Stray bullet hits noodles seller after police allegedly fired shots to disperse protesting women in Cross River

A noodles seller in Igwo community of Cross River has been hospitalized after she was hit by a stray bullet on Tuesday night, April 14, in Cross River state.

The woman was allegedly shot at by men of the Mopol 75 Squad of the Nigerian Police Force, Cross River Command.

The officers were trying to disperse the crowd during a face-off with women of Igwo community in Obudu local government area of the state.

The yet-to-be-identified noodles seller, who was present at the scene of the clash, is reportedly undergoing treatment in a medical facility in the state.

An eye witness told CrossRiverwatch that the police officers fired bullets and tear gas at the protesting women who stripped naked to express their displeasure.

"As at the time I left there around 9:30PM, the shooting continued and the Mopol had also fired tear gas with the women stripping bare," the eyewitness said.

Ushe Adie, another eyewitness at the scene said the protesting women threw stones into the compound shattering a windowpane and this caused police to begin shooting.

"The women were said to have thrown stones into the compound and shattered a window pane which some are saying really infuriated the Mopol men," Adie said.

According to reports, the women of the community were protesting a mass arrest by the mobile police which was followed by the alleged killing of a community head.

The women also alleged that the mobile police squad had razed the building of the Igwo clan head due to a land disagreement.

The disagreements ensued over a purpoted payment of compensations by the state government for plots of land meant for the construction of a cargo airport in the community

21-year-old meat seller arrested for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl in Abuja

A 21-year-old meat seller has been arrested for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Yakubu Diko has been remanded in prison after he was accused of tricking the young girl into his home before raping her about three weeks ago.

Abiodun Essiet, a Special Adviser to the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area council (AMAC), said Diko approached the playground where the girl was with her peers and chased everyone except the little girl, The ICIR reports.

He beckoned to the girl, pretending he wanted to send her on an errand.

When she followed him into the house, Diko allegedly squeezed a towel in the girl’s mouth, held her down and sexually abused her. He then warned her not to tell anyone what had happened.

However, on the third day after the incident, the victim started bleeding while trying to urinate and the pain made her cry. It was then that her parents became aware that she had been raped.

The parents reported the case to the community chief, who then spoke to Essiet and sought her guidance in handling the rape case.

Essiet advised the chief to report the case to the Karimo Sabo station after the girl was examined in a clinic and confirmed to have been sexually abused.

In the medical report sighted by The ICIR , the young girl’s clinical report read that her labia minora was swollen with her hymen broken, indicating forced penetration.

Dikko was arrested and locked him up in a cell.

However, after spending two weeks in the cell, the parents of the suspect pleaded with the girl’s parents to have him released, saying they were ready to settle out of court.

The girl’s family agreed and requested that the man be released.

On getting to the police station, they were referred back to Essiet, who acting as a representative of the social welfare unit of AMAC, warned that anyone who tried to frustrate the case would be arrested for obstructing justice.

The suspect, therefore, has been relocated to the Force's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further prosecution, Essiet said.

Gospel singer, Nathaniel Bassey and wife, Sarah celebrate 7th wedding anniversary

Nigerian gospel singer, Nathaniel Bassey and his wife Sarah Bassey took to Instagram to celebrate their 7th wedding anniversary.

Nathaniel Bassey who penned down a heartfelt to his wife, disclosed that he met her 12 years ago on a ministry assignment in Eket, Akwa Ibom State.

He wrote;

SARANATA 7...

About 12 years ago I met her. Went on a ministry assignment to Eket Akwa Ibom State.
She was assigned to protocol the woman of God @bemighoomayuku I was ministering with. Not knowing she left her spiritual responsibility to desire this guest music minister (Just kidding)

Anyway, long story short, She agreed to marry me. And there was nothing in the material to motivate her. Well, I remember telling her “I love God, and I work hard, and if you agree to marry me, I’ll take you away from this mkpok local government and we would travel the entire world impacting lives for Christ..” Sure she thought within her “...with this your Akpuruka Kia car abi ..?” At the end, she entered that same Akpuruka motor . And the rest they say is history. I remember someone saying to her “Is this the best you can do for your self???” But hey! She took the risk. And today she says it was well worth it.

We called our wedding/marriage THE SARANATA PROJECT. Coined from both our names. And the God who does not abandon His projects has
been helping us. Through thick and thin, He has kept us. We have both seen The forces of hell and darkness literally come for us. I mean, Real attack. Well, understandably so. They can’t stand the damage we keep doing to them. But each time, we have come out victoriously. So today, I say THANK YOU LORD. We are here because you kept us. And to my darling, I say Thank you for taking that leap of faith. It takes one with deep conviction to have done so, even when I said I had no regular salary etc.

So please don’t judge her when she looks so beautiful and has the good things of life. SHE PAID THE PRICE.
My prayer today is Psalm 138:8. “The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.”
??Psalms? ?138:8? ?KJV?? He will perfect that which concerns us, and never abandon His project, in Jesus’ name.

Happy anniversary Honey !

Sarah in her wedding anniversary message to her husband, also recalled meeting him at the airport. She revealed that in their first meeting, she caught her husband stealing glances at her through the vanity mirror.

Sarah wrote;

I remember when I first saw this tall handsome guy walk out of the airport(still does) that Thursday afternoon, he was our guest but he wasn’t my business as I was focused on receiving a female guest minister.
The ride back to my local assembly was a long one and he wasn’t suppose to be in the same car as I, but there he was.

On a number of cases I caught him @nathanielblow stealing glances at me through the vanity mirror............the rest they say is history, and I’ll keep telling it in parts.

Those same soft brown beautiful eyes haven’t stopped starring even now as I write this but boy am super glad I get to see them everyday.
Happy anniversary to us babe! 7 down 4eva 2 go.
