SPORT:Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge sparks fears latest injury IS serious as medics struggle to diagnose issue

Daniel Sturridge is becoming a major concern for Liverpool after the striker suffered an unusual reaction to his latest knee injury.

Initially the knock was supposed to be a minor one – but the club’s medics are considering their options because identifying the problem is proving a tricky one.

Sturridge was ruled out of last week’s opening game of Jurgen Klopp’s reign at White Hart Lane after picking up a problem in the build-up to the clash against Tottenham.

He has no chance of involvement in this afternoon’s game against Southampton.

What a crock: Sturridge has a history of injury problems

The usual procedure is to send the player for a scan. However, the swelling has not subsided.

This has increased fears that the England striker may be suffering from something more serious, writes Neil Moxley in the Sunday People.

Sturridge, who signed a lengthy deal when Brendan Rodgers was in charge the Anfield club, was the subject of frustration during Klopp’s pre-match press conference on Friday.

The club’s new boss answered truthfully: “I don’t know,” when quizzed about the forward’s state of fitness.

However, it appears that on this occasion the Anfield ace may need further recuperation before the full extent of his injury can be confirmed.

CELEBRITY UPDATES:Vicky Pattison defends telling Cheryl to put on weight: "I wasn't trying to body-shame her"

Vicky Pattison

X Factor judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini believes that body-shaming should be made illegal, so it probably wasn’t too wise for Vicky Pattison to comment on her weight as she soon found out.

After suggesting that Cheryl should head down to Greggs and get herself a pie, the former Geordie Shore was viciously trolled by the star’s loyal fans, who she calls her ‘soldiers’.

Brunette beauty Vicky, who has had her own weight struggles, has defended her comments after she said: "Get yourself down to Greggs for a pie or a stottie cake. Get yourself to Newcastle pet, chill, have a night in with a Chinese."

Vicky Pattison didn't mean to be horrible about the X Factor judge

“I got shamelessly trolled by all of Cheryl’s soldiers. I understand that opinion about the nation’s sweetheart was going to be controversial but I didn’t mean it to be horrible,” Vicky explained to Daily Star Sunday.

“The abuse I got was ridiculous. It was like I was a national hate figure.”

She added: "Cheryl is one of my favourite celebrities. All I said was she was a little bit thin and should go to Greggs.

“I wasn’t trying to body-shame her but all her fans jumped down my throat.”

Fans began worrying about Cheryl after she arrived at the X Factor auditions earlier this year sporting a noticeably skinnier frame.

The songstress, who is grieving the loss of her father-in-law, later said that comments about her weight are 'not nice' .

However Vicky has explained that she believes Cheryl should consider her popularity and influence.

The reality star added: "So many women across the nation look up to her an she should bear that in mind. I don't think she will be taking this weight loss lightly and hopefully she'll be trying to gain a bit."

It was claimed that Sophia Smith had deleted photos of Liam Payne from her social networks, sparking rumours that they had split but now she’s denied that she’s broken his heart.

One Direction fans were quick to speculate that 22-year-old Liam had split up with Sophia when he pulled out of a Belfast show earlier this week at the last minute.

A statement was released stating that he had been too sick to perform, but fans were quick to think the worst – pointing the finger at his long-term girlfriend.

Now, Sophia has got fed up and tried to shut down suggestions that they’ve gone their separate ways.

She captioned the shot: "i love you more and more every day. #stop #the #rumours".

In the early hours of Saturday, the singer appeared melancholy, tweeting: “I love how music is always there for you when you need it most x.”

Last week’s sudden cancellation, which was announced after support act Jamie Lawson performed, had already led to concern for the star.

Bandmates Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson apologised before Liam broke his silence a day later.

He said he was “feeling much better now” and that he couldn’t wait to “make it up” with the rescheduled gig, which went ahead on Friday.

In August it emerged the band were planning to take an extended break from March after five years of constant touring and recording.

Simon Cowell , who created the group on The X Factor in 2010, said: “Even though they were young, that was a gruelling schedule and after a while I could see they were exhausted.

"So when they asked how I feel about it I said for them to do whatever they want.”

Liam has yet to confirm the rumours of a split, and a One Direction representative was unavailable.

The aspiring model joined stars at the MAXIM magazine’s Halloween bash on Saturday night, where she teamed the look with a white dickie bow and a pair of white cuffs.

And of course she wore a little white bunny tail on her booty.

The 27-year-old model, who was recently linked to Drake and Rob Kardashian, is going from strength-to-strength after her public split from Chris Brown earlier this year.

After working on a number of acting projects and doing a few of her own public appearances, the star told BBC Newsbeat while on a visit to London that she was concentrating on her career.

"I used to date him, and now as I am growing into myself and maturing and getting my career together, I am starting to have my own name without having to be associated," she said.

The star realised that her relationship with the Grammy award-winner was affecting her career, and is now putting herself first.

"I feel like I shouldn't have to explain myself to anybody because this is my life and I can do whatever I want. But in the same breath, it's like, now that I am trying to focus on my career and get my stuff together, I have to clear up certain things,” she said.
