombing had become fully operational according to intelligence reports”The source continued saying

"After the Plan B was restored, the ‘militant operatives’ who mined the oil and gas installations only had to arrange for how they would be detonated at a distance at the wish and timing of the NDA, their backers and sponsors said to include the former president, his wife, Government Tompolo, Mr. Kinglsey Kuku and Olisa Metuh among others. The mining was done by some of the militants that the previous government had trained under the amnesty programme, and those who acquired the needed expertise, besides their knowledge of the Niger Delta creeks and terrain. Experts working with the federal government are now said to be working to determine how to discover if there are still many more oil and gas installations that have been mined and explore the best means of demining them.” The source added that the attacks on the pipelines in the Niger Delta started so that the Buhari-led administration will seek a political solution to the anti-corruption war and private investigations of the Former President, his wife and other political associates “The game plan of Mr. Jonathan and his associates backing the NDA was to cause enough economic damage in order to force the Buhari administration to pursue a political solution to the corruption cases on which investigations were already advancing against them. This is to avoid prosecution and the attendant unprecedented shame of having a former president go to jail”.The former President had on August 7th released a statement through his media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, denying claims that he was a sponsor of the Niger Delta Avengers.

World Premiere: Dammy Krane x Davido – Ladies

O Strong!

Dammy Krane and Davido, the superstar pair that brought us the hit duet “Izzue” at the tail-end of 2015, told us back then to “watch out for Part 2“. Well, here it is!

“Ladies” is a new song they both recorded sometime last week at Davido‘s base in Atlanta prior to their joint-performance at Akon’s International festival #PXPfest over the weekend. The joint – produced by Scarface, mixed & mastered by Giggz – is more mellow than “Izzue“, but you could argue it’s a more musically sound piece.

Could Dammy Krane and Davido be working on a joint project?

FG approves four oil wells for Lagos, to commence payment of 13% derivation fund

The Federal Government today announced that four out of the five Aje oil wells have been approved for production of crude oil in Lagos. A team led by the Chairman of the Indices and Disbursement Committee of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Aliyu Mohammed, paid a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, at the Lagos House, Ikeja.

Mohammed told Governor Ambode that the committee was in Lagos to verify crude oil and gas production from Aje Oil Wells for the purpose of disbursement of the 13 per cent Derivation Fund to the state in line with the Nigerian Constitution. He said the Commission had set-up an Inter-Agency technical Committee comprising of the RMAFC, DPR, Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation and the National Boundary Commission to determine the location of the Aje Oil Wells.

Mohammed said the Technical Committee recommended that for the purpose of the Derivation Fund as spelt out under Section 162 (2) of the 1999 Constitution as well as the provision of the Allocation of Revenue Act 2004, number 1, 2, 4 and 5 of the Aje Oil Wells fall within 200m isobaths and therefore should be attributed to Lagos State.

Governor Ambode described the visit as historic as it was the official step that would take Lagos to that final destination as an oil-producing state.

“We are very glad to receive this delegation. We also want to thank the Federal Government, most especially President Muhammadu Buhari for making this to happen very promptly. I want to say that this has been the promptest action that has been taken by RMAFC since I have known the Commission. I used to be a former Account General so I had a lot of transactions and relationship with the institution called RMAFC. Within a span of about 60 days of when we wrote our letter, and even before we wrote the letter, this technical committee was actually set up. It gladdens me to say that the institution works and is working for the good of Nigeria” he said

Britney Spears to perform at MTV Video Music Awards for the first time in 9 years

34 year old American singer, Britney Spears is set to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards later this month, for the first time in nine years, MTV announced on their website on Tuesday night.

The network announced the news through a video which showed a python slithering its way around Spears' dressing room — and obvious ode to her iconic 2001 performance and says she will turn heads at this year's performance.

"The VMAs don't just give you a stage, they give you a story. Some way of taking a fraction of a second and making it live forever," the songstress said in the video. Before you know it, it's history. Before you know it, it's Britney, b----," she continued.
The 34-year-old's comeback will see her perform her new single, "Make Me," with rapper G-Eazy.
The last time she performed at the VMA's was in 2007, and the performance was a woeful one as she lip synced and danced off beat, a performance that was dubbed her comeback performance after completing rehab and infamously shaving her head.

"I had to learn the hard way, but through it all, I found a new me" - Toke Makinwa

Media personality Toke Makinwa shared via her IG page. She posted the photo above & wrote,
"My #wcw. You never know how strong you are until you are tested and tried. I used to underestimate myself, I would usually speak myself out of doing things, the voice of fear was so loud till what I feared the most happened to me (like Job) and In my confusion and fear, not knowing what next, I had to learn the hard way but thru it all I found a new me, a girl I didn't know existed and it's been really fun getting to know her.I remember when I moved into my new flat, I didn't know how I would make it thru but God was there before me. Each time I tried to settle I felt I was insulting God; did I create myself? Do I not trust him? Is his grace not sufficient? And true to his word, he's always looked out for this little girl and each time I ask myself how did I come this far, how am I able to stand? Pay bills, thrive and not just survive; I feel so much comfort and I confront my fears about going further. I'm all grown. I will get by and by his grace my testimony will be complete.
Life happens, life doesn't stop so when next you are faced with "how will I do this??" Think if he brought me to it, his grace is sufficient to take me thru it and I will come out on the other side. Just like Job, (job had in the end much more than he lost in the beginning) my season of restoration will come."
