Photos: Mum, Aged 98, Moves Into A Care Home So She Can Look After Her 80-Year-Old Son

A 98-year-old mother has moved in to a care home – to look after her 80-year-old son.
Tom Keating became a resident at Moss View care home in Huyton, Liverpool, in 2016 because he needed additional care and support.

And just over a year later his mother Ada decided to move into the same home to help look after her eldest child.

The mother and son, originally from Wavertree, are inseparable and love spending time together playing games or watching Emmerdale.

They share a special relationship as Tom never married and has always lived with Ada.
Ada said: ‘I say goodnight to Tom in his room every night and I’ll go and say good morning to him.
‘I’ll tell him I’m coming down for breakfast. When I go out to the hairdressers he’ll look for me to see when I’m coming back.

‘When I get back he’ll come to me with his arms outstretched and give me a big hug. You never stop being a mum.’

Tom said: ‘They’re very good here and I’m happy to see my mum more now she lives here.
‘Sometimes she’ll say “behave yourself”. She’s very good at looking after me.

Ada and late husband Harry had four children – Tom, Barbara, Margi and Janet, who died at the age of 13.
Before his retirement Tom was a painter and decorator at HE Simm building services, then located on Prescot Road.
Ada was an auxiliary nurse at the former Mill Road Hospital.
Ada’s granddaughter Debi Higham and other members of the family are regular visitors to the care home on Page Moss Lane, and say they are happy Ada and Tom can be together again.
Debi said: ‘There’s no parting them. It’s reassuring for us that they’re both getting looked after 24/7.’
Care home manager Philip Daniels said: ‘It’s very touching to see the close relationship both Tom and Ada share and we are so pleased we were able to accommodate both of their needs.
‘It’s very rare to see mothers and their children together in the same care home and we certainly want to make their time together as special as possible. They are inseparable.

Solar-Powered Tricycles Hit Nigerian Market

A Nigerian company, Oldang International Limited, on Sunday, launched the sales of solar-powered tricycles to enhance public transportation in the country.

The company’s Chief Executive, Mr. Olubunmi Oluwadare, said at the launch in Lagos that the solar- powered, fuel-less tricycle popularly called “keke,” would gradually phase out petrol engine tricycles across the country.




“Oldang Electric solar-powered vehicle is an automobile that is propelled by one or more electric motors using electrical energy storage device. According to the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN), “This would create an easy transportation, system, affordable transport fare, job opportunities, human capital development and position Nigeria as a forward-thinking country and a commercial hub for other African countries, “ Oluwadare said. According to him, solar-powered tricycles are vehicles of the future as people become more aware of the negative impacts of fossil fuels on the environment, health and finances. “The tricycle which uses sun and chargeable batteries, comes in an affordable price of less than N1 million.

“It is clean and non-polluting with zero emissions,” he said. Speaking at the launch, Mr. Adewale Folorunsho, Osun State Chairman of Tricycle Owners’ Association of Nigeria (TOAN), applauded the company for the innovation. “I really appreciate this innovation; with this solar tricycle coming to town, we will be using sun to make money now and not fuel again,” he said. He appealed banks and other stakeholders to invest in the public transportation business to enable operators buy and pay on installment.

FG Agrees To Pay Victims Of Biafra Civil War N88billion

47 years after, victims of Nigeria/Biafra civil war will be receiving N88billion from the Nigerian Government, which is also set out for completion of demining and destruction of abandoned explosives within the South-East, South-South and North Central regions of the country.



The Nigerian government said N38billion will be paid to contractors for total and complete demining and destruction of abandoned bombs and landmines within the regions, while it would pay N50billion compensation to “true victims” of the civil war that occurred between 1967 and 1970.


The decision which has been endorsed before the ECOWAS Court in Abuja on Monday, followed a suit marked ECW/CCJ/APP/06/12, which was filed before the ECOWAS Court on May 2, 2012, by one Vincent Agu and 19 others against FG and five others.

States which are to benefit from this are Anambra, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Ebonyi, Cross River, Abia, Enugu and Benue, as the Federal Government opted for an out-of-court- settlement of the matter after four years negotiation period.

Lovers found dead in a car Sunday morning behind NIJ Ogba Lagos. The husband of the woman said he was aware of her infidelity but chose to keep quiet.
The lover who happens to be the son to their landlord was said to be a close friend to the husband of the late woman. The two were found by bypassers early in the morning with the car engine and ac still running.
They quickly contacted the police who took the bodies to the morgue and according to the police, an autopsy will be conducted to ascertain the cause of their death.
