Six people killed and 14 others injured after a suicide bomber attacked a wedding

At least six people have been killed and 14 others wounded after a suicide bomber targeted a wedding celebration in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province.

According to local officials, the attacker set off his explosives early on Friday inside the house of a pro-government commander in Pachir Aw Agam district.

"The explosion happened at the wedding of commander Malak Tor's nephew, specifically at the time when food was being served and many people had gathered in one place. Among the six dead is Tor himself and one child" Atahullah Khogyani, a spokesman for Nangarhar province's governor said.

Khogyani said that 14 people were rushed to hospital, revising down an earlier toll of 40 wounded people. Local residents told Reuters news agency that at least 10 people were killed in the blast.

'Older people in the movie industry told me to move on after Abiodun Jimoh sexually molested me' – Actress Lizzy Jay

Days after movie producer, Abiodun Jimoh denied allegation of sexually molesting Lizzy Jay a.k.a Omo Ibadan, the actress has revealed why she went public with the allegation.

According to Lizzy Jay, she spoke up because she felt the need to give a voice to others caught up in same experience.

“I alleged that he molested me sexually. For the record, when the whole thing started, I informed my family and a few older people in the industry about it. They asked me to keep calm and move on. If I wanted to institute an action then, I would have (done so).

“I felt I needed to be at peace with my mind as regards the issue, and to give a voice to whoever is suffering or has suffered the same fate as mine, hence the outburst. Like I said on my Instagram page, the molestation of a woman is a desecration of her values. Rape trend or not, we all have our ways of addressing issues peculiar to us.

“For the record again, I maintain my stand and I reiterate all I have said without any equivocation, save for the fact that I do not intend to do further than I have done so far, having found my peace, and because of the intervention of some persons I respect like Mr Latin and Mr Yinka Quadri.

“However, if anyone feels he has been defamed by my outburst or allegation, let him seek redress and I will furnish the right quarters with my evidence,” she told Saturday Beats.

Also recounting her experience as part of Jimoh’s movie production team before her exit, she admitted that it was an interesting phase for her. She said,

“I would be a hypocrite if I say working with him for few months was not interesting. I only got to go to his movie sets once in a while; like I already said, I concentrate more on my comedy than acting. I had to eventually quit when I couldn’t cope with his several moves and actions. And for the record, he didn’t send me away, I quit, I left the group on my own; he is aware of this, as well as other people I informed about my intention to leave.”

Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz got married in February and nobody knew

Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz pulled a thriller by getting married quietly, with no one knowing or seeing their wedding photos.

The 45-year-old supermodel and the 29-year-old musician got married in February, two months after Kaulitz proposed as confirmed by People Magazine. This is however not the couple's first marriage. Heidi Klum was previously married to Ric Pipino from 1997 to 2002 and to musician Seal from 2005 to 2014, while Kaulitz was married to model Ria Sommerfeld from 2015 to 2018.

Public records show they obtained a confidential marriage certificate in California, barely a year after they sparked dating rumors after being spotted kissing on set while she was filming America’s Got Talent.

Recall that Heidi Klum had told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres in 2018 that rapper Drake had been interested in her, but she was already happily involved with Kaulitz.

"Someone who I know knows [Drake] and I guess he asked to have my number, and then he texted me," Klum said. "I was like, 'Oh, my gosh. This is so weird!' But I never texted him back, because I found the love of my life."

My mother once said she didn't save for my education for me to bring crap CDs - Zoro

Zoro while narrating how tough it was growing up, revealed that his mother was never in support of his choice of music as a career.

According to the indigenous rapper, his mother once said she wasn't saving for his education for him to bring crap CDs. Zoro who also disclosed that he wanted to become a marine engineer as a kid, said prayers helped him become an artiste.

“My mum once said she wasn’t using one ‘wrapper’ to save money to send me to school for me to bring home some crap CDs for her. As a child, I wanted to become a marine engineer. I grew up in Onitsha and Enugu; it was really tough growing up during those times but God and my family had my back, so I pulled through. My life as an undergraduate wasn’t easy; sometimes, I had to leave for school by 4.30am just to get some good place to sit" he told Saturday Beats

Buhari says armed robbers, not Fulani herdsmen killed Afenifere leader’s daughter, Funke

President Buhari in his reaction to the killing of Afenifere leader’s daughter, Mrs Funke Olakunrin, debunked claims which linked the incident to Fulani herdsmen.

Recall that it was reported that Olakunrin was shot dead, after being attacked alongside other road users by suspected Fulani herdsmen at Ore junction in Ondo State earlier on Friday.

The Presidency in its statement, said Pa Reuben Fasoranti's daughter was killed by armed robbers and not Fulani herdsmen as claimed by eyewitnesses. The statement by President Buhari's Special Adviser on (Media & Publicity) Femi Adesina on Twitter reads,

“President Muhammadu Buhari condoles with Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, whose daughter, Mrs Funke Olakunrin was killed along Ondo-Ore road by those described as armed robbers by Ondo Police Command. He prays God to give Pa Fasoranti fortitude to bear the loss."

CiSHAN reacts after nurse exposed identity of HIV patients at her hospital

The Civil Society for HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (CiSHAN), has started off an investigation and a petition to relevant authorities against the nurse who exposed the identites of HIV patients at the hospital she works with in Rivers State.

CiSHAN condemned the act which they say will not only encourage other people to stigmatize and discriminate against people living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria, but will also increase the already high stigma index in the country. It also revealed that preliminary investigation revealed that the nurse's name is Deborah Chinasa Anaba, and not Ejimbe Lilian as claimed in her Facebook handle.

The statement reads in full;

The attention of the Civil Society for HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (CiSHAN) has been drawn to the purported social media publication by a practicing Nurse who goes by the name Ejimbe Lilian targeted at perpetuating stigma and discrimination against People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria.

Most worrisome is the fact that this Nurse is a licensed and trained health care professional who is under oath of confidentiality to protect both the identity of her patients and the sanctity of her profession. This singular act will not only encourage other people to stigmatize and discriminate against people living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria but will also increase the already high stigma index in the country.

Knowing that there is an Anti-Stigma and Discrimination Law in Nigeria, CiSHAN has conducted a preliminary investigation and made the following findings:

1. Her real name is Deborah Chinasa Anaba

2. She is a Staff Nurse with Nobsams Hospital 44 Trans Amadi Industrial Layout, Port Harcourt. Our State Coordinator visited the hospital to verify her real identity and matched the online pictures with the picture Hospital and her colleagues in the same hospital

3. The Medical Director of the Hospital is trying to shield her from being arrested and prosecuted

4. River State Government through the Ministry of Health has been collaborating with the Civil Society and Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS to fish-out this unfortunate poster and bring her to justice using the Anti Stigma Law.

With these preliminary findings, we have planned the following actions

1. A petition to Rivers Commissioner of Police for her immediate arrest and prosecution in accordance with the Anti-Discrimination Law

2. A petition to the Registrar of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria regarding the breech of ethical conduct and subsequent withdraw of her Nursing License/blacklisting

3. A letter to Federal Ministry of Health/PEPFAR/WHO/ River State Government to immediately investigate the treatment program in the facility and close it down to avoid further discrimination by the hospital management and staff as we suspect that Management is actively aware of her actions hence the shield, they are providing for her.

4. From her immediate family, we demand an unreserved apology to the HIV community in Nigeria.

On this Note, we want to emphasize and further educate the general public that it is an offence to disclose someone HIV status to another person without their written and documented permission. Anyone found contravening this is stigmatizing and thereby commits an offence punishable under the Anti Stigma Law enacted into law on 28th November 2014.

We urge Civil Society and PLHIV Members to remain calm as we will ensure that justice is done appropriately.

Thank you

Civil Society for HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (CiSHAN)
