Alleged $3m Bribe: Femi Otedola appears In court, Insists Senator Farouk Lawan demanded money
On Wednesday, founder of Zenon Oil, Femi Otedola appeared before an Abuja High Court to testify in the trial of a former member of the House of Representatives, Farouk Lawan for alleged fraud.
Otedola who is a prosecution witness in the trial was allegedly pressured by Lawan to part with a three-million-dollar bribe while Lawan was chairing a subcommittee investigating a multi-billion-dollar fraud associated with government fuel subsidy during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Otedola entered the witness box after he was introduced by the prosecution counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo after which a video where Lawan was seen receiving $500 000 from the Zenon oil boss, was played. According to Otedola, the accused had indicted his company in the alleged fraud and demanded three million dollars to exonerate him. He added that after the initial deposit of $500,000 was paid into his account, Lawan declared Zenon Oil and Gas free of the initial indictment.
When asked by the prosecution counsel about the claim by Lawan that the witness forced him to take the money, Otedola denied it. Otedola also denied a claim by Lawan that Zenon Oil and Gas was exonerated on the basis of documents later provided by the company.
The defence counsel was, however, unable to cross-examine Otedola as he requested for an adjournment to enable his principal to attend the next trial and conduct the cross-examination. Lawan was first arraigned in February 2013 along with another accused, Boniface Emenalo, for allegedly receiving $620,000 of the alleged bribe from Otedola and his company.

Finally, Chelsea legend Didier Drogba confirms his retirement from football after 20 years
Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has confirmed his retirement from playing, ending "an amazing 20 years".
The 40-year old Ivory Coast striker had two spells at Chelsea, scoring 164 goals in 381 games, winning four Premier Leagues and the 2012 Champions League. He spent the last 18 months of his career with US side Phoenix Rising, the club he co-owns. "After 20 years, I have decided to put an end to my playing career," he told BBC World Service's Sportshour.
It had been expected Drogba would retire after the United Soccer League Cup final earlier this month, with his last game a 1-0 defeat by Louisville City in the final of the United States' second tier.
"It's the best way to end, helping some young talent to develop. To give something back to the game was the best way to finish as I have learned so much in the game." Drogba did not play top-flight football until the age of 23, when French side Guingamp signed him from Ligue 2 Le Mans in January 2002. He moved to Marseille 18 months later and the following year completed a reported £24m move to Chelsea, where he had the best spell of his career.
Drogba won three Premier League titles in his first eight years at Chelsea, including in each of his first two seasons in England, as well as four FA Cups and two League Cups. He also won the Premier League Golden Boot in 2006-07 and 2009-10.
He left on a high, scoring the winning penalty in the Champions League final shootout against Bayern Munich. Drogba then spent six months with Shanghai Shenhua and a year and a half with Galatasaray before returning to Chelsea.
He scored seven goals in 2014-15, winning a fourth Premier League title and a third League Cup, leaving the club as their fourth highest scorer of all time. In 2015, he joined Major League Soccer side Montreal Impact and then became player-owner of Phoenix Rising. He scored 65 times in 105 caps for the Ivory Coast, playing in three World Cups and being named African Footballer of the Year twice.

The 19-year-old, from Webster in New York, also received a text from her mother warning her that she will be disowned if she doesn't university and if she doesn't undergo conversion therapy to "cure" her homosexuality.
But Emily, who studies at Cansius College in Buffalo, refused to quit school or hide her sexuality, leaving her homeless and broke. She came home to find that all her belongings had been moved into her car. The license plates had also been taken off from her car, with her dad refusing to pay for its insurance.

Fayemi urges South West indigenes to vote for Buhari, says 2019 election is for the liberation of the Yoruba race
Ahead of the 2019 election, Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi, has urged the people of South-West to vote massively for President Buhari to reciprocate the concentration of juicy political positions he handed over to people from the region. Fayemi also said that the Yoruba race would be liberated in all ramification in 2019 if the South West come together to vote enmass for President Buhari.
Fayemi who took over from Ayo Fayose in October, said this when he received a letter from a group under the aegis of Artisan, Traders and Allied Technicians’ Association, Ekiti chapter, endorsing President Buhari for the 2019 presidential poll, at the state government house in Ado-Ekiti the state capital yesterday November 21st. The letter was submitted to Fayemi for onward delivery to President Buhari by the state President of the association, Mr. Ebenezer Fadipe and members of his executive.
While receiving the letter, Governor Fayemi said it will of immense benefit for the South West to vote in President Buhari in for a second term as he has proven through his appointments to be a lover of people from the region. Fayemi reminded the voters about how the administration of Goodluck Jonathan had concentrated influential political appointments in a certain zone in the South while the South-west was allegedly neglected under his reign.
“Under President Jonathan, we saw how the Secretary to the Government
of the Federation, the Minister of Finance, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Chief of Staff to the President were concentrated in just two zones in the South while the South-west was abandoned. But when President Buhari came on board, he made a South-west person his vice-president, the Minister of Works, Power and Housing is from this zone, Minister of Health and other juicy positions were also allotted to the region. So, the coming election is for the liberation of the Yoruba race and only Buhari’s presidency could bring about the actualisation of this dream,” he said.
Nigerian woman gushes about getting married to a man she used to make fun of on Facebook, shares their love story(photos)
Nigerian couple, Anita and Asuquo are getting maried this week, starting with a traditional wedding in Akwa Ibom today.
Taking to Facebook , Anita narrated how she used to make fun of Asuquo over his political views, aspiration and disposition. In fact, she never liked him and one time went into his inbox to tell him that he is a complete joke after she spotted his campaign posters. Read below:
He was my friend on Facebook but we never chatted, even though I saw some of his posts, I took no notice.
All these political people, nki dogho do interested.
I never liked him (nki bata bad anye)
I remember making fun of him with a friend once...
One day I saw a poster of him, he was contesting for a position; I felt it was a complete joke because I knew he wouldn't win at that time. So I Went to his inbox to tell him bluntly what I felt about him and his poster.
That was the first time we chatted. He asked for my number, I RELUCTANTLY gave him my "business number." I prayed he wouldn't call.
That night, oga sent a love text, I rolled my eyes in contempt (mme ani do ayem). In my mind he wasn't up to the standard I dated or had in mind to date, I mean, I was even quiting a relationship I called 'standard'.
I didnt know God was in a corner laughing.
God's ways clearly differs from man's ways!
Thereafter the baba called and I just knew I had entered one chance!
I finally met him on my sister's wedding day and he WILLINGLY paid for all my pictures, he stayed with me till the very end. I was amazed at his kindness... I had found a diamond in the rough.
Overtime, I have learnt not to judge a book by its cover.
I have learnt what it means to love and be loved unconditionally.
I have learnt about sacrifice, forgiveness and hope.
I have learnt what it means to be courageous and determined against all odds.
We've been termed an unlikely pair with little connecting interests but we've been through the hurdles of a relationship even though we were a thousand miles apart.
We have trusted and believed in God and each other.
God has blessed me and I am thankful.
One year and 3 months later we will be saying 'I do' and spending a lifetime together.
I'm saying "I do" to my friend, cheer Master and partner in everi everi!!!!
Dear friends share in our joy, be happy for us, pray for us.
It's today 22nd and 24th of November.
