14 year old Nigerian-America filmmaker and writer, Zuriel Oduwole has met with the US Secretary of State, John Kerry.

Zuriel Oduwole is popular for her education advocacy campaign and for being the youngest filmmaker to have a self-produced and self-edited work among other achievements.
Sharing photos from her visit, Zuriel wrote,

"Met John Kerry - US Secretary of State. Happy New year to you all and hope you had a Merry and Safe Christmas. I am just so very, very thankful to the LORD for where he is taking me and what he wants to do in the lives of the youth of this world today. I just met with the US Secretary of State, John Kerry in his office in Washington DC. Some of you might think so, you've already met 23 World Leaders and recently spoke at the UN. This is very different. Secretary Kerry's decisions affects the whole worlds foreign and economic policy. And next to President Obama, he is the most visible member of the US Government leadership. The whole world knows who he is. What's so cool is we talked about Girls Education, and all the State Department has done the last 4 years on this serious topic. Exclusive: Fake soldier who terrorises Agege community arrested in Lagos

The Lagos state police command apprehended a man, Benjamin, who terrorises residents of Agege while wearing the Nigerian Army uniform and hiding under the cover of the force.


Benjamin was arrested following complaints made by residents of Agege, Lagos. Police responded to the complaint to discover that Benjamin not only wears the army uniform to extort from citizens but he also engages in an illegal motorcycle trade in which he steals motorcycles and resells them.
Speaking to LIB, Benjamin, who is a father of two, confessed to the crimes and disclosed the price at which he sold some of the motorcycles.
“I sold one for fifty thousand Naira. I sold another one for seventy thousand Naira and another one for seventy-three thousand. The highest one I sold is ninety thousand Naira.” Benjamin said.
He also insisted that he had not stolen more than four motorcycles. When asked if his wife who lives with him was aware of his activities he said she knew nothing about it and denied ever wearing the army uniform.


However, the police sergeant, Egede West, who spoke with LIB countered his claims and said that he has, not just the army uniform, but also different uniforms belonging to various agencies.
“He has been terrorising and intimidating people with the uniform in the community where he stays at Agege and the community members, having observed him and his nefarious activities, informed the police. We went there and discovered that the information was true. He has uniforms, assorted uniforms, military and other agency uniforms which he uses to operate. We arrested him and he made statement and confessed to other activities, including stealing of motorcycles, snatching of different things, not only within Lagos but even in other states.” Sergeant West said.

Bishop of the Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, says he has never been unsure of Nigeria's government like the way he is presently. The respected cleric said this at the launch of a book, ‘Religion and the making of Nigeria’ in Abuja yesterday.

"As a Nigerian and a citizen, I have always been an incurable optimist. But I have never been as unsure about the future of this country as I am now.
People say they are killing for religion, but intentions are not enough. As it is, we may never be able to prosecute anybody because we have not been able to separate criminality from religion. In Nigeria, we have a feeling that somehow, people can genuinely kill in the name of religion. I think that unless Nigeria as a country is prepared to make laws and ensure that all citizens live by same and be answerable by the same law, what we are witnessing is a symptom, not the disease. The creeping inequalities, the inability of this system to deliver has made us uncomfortable. The point, therefore, is not for us to keep praying. Should religion lead to the un-making of Nigeria? The answer is ‘No’. But the government of Nigeria should separate religion from politics and economics and let everybody make his claims.”he said

President Buhari arrived Banjul, the capital of Gambia, today to continue his role as the chief mediator in the political crisis in Gambia. Shortly after arriving the country, he met with President Yahya Jammeh and will also meet with the President-elect, Adama Barrow to continue his dialogue towards finding lasting solution to the crisis.


The incumbent president has said he will not vacate office for the president-elect Adama Narrow, whom he lost to in the country's presidential election in December last year.

American singer, Joe, allegedly abused his ex-girlfriend, new claims surface

Reports have surfaced claiming that Joseph Lewis Thomas AKA Joe, was violent towards his girlfriend, Michele, while they were dating.

A website, Lipstickalley.com, claim to have reached out to Joe's manager and got a response from her confirming the allegations against Joe.

"He did beat her. Like many victims of domestic violence, she keeps it a secret from everyone including her family."

Ex-boyfriend of Miss Italy beauty queen throws acid in her face, scarring her for life

A 28 year old 'Miss Italy' beauty queen, Gessica Notaro was rushed to the hospital this week after her ex-lover Jorge Edson Tavares, 29, allegedly threw acid on her face while she was at home in Rimini, Italy.

She suffered deep burns on her legs, hips, face, and hands and will require extensive plastic surgery according to the doctors in the hospital.


According to media sources in Italy, police issued Tavares a harassment order last summer after they broke up, but upon arrest by police, Tavares claimed he wasn't responsible for the attack.

The pair reportedly met in an aquarium in Rimini, Italy when she was working as a dolphin trainer.
Speaking to the Standard, Patrizia Mirigliani, a patron and organiser of the Miss Italy contest, said:
‘There can be no greater crime than defacing a person’s face in order to erase her identity, her beauty, her smile. These are outrageous attacks which keep being repeated.’More photos below...

Woman caught while trying to sneak her boyfriend out of jail in a suitcase

A 25 year old woman, Antonieta Robles Saouda was arrested after she tried to break her boyfriend out of prison by stuffing him into a pink suitcase and trying to wheel him out. Saouda took her 6-year-old daughter to visit her boyfriend, Ibrain Jose Vargas Garcia at the Jose Antonio Anzoategui prison in Venezuela with the plan to smuggle him out of the facility and live happily ever after as a happy family.

She successfully managed to get him into the suitcase but was unable to wheel him out of the prison because the bag was overstuffed and she didn't have the strength to successfully wheel him out.
According to Central European News agency, her prison-break plan was foiled when the prison guards noticed that she was struggling with the suitcase and asked to inspect it.

When they unzipped it, they discovered Garcia curled up inside.

Garcia was immediately thrown back in his prison cell, where he was already serving a nearly 10-year sentence for a car robbery while Saouda was arrested and their daughter was taken into temporary custody by Venezuelan social services.

Antonella Fiordelisi, an 18 year old Instagram celeb and model who also engages in the sport of fencing, with following of over 285,000 fans, exposed Juventus/Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain of flirting with her and asking for nudes on social media. She took to her Instagram page to reveal that the former Napoli star has been chatting with her on Whatsapp for sometime but recently asked her for a 'sexy' picture revealing 'her flesh'.


According to the WhatsApp chat, Higuian asked for her nudes, saying:

“Another one. Like the ones on Instagram.”Fiordelisi replied: “I’ll do it in a moment, hang on.” and the footballer was left waiting for her nudes, only for her to send him a pic of her 'squeezed' face.
She exposed the chat to her followers on IG and wrote ;Higuain, he asks for pictures of my arse on Twitter… he’s sick!


But following comments from her fans that she didn't need to be so harsh on the footballer by exposing the chat and then calling him 'sick', she took to her Facebook page to apologize to Higuain, saying she didn't intend to create needless gossip by uploading the chat. Translated to English, the Post reads:


"Just for clarity: I spoke with Higuain a couple of times on Instagram, and our conversations were playful and funny. I did not want to offend him – Higuain is not sick, he has always been polite with me and never inappropriate. I apologise to him, I did not intend to create needless gossip. It was just a joke. I learned my lesson"

Indian hospital builds new unit to operate on '500kg' Egyptian woman

Mumbai's Saifee Hospital in India is currently building a special facility to contain an Egyptian woman, believed to be the World's heaviest at 500kg. The facility will have an operating theatre and an intensive care unit for the woman to undergo a weight reduction surgery and will be treated by a team of doctors led by well-known bariatric surgeon, Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala.
The 36-year-old woman identified as Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty, is expected to arrive in the city on a chartered plane at the end of January and will remain at the hospital for at least six months. Eman who has not been able to leave home for twenty-five years (25), weighed 5kg (11lb) at birth and was diagnosed with elephantiasis, but Doctor Lakdawala believes she does not have elephantiasis but suffers from obesity-related lymphoedema, which causes gigantic swelling of legs.

The Indian embassy in Cairo had initially denied Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty a visa request as she won't be able to travel in person but later got a visa after Dr. Lakawala tweeted to India's foreign minister, Sushma Swaraj who did respond to help. According to BBC report, the 278 sq metre (3,000 sq ft) new facility is estimated to cost 20M rupees ($293,762) and will be ready by the end of the month.
