No child of God should ever suffer such horror- Donald Trump explains why he attacked Syrian airfield

Donald Trump gave a statement on Thursday night after the US attacked the Syrian base in retaliation to what he has described the chemical attack in Idlib province which killed several men, women and children as an “affront to humanity”. Trump said the photos of the dead Syrian people affected him profoundly and transformed his thinking about the Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad. He called on 'all civilized nations to join us in seeking to end the slaughter and bloodshed in Syria and also to end terrorism of all kinds and all types'. Read his full statement after the cut...

My fellow Americans, on Tues Syrian dictator Bashar al Assad launched a horrible chemical weapons attack on innocent civilians. Using a deadly nerve agent, Assad choked out the lives of helpless men women and children
It was a slow and brutal death for so many. Even beautiful babies were cruelly murdered in this very barbaric attack.
No child of god should ever suffer such horror.
Tonight I ordered a targeted mil strike on the airfield in Syria from where the chemical attack was launched. It is in this vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons. There can be no dispute that Syria used banned chemical weapons, violated its obligations under the chemical weapons convention, and ignored the urging of the UN security council.
Years of previous attempts at changing Assad’s behavior have all failed and failed very dramatically.
As a result, the refugee crisis continues to deepen and the region continues to destabilize, threatening the United States and its allies.
Tonight I call on all civilized nations to join us in seeking to end the slaughter and bloodshed in Syria and also to end terrorism of all kinds and all types
We ask for God's wisdom as we face the challenge of our very troubled world. We pray for the lives of the wounded and for the souls of those who have passed. And we hope that as long as America stands for justice, that peace and harmony will in the end prevail
Goodnight and God bless America and the entire world.
Thank you.

"We will not accept any excuse that leaves part of this pension funds hanging- Dogara

Hon Yakubu Dogara, Speaker of the House of Representatives, on Thursday, urged the executive branch to ensure that all backlog of pension payments are promptly made, adding that no excuse will be accepted for failure to do so. Dogara made this statement after the minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun and Minister of Budget and Planning, Sen Udoma Udo Udoma, briefed the House on efforts they had made so far to offset arrears owed to Nigerian pensioners.

The Speaker said he was confident of the promise made by President Muhammadu Buhari that non-payment of pensions to retired Federal civil servants will be promptly taken care of. He said payment of the 33 percent arrears, should be made preferably within a month.

He said:

"We will not accept any excuse that leaves part of this pension funds hanging. When the President made a commitment that he was going to release money for bailout to States so that they can pay backlog of salaries and pensions, it happened, even though we were in the midst of a very biting recession. Now the President has said this issue of pension must be solved.

"I don't know where you got the money to bail out the states from, wherever you got the money from, that is where we are going to get the money to solve this problem. And for the ministers who are representatives of the president, I believe you won't make him (Buhari) break his words because his words are cherished. I want to believe this will be the last intervention we will be having with regards to the issue of pensions in this country. That is my charge.

"The message the House will be sending to the President through the Ministers is, when you meet him to brief him about this engagement, just tell him that we have taken his words to the bank and we believe that we will cash it."

In his remarks, president of National Union of Pensioners (NUP), Dr Abel Afolayan, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, Speaker Dogara and the House of Representatives for listening to their issues and taking action.

Wife of Former President Obasanjo claims her twin brother and future daughter-in-law are in collusion to assassinate her

Wife of Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Mrs Taiwo Obasanjo claims that her twin brother, Chief Kenny Martins, her future-daughter-in-law, Tope Adebutu ( daughter of lotto boss, Baba Ijebu) and future mother-in-law, Ms Rosemary Dacosta, hired certain people to assassinate her after a court action she filed last month to postpone her son’s wedding.
In a petition to the Commissioners of Police, Lagos State, which was dated 4 April, 2017, Mrs Obasanjo alleged:

” I was reliably informed that the three person mentioned above have perfected their plans to assassinate me because I requested the court to shift the wedding date of my son from the month of May to June 2017. Please continue....

“They also have a plan to start smear campaign on my person using various media platforms such as newspaper, internet etc..
Mrs Obasanjo’s petition to the Police Commissioner, Lagos

“Their third plan is to frame me up on false charges and get me arrested and detained by the police from the 10th -14th May, 2017 and also to involve the military police to achieve their plans.

“Sir, this issue reported here is neither a small matter nor a figment of my imagination because sometime during the time of late Head of State , Gen. Abacha, when Daddy Obasanjo was in prison, the late Stella Obasanjo got the military to detain me at DMI Apapa by Frank Omenka on false charges

“Sir, what is unfolding now is not a wedding preparation but a desperate attempt to kill me because I told Rosemary Dacosta and her daughter Tope Adebutu to allow the wedding to hold after the month of May 2017.

“Chief Kenny Martins is the leader of the planned assassination on my life. Sir, I am reporting this issue so that you can please use your good office to step in to the situation because there is a deep strange desperation attached to the wedding of my son which is now do or die wedding ceremony for them.”

When contacted, Chief Martins declined to comment on the petition, saying he was not aware of any petition by anybody against him.

“I don’t have any petition from the police on my table so I don’t react to what is not before me,” he said.

Ms Dacosta also refused to comment on petition, saying she is not interested in whatever anybody has said or saying about her.

“I don’t wanted to listen to anybody. I have no say on what is happening because I don’t know anybody. Thank you so much and bye bye,”

Anambra state Speaker Rita Maduagwu absconds with Mace to avoid impeachment

There was commotion in the Anambra State House of Assembly on Thursday after 28 members of the House had assembled at the hallowed chamber to make moves to impeach the speaker of the house, Mrs. Rita Maduagwu. When the Speaker noticed the move, she disappeared from the room with the mace, which is a symbol of authority of the legislative House.

According to reports, Governor of Anambra state, Chief Willie Obiano, heard about the impeachment move and drove to the House of Assembly complex to intervene.
The governor addressed the 28 members of the House who were members of the APGA, and tried to make a case for Mrs. Maduagwu not to be impeached but his argument fell on deaf ears. When the Speaker realized that the members were insistent on carrying out their mission, she absconded with the mace, unnoticed.

When the bell that signified her entry into the chambers rang several times, the Speaker was nowhere to be found.

Her absence made the Majority Leader, Victor Okoye, adjourn the sitting till Tuesday, April 11.

Speaking with journalists, Mr. Onyebuchi Offor, representing Ekwusigo constituency said:

“We came this morning to hold our normal session, only to be disappointed that the Speaker had absconded with the mace.
We have had poor leadership under Rita Maduagwu. But I’m assuring you that justice must prevail. No matter where she runs to, we have determined to take a decision on the leadership of this House. There is no going back, because we are here to serve Anambra people well.”
