Photos: Edo state governor pays condolence visit to Edo billionaire Chief John Osamede Adun whose wife was killed in gas explosion

Lilian Ehimwenma Adun, the fourth wife Edo state billionaire, Chief John Osamede Adun popularly called Bob Izua died in a domestic fire accident at her Lagos residence.


According to reports, the mother of 6, fondly called Mama IZ was in the kitchen when a cooking gas exploded and killed her on Monday, June 5th.




Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki on Wednesday paid a condolence visit to Chief Adun.


Commiserating with the transport guru, Obaseki described Mrs Adun as a gentle and peace-loving wife up until her last days, adding that Edo State has lost an exemplary citizen.

He also encouraged Chief Adun and other members of the family to look up to God for strength, wisdom and fortitude to bear their great loss.

South African communities give Nigerians quit notice

The Nigerian Union in South Africa says Nigerians living in two South African communities have been ordered by those communities to leave their land. This was made known by Ikechukwu Anyene, the President of the Union.
Ayene said the Kuruman community in Northern Cape Province gave Nigerians until Thursday to leave the place while the Klaafontein community, Extension 5, Johannesburg, took a more subtle approach and directed landlords not to renew the rent of Nigerians in the area. He said the South African's grouse with Nigerians is that they believe they are responsible for some social vices like illicit drug trade and prostitution.

Anyene further said a Ugandan man raped a girl in Kwazulu Natal Province but was described in the media as a Nigerian.

He said to the News Agency of Nigeria:

“The Nigeria union held series of meetings with the affected communities as well as police and local authorities on the recent threats to Nigerians. We have also written reports on these incidents and sent to the Nigerian Mission and the South African police. We recommended interventions before the June 16 deadline to the mission and we are waiting for their response. The union is worried that any incident involving non -South Africans are attributed to Nigerians. The union believes that the Early Warning Unit set up by Nigerian and South African governments has not been effective. We are yet to have any meeting since the ministers of the two countries met. Since then, there have been sustained media propaganda against our people."

Janet Jackson and estranged Husband meet in Court in London for divorce hearing

Janet Jackson and her estranged husband, Wissam Al Mana ,were seen together in a courtroom, to begin their divorce proceedings, after almost 5 years of marriage and a son together. Janet and Al Mana were spotted leaving the Royal Courts of Justice in London Thursday afternoon after the first round of their divorce proceeding.


Janet left the courtroom with her assistant and legal team while her Qatari multi-millionaire husband was by himself.

We have arrested 124 suspected rapists in Kano - Police

The Kano State Police Command has said more suspected rapists have been arrested in the state, increasing the previous number from 96 to 124 between April to June.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Magaji Musa Majia, confirmed the arrest while parading the suspects before journalists at the police headquarters on Wednesday.
The PPRO revealed that the police recorded 115 cases of rape, sodomy and other acts of indecency within the period under review.


According to him, 128 victims were involved in the crimes, out of which 124 suspects had been arrested, 94 cases charged to courts, while 13 cases were still under investigation.


He expressed worry over the increasing rate of such crimes across the state, assuring that the police would continue to do their best to curtail the situation.


DSP Majia appealed to religious leaders, traditional rulers and other well-meaning Nigerians to join hands in fighting the social vices.

Former German chancellor, Helmut Kohl has died..

Helmut Kohl, the former German chancellor, and architect of reunification in 1990, has died at the 87. Bild newspaper reports that he died today at his house in Ludwigshafen, in the western state of Rhineland-Palatinate.


Kohl served as Chancellor of Germany from 1982 to 1998 (of West Germany 1982–90 and of the reunited Germany 1990–98) and as the chairman of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) from 1973 to 1998. From 1969 to 1976, he was Minister President of Rhineland-Palatinate.

His 16-year tenure was the longest of any German Chancellor since Otto von Bismarck, and by far the longest of any democratically elected Chancellor. Kohl oversaw the end of the Cold War and is widely regarded as the mastermind of German reunification.


Kohl is also considered to be the architect of the Maastricht Treaty together with French President François Mitterrand, who both established the European Union (EU) and the euro currency.


Helmut Kohl is survived by his wife Maike Richter and his two children Walter Kohl and Peter Kohl.
