Donald Trump, first American president to appear in a porn video

In the heat of the presidential campaigns, then Republican candidate Donald Trump had promised to clamp down on pornography if elected.

Reports had it that last July 16, Trump had signed a pledge from anti-pornography group, Enough is Enough, promising to enforce laws against pornography if he won the election.
While concerned Americans await their new president to make good his promise, it turned out that President Trump had also appeared in a soft porn video which, according to BuzzFeed News, was shot to welcome the millennium models of the Playboy magazine, twin sisters Bernaola.

As reported by BuzzFeed News, Trump broke a bottle of champagne on a Playboy-branded limousine while several of the Playmates were visiting New York City.

A Playmate is a female model featured in the centrefold/gatefold of Playboy magazine as Playmate of the Month.

BuzzFeed News reports: “Other scenes from the film feature fully nude women posing in sexual positions, dancing naked, touching themselves while naked, touching each other sensually, rubbing honey on themselves, taking a bath, and dressing in costumes.

“On a bus tour hunt for the 2000 Playmate of the Year around the country, the Playmates travel to different cities including New York, Las Vegas, Chicago, Nashville, and San Diego.

“Trump welcomes the Playmates in New York and pops a bottle of champagne to kick off the New York stop. Trump then pours it over the Playboy bunny logo.” (BuzzFeed News)

"Justice would have been Jessica Nkechi alive, safe and happy" - Scotland sex worker-led charity

SCOT-PEP, a sex worker-led charity in Scotland has issued a statement following the conviction of Bala Chinda for the rape and murder of Jessica Nkechi McGraa, both Nigerians, in Aberdeen. The son of Nigerian diplomat was found guilty on Friday, January 20th, at Aberdeen’s High Court for throttling and suffocating the 37-year-old escort.
Miss McGraa was killed on February 11, 2016, and found dead in the apartment the next day. The court heard Chinda had been desperate for sex on the morning of Miss McGraa’s death, having searched for nearby escorts beforehand. The statement reads:

"We are relieved by this conviction. However, it is hard to see it as justice: justice should be Jessica alive, safe, and happy. We are praying that this conviction can bring some peace to those who are mourning Jessica. Her family – particularly her young son who so tragically and unfairly lost his mother – and friends are in our thoughts and hearts.
We would like to thank the sex workers who braved huge personal risks to testify at this trial. Being outed in the press is traumatic, life-changing and hard and you took those risks for Jessica, to hold her killer to account. SCOT-PEP is incredibly grateful to you. We would also like to thank the women who supported sex workers when they went to Aberdeen to testify. The care you showed to the witnesses speaks to the bonds of community that sustain sex workers through these intensely difficult experiences.
During the trial it was highlighted that Jessica, when in fear of her life, had called a friend rather than risk calling the police. This is a heartbreaking detail in a heartbreaking case. SCOT-PEP reiterates that the high level of enforcement of brothel-keeping laws forced sex workers in Aberdeen work alone, meaning that they are very vulnerable to violent men like Chinda.
That Jessica feared the consequences of contacting the police, even when in fear for her life, makes clear how profound the impact of this police enforcement was on sex workers and their safety. It is long past the time for the Scottish Government to gather their courage and change the law to make it possible for small groups of sex workers to share a flat for their own safety, without risking arrest.
Finally, we note with horror an atrocious comment from the defence counsel in his closing remarks. He asked the court why Chinda would rape Jessica, "when she is in the business".
This is an example of the hateful idea that sex workers can't be raped. It is also an example of the misogynist idea that rape is primarily about sex rather than about power. That this could be acceptable in a court of law in Scotland in 2017 speaks to the multitude of ways in which the criminal justice system harms sex workers, women, and sex working women. That this kind of thinking is still present in the criminal justice system illustrates why sex workers remain vulnerable to harm – a harsh irony to find this reminder in this case.
The love the entire SCOT-PEP community goes out to all affected by this unjust loss".

Donald Trump bans US funding of foreign NGOs that support abortion

President Donald Trump on Monday, signed an executive order banning foreign aid or federal funding for any international nongovernmental organizations that provide or "promote" abortions. The policy which is nicknamed 'Mexico City' policy, established by former Republican President, Ronald Reagan in 1984, blocks federal funding for international family planning charities that provide abortions or "promote" the procedure by providing patients with information about it, including by offering referrals to abortion providers.

This policy has been very political, with Democrats allowing it and Republicans blocking it.

George Bush Jr. banned it, President Obama in 2009 allowed the funding of abortion for international NGOS.
The ban comes 2 days after millions of women around the world marched in support of women rights. That demonstration will be countered on Friday by the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters at his first briefing Monday afternoon

“I think the president, it’s no secret, has made it very clear that he’s a pro-life president,” “And I think the reinstatement of this policy is not just something that echoes that value, but respects tax payer funding as well, and ensures that we’re standing up not just for life of the unborn, but for also taxpayer funds that are being spent overseas to perform an action that is contrary to the values of this president.”The move signals the beginning of a long fight over abortion that will likely continue throughout Trump’s presidency. Trump took traditionally Republican stances on abortion during his campaign, vowing to sign any legislation defunding organizations that provide the procedure and promising to appoint “pro-life” justices to the Supreme Court.
Vice President Pence is also a staunch anti-abortion advocate who passed several laws restricting the procedure while governor of Indiana. During his time in Congress, Pence introduced several bills that would have banned federal funding for organizations that provide abortions.

Republicans and anti-abortion groups cheered and praised the ban, saying it was as an advancement of "pro-life" policies and signaled that more would come throughout the Trump administration.
"Life is a precious and sacred gift, and we must do all we can to protect it," said Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Texas), chairman of the House's health subcommittee. "I applaud President Trump for taking this important action and look forward to continuing to work together in advancing pro-life policies and protecting taxpayer dollars.”

However, Democrats denounced the order as an effort to “silence the discussion of women’s reproductive choices.” Adding that women should have the right to have the government fund abortions.

The United States spends about $600 million a year on international assistance for family planning and reproductive health programs.

Trump's ban will impact foreign organizations such as the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPFF), which provides family planning services in more than 180 countries.
