Chris Brown and his babymama Ammika Harris seem to be having an issue.

The couple who share an eight-month-old son Aeko reportedly stopped following each other on Instagram late July, and now Ammika has shared a cryptic post which reads: "I'm at the 'don't talk to me unless you wanna wife me' stage."

The post comes after Chris Brown posted a picture of his hand and legs on Instagram and wrote in his caption: "YOU GONE CRY ON MY BUS OR DA BUS !?"

Nigeria’s Labour ministry denies complicity in human trafficking

Nigeria?s Labour ministry denies complicity in human trafficking

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment has denied complicity in human trafficking, following claims of illegal issuance of Recruiters’ Licence to Private Employment Agencies (PEAs).

According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Labour and Employment Charles Akpan, they've not issued any recruiters’ licence with respect to the placement of Nigerian citizens abroad in breach of the relevant provisions of the Labour Act CAP L1 2004.

Akpan noted that there is a Labour Migration Desk which seeks to ensure and create employment opportunities for Nigerians to work legally abroad, without fear of molestation, exploitation or any form of inhuman treatment or being subjected to unfair labour practices.

He said;

“Furthermore, at no time did the Federal Government issue any moratorium against issuance of recruiters’ licence.

“The ministry is empowered by sections 23, 25 and 71 of the Labour Act Cap L1 LFN 2004 to licence fit and proper persons to operate as labour contractors and private employment agencies.

“As part of the strategies to reduce irregular labour migration whilst promoting regular migration, the ministry has put in place a Labour Migration Desk to address the associated problems with the movement of skilled and low skilled persons within and outside the country.

”It is apparent from Section 25 of the Labour Act CAP L1 2004 that persons who meet the requirements for International Licences are eligible to engage in domestic recruitment as well.

“Furthermore, a recruiting agency may recruit low, middle, or highly skilled workers for placement within and outside the country.

The recruited worker must be brought before an authorised labour officer and certified by that officer as duly recruited in accordance with the provisions of the law.

“It is therefore obvious that the possession of a recruiters’ licence for foreign employment does not confer or guarantee automatic clearance for a recruiter to recruit citizens for work abroad without first complying with the procedures provided in the Labour Act.

“This is before workers travel under a contract of employment with the recruiter.

“To set the records straight, at no time did any person, body or committee request the ministry to suspend its statutory duty of issuing recruiters’ licence to qualified PEAs as being peddled by some uninformed persons.

“It is therefore not true, but a Legislative misrepresentation, for the ministry to be accused or held responsible for the huge numbers of Nigerians trafficked through the Nigerian borders every year.

“The ministry should be commended for instituting a watertight licensing regime which guarantees regular migration of Nigerians to work legitimately in other countries, and for being the Secretariat of the Nigerian Task Force against Forced Labour, Child Labour and Human Trafficking.

“Those who for reasons best known to them have mounted an orchestrated campaign to malign the image of the ministry are therefore by this medium advised to discontinue as facts are sacred."

'Has he got the time to sit there and wait?' - Rio Ferdinand hints Lionel Messi could consider Barcelona exit after 8-2 Bayern humiliation

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand, has suggested Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi may consider leaving the club following their 8-2 humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich on Friday night in the UEFA Champions League.

Messi's contract expires next year and he has yet to sign a renewal, leaving many including Ferdinand to think the curtains may be closing on the superstar's time at the club.

According to Ferdinand, he wonders if Messi has the patience to stay at Camp Nou and watch the club start from scratch.

"The question is what is Messi thinking? What is he thinking going home tonight?" Ferdinand said on BT Sport.

"The level of performances that club has given and how the squad is looking at the moment in comparison to other teams around Europe. That's the big question he will be thinking about.

"Has he got the time to sit there and wait? Football comes and goes very quickly in your life so these next two years, where he is going to have power to influence games the way he does.

"Is he going to want to do that not competing for the big titles? I don't know."

Owen Hargreaves, a former Manchester city and Manchester United star added that Barca do not have the talent around Messi like they did during the times of Pep Guardiola when Xavi and Iniesta were pulling the strings from midfield and Puyol holding the defence.

"[Luis] Suarez and Messi are looking round thinking 'I miss Iniesta, Xavi, I miss [Carles] Puyol' because those guys aren't there any more," Hargreaves said.

"Ansu Fati came on and he looked great, but he's a 17-year-old kid.

"The gap between Messi and who's going to be next, you can't [see them being successful]."

UNILAG: Due process was followed in Ogundipe's removal as VC - Pro Chancellor, Wale Babalakin says

Wale Babalakin, pro-chancellor of the University of Lagos, has said that due process was followed in the removal of the former Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe and that anyone who is against it must have been benefitting from the alleged acts of corruption' perpetrated during Ogundipe's administration.

Professor Ogundipe who was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the University in November 2017, was removed from office at a meeting of the governing council of the university, held at the National Universities Commission (NUC) in Abuja, on Wednesday, August 12.

Ogundipe and some members of staff of the University have faulted the process of his removal. saying due process wasn't followed. Ogundipe has since gone to court to challenge his removal.

However, speaking to newsmen at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, on Friday, August 14, Babalakin said the “focal minority” opposed to Ogundipe’s removal benefitted from the alleged corruption under him.

“The confusion is that most people don’t how governing council operates. There was full compliance of the law in the removal of Prof Ogundipe.

The issue has been lingering on for a long time. Series of attempt were made to reconcile but the VC was not forthcoming… a focal minority, who are benefiting from the corruption in UNILAG which has become cultural.

Due process was followed in the removal of Ogundipe. After the council committee indicted the VC, he wrote his defence in May and spoke for one hour. His sack was done in accordance with UNILAG law.

The votes were counted with each council members’ comments. Everyone voted, they didn’t just vote but they made comments and I read out all the comments.

Go and read the law, what the law said is that when a Vice Chancellor is removed and you have a complaint, you will write an appeal to the visitor. He cannot on his own, declare that he has not been removed as Ogundipe has done. He cannot on his own confront his employers. In law, he has resigned because if you challenge your employer and you are still in his employment, you have actually left.

“The weakness of Ogundipe is that his legal advisers have not done a very thorough job. There is no stalemate and there is no chaos in the university because the law would take its course. It is not in the place of the removed VC to say he has not been removed. He cannot be a judge in his own court.

“He cannot on his own declare that he has not been removed. He cannot on his own decide to confront his employer.”

Babalakin accused Ogundipe of looting the treasury of the institution during his administration as Vice-Chancellor.

“Professor Ogundipe has been looting the university and looting it recklessly, that’s the plain truth that we should not hide. There is misappropriation and there is direct looting of the university. All attempts were made to put an end to this.

The former VC spent N49 million renovating his house. Under the process, this has to be done with approval from the council, he sought no approval. To cover-up, he gave the bursar N41 million to renovate his official residence. The official residence of the bursar can be built for N41 million from scratch, this was what was spent on renovation.”

Tribunal affirms election of Duoye Diri as Bayelsa state governor

Tribunal affirms election of Duoye Diri as Bayelsa state governor

A three-man panel of the Bayelsa Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja on Saturday August 15, affirmed the election of Senator Duoye Diri as Bayelsa State Governor.

This ruling comes a month after the Supreme Court dismissed an appeal filed by a former aspirant of the Bayelsa governorship election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Timi Alaibe, challenging the candidacy of Senator Diri in the November 2019 election.

In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Owodunni, the tribunal held that the petition filed by mister Owei Woniwei of the Alliance for Democracy is incompetent and lacks merit.

The Tribunal further held that the petitioner failed to prove the allegations of the forged declaration of age and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharged certificate leveled against the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence.

The tribunal afterwards dismissed the petition and affirmed Diri's election.
