EFCC recovered N2.273b worth of cash and properties from Fayose, Obanikoro and Omisore

EFCC has recovered property and cash worth N2.273 billion from Governor Ayodele Fayose, ex-Deputy Governor Iyiola Omisore and a former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, out of the N4.685 billion allocated to them by the Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA).

According to TheNation, the said cash, which was sourced from the $2.1 billion voted for arms procurement, was meant for the 2014 governorship campaign by Fayose and Omisore on the ticket of PDP.

The trial of Omisore by EFCC is expected to begin any moment from now because charges have been preferred and filed against him. The EFCC is awaiting a date from the court for the arraignment of Omisore, who might be re-arrested.

The prosecution of Fayose is withheld till after the completion of his tenure and immediately he hands over to the next governor of the state. But Obanikoro, who was allegedly the courier of the fund to Fayose and Omisore, was still being investigated by detectives following more cases he was allegedly linked with.

A fact-sheet obtained from the EFCC revealed that out of the N4.685 billion, detectives traced N2.0030 billion to Omisore; N685 million to Obanikoro and N1.3 billion and $5.377 million (at the exchange rate of N168 to $1) to Fayose.

President Buhari is a disgrace with his comments, this man is slowly taking our pride from us - Gidi Generals

A group of young Nigerians based in Lagos known as 'Gidi Generals' have joined millions of people in condemning President Buhari's speech at the Commonwelath where he described youths of the country as 'lazy people'.

According to Gidi Generals, 'President Buhari is a disgrace with his comments and shame on all current and past members/leaders of PDP your ineptitude, greed and wreckless mismanagement of the country is the reason we've ended up with this man who has failed to deliver on his campaign promises, blames everyone but himself, insults us, ridicules us to the world, assaults us and so on'.

They added that President Buhari is slowing taking away the pride of Nigerian youths with his unguarded utterances, 'this man is slowly taking our pride from us. We are being broken day by day by this Government and there is no other response than at the Polls next year'.

'We have also been left with the worst opposition party who are left to be only relevant with the social media barbs. The useless party has not gone back to the drawing board they even gave an apology online for their failures... Yo they just admitted to having failed and we've not seen steps being taken by the current leadership to investigate all former office holders and barring them from contesting for any future positions in Government which should be the minimum acceptable sign of gaining the Nigerian Youths trust. The only way is for us to go and take over any of the new Parties and show this bunch of twats we can do much much much better and return the Pride and Glory of this country. Please don't vote for PDP or APC because there is enough time for us to fix this'. President Buhari's government is worst in education funding – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has warned that the stifling of education funding under the Muhammadu Buhari government is preparing the country for a greater future doom.

It stated that the nonchalant attitude of the Buhari-led government to education appears to be the worst in the history of Nigeria with about 7 percent allocation to Education.

Chairman, University of Ibadan branch of ASUU, Dr. Deji Omole, who stated this on Monday in an interview with journalists, noted that the failure to vote enough money to public varsity education is already causing gradual crisis of confrontation between University administration and students in some parts of the country.

Omole said, “It will be difficult to have a citizen that will love the country in the future if the current trend of abandoning the poor while taking care of the rich continues. While each senators is paid N13.5million as running cost per month the same Senate appropriated a paltry sum of N66million for capital projects for University of Ibadan with students population of about 30,000.

“This can only happen where the ruling class lacks vision like Nigeria. This same government refuses to drop a kobo for the revitalization of public universities. Now many children of the masses are denied access because universities cannot admit beyond what the dilapidated infrastructure can take. Yet their parents cannot afford private university. the federal government is owing about N800billion revitalization funds to public varsities as contained in the agreements with ASUU.”

The ASUU, who vowed that the union will oppose any plan to force children of the masses out of school by imposing on them dues that are the duties of federal government, asserted that the ruling APC has performed poorly in Education.

According to him, the United States of America that members of the elite takes their children to funds her public varsities because the USA is interested in bridging the gap between the rich and the poor, and knows the negative implication of having a growing pool of illiterates as we have in Nigeria.

Omole maintained that the Buhari government has paid lip service to public education but prefers to pacify militants and terrorists.

The ASUU chairman stated that while the masses are groaning in hardship, the political class have increased their number and stored enough money taken from the collective patrimony in preparation for the 2019 general elections.
