Nigeria needs to produce quality citizens and not just quantity citizens - Senator Ben Bruce
According to the 'common sense' lawmaker, 'we are popping out babies and we are not popping out wealth. That equation is dangerous to our national health. It is a potent recipe for war and insecurity. We need more producers, not more consumers'

Man pretending to be an officer tried to pull over a real detective and got arrested
When a South Florida undercover detective almost got pulled over last week, it came as a surprise that the officer attempting to conduct the traffic stop wasn't even a real one.
Despite having red and blue lights on the grill of his 2007 white Chevrolet Trailblazer, a law enforcement light bar on top of the vehicle and and a realistic-looking airsoft pistol under the front passenger seat, Matthew Joseph Erris, 26, of Dade City, was just pretending to be deputy, according to a press release from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
What Erris didn't know was that the driver of the car he tried to pull over was a real undercover detective.
The detective called 911 while keeping Erris' "patrol car" in sight, the release said. A short time later, Erris was pulled over by a real deputy and had his vehicle searched, where the fake gun and lights were found.
Erris was subsequently arrested for allegedly impersonating a law enforcement officer.

I’m Nigerian by birth - Atiku replies APC
Former Vice President and PDP Presidential candidate in the February 23rd presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has denied claims made by the APC that he is not a citizen of Nigeria.
In a petition filed at the presidetial election tribunal, the APC had alleged that Atiku is not a Nigerian by birth. In their petition, the APC stated that Atiku was born in Cameroon and so is a Cameroonian by birth and as such, is not eligible to run for president.
Responding to APC's claim, Atiku in statement himself and his party jointly filed before the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, denied the claim. The former Vice President said he was born on November 25, 1946, in Jada, Adamawa State, therefore he was a Nigerian.
He said while his father, Garba Atiku Abdulkadir, hailed from Wumo in the present-day Sokoto State, his mother, Aisha Kande, hailed from Dutse, now Jigawa State. The response in part reads
“Contrary to the allegations contained in paragraphs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the 3rd respondent’s (APC’s) reply, the petitioners state that the 1st petitioner (Atiku) is a citizen of Nigeria by birth and thus qualified to vote and be voted for and returned in the election to the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, held on Saturday February 23, 2019 going by the relevant provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
“The 1st petitioner was born on November 25, 1946, in Jada, Adamawa State, by Nigerian parents and he is, therefore, a citizen of Nigeria by birth. The 1st petitioner’s father, Garba Atiku Abdulkadir, was a Nigerian by birth who hailed from Wumo in the present-day Sokoto State, while the mother, Aisha Kande, was also a Nigerian who hailed from Dutse in the present-day Jigawa State.
“The parents of the 1st Petitioner are both Fulani, a community/tribe indigenous to Nigeria.
“The birth of the 1st petitioner in Jada, in the present-day Adamawa State of Nigeria, was occasioned by the movement of his paternal grandfather called Atiku, who was an itinerant trader, from Wumo in the present-day Sokoto State to Jada in company with his friend, Ardo Usman. That in Jada, Atiku, the grandfather of the 1st petitioner, gave birth to Garba who in tum gave birth to the 1st petitioner and named him after his father, Atiku.
“The 1st petitioner’s mother, Aisha Kande, was the grand-daughter of Inuwa Dutse who came to Jada as an itinerant trader too from Dutse in the present-day Jigawa State. All averments concerning Germany, British Cameroons, League of Nations and Plebiscite are false and misleading in relation to the 1st petitioner and therefore completely irrelevant more so that the 1st petitioner is a Nigerian by birth within the contemplation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
“The averments in the aforesaid paragraphs are indeed fabricated, contrived, made in bad faith and designed to embarrass the 1st petitioner'' he said

Former White House photographer, Pete Souza has now given the backstory to the tan suit and how the president told his staff "Don't tell me what to wear" when they tried to discourage him from wearing the suit.
Pete wrote:
At 7:30AM, apparently while he was on the treadmill in the private residence, President Obama sent a message to Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest via his secure Blackberry warning him that he planned to wear a tan suit to the Oval Office that day.[1]?

Earnest replied five minutes later at 7:35AM: “Talked to {White House Press Secretary Jay} Carney and we both agree this will be a big mistake. You are scheduled to make an appearance in the briefing room. Please ask XXXXXXXX to prepare a gray suit instead.”[2]?

Obama replied instantly, also at 7:35AM: “Don’t tell me what to wear.”[3]?

Despite the warning from Earnest and Carney, Obama did in fact wear the tan suit during his appearance in the White House briefing room, which created the biggest controversy of his administration.?

At approximately 4PM, Carney called an internal staff meeting with senior officials including Valerie Jarrett and Denis McDonough to discuss with the President how to handle the controversy.[4] McDonough’s notes from that day include the words, “We’re screwed; this is the end of his presidency.”[5]?
