Man breaks wife's jaw during argument over their dog's dinner

Man breaks wife

A man broke his wife’s jaw during an argument over their dog’s dinner, forcing her to have emergency surgery.

Patrick Coleman, 47, had an argument over the dog's dinner with his wife Jaqueline Coleman and attacked her until she was rescued by a neighbour.

According to reports,  he was spared jail after his wife told the judge it would hurt her family financially and cost her sons their home if he went to prison.

Liverpool Crown Court heard he was being "aggressive" in their living room in St Helens, Merseyside on October 10, 2020.

Judge David Aubrey said the argument “appears to have related to the family dog” and how it was “either eating or not eating his or her meal” when he "lost it".

Speaking to Coleman, the judge said; "the red mist descended" and "it was the first occasion that you had ever laid a finger on your wife”.

The judge said if there had been “any suggestion of prior domestic violence” he would have been jailed.

Paul Blasbery, prosecuting, said Coleman shoved his wife backwards, and then when she pushed him back, he punched her in the left side of her jaw.

He grabbed her and threw her onto the stairs, before “constantly punching her to the face and the body”.

He then pushed her onto a sofa and put his hands around her neck, but "thankfully" a neighbour rushed inside and stopped the violence.

Two days later Mrs Coleman went to the hospital and had her jaw moved back into the correct position, with a titanium plate and four screws inserted.

Coleman told police "it was my fault" when arrested.

He admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm and was handed a 12-month suspended sentence.

In a victim statement, Mrs Coleman said he had never previously been violent during their 26-year relationship.

She said she was concerned about the future, had debts and a mortgage that she couldn't afford to pay on her own, if he was jailed and if she was not able to help with caring responsibilities she might also lose her job, she added.

Mrs Coleman said: "I worry this will feel like we've been punished more than Patrick."

Charles Lander, defending, said Coleman had lost his home and "the love of his wife".

Coleman wanted to "reunite" with his family "if they would want to be reunited with him”, he added.

He said Coleman, who was living in a rented bedsit but also paying towards his mortgage, had mental health issues and was drinking before the attack.

He is now free but stands the risk of facing imprisonment  if he attacks his wife again.

Meghan Markle's Suits on-screen husband, Patrick Adams, blasts royal family and the British media as he defends the Duchess of Sussex

Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle's Suits co-star, Patrick J. Adams has slammed the royal family and the British media for tormenting the Duchess of Sussex.

In a series of tweets, Patrick J. Adams, who starred alongside Markle for several seasons on the legal drama Suits, defended the former actress from the new bullying allegations that have emerged against her from Buckingham Palace.

He sang Meghan's praise then called the royal family "archaic and toxic."

He also questioned the timing of the bullying claims made against Meghan by the Palace.

Buckingham Palace said Wednesday, March 3, that it would investigate allegations that Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, bullied several staff members after a British media report cited unnamed royal aides saying a complaint had been made against her in 2018.

Most people have accused the royal family of bringing this up to undermine Meghan's interview with Oprah Winfrey and make her seem like the bad person.

Voicing same opinion, Patrick J Adams tweeted: "It’s OBSCENE that the Royal Family, who’s newest member is currently GROWING INSIDE OF HER, is promoting and amplifying accusations of “bullying” against a woman who herself was basically forced to flea the UK in order protect her family and her own mental health.

"IMO, this newest chapter and its timing is just another stunning example of the shamelessness of an institution that has outlived its relevance, is way overdrawn on credibility and apparently bankrupt of decency.

"Find someone else to admonish, berate and torment. My friend Meghan is way out of your league."

Igbo presidency won’t solve Nigeria’s problems – Renowned economist, Alex Otti

Igbo presidency won?t solve Nigeria?s problems ? Renowned economist, Alex Otti

Former Group Managing Director, Diamond Bank Plc and two-time governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has opined that handing the Igbo Nigeria’s presidency would not solve the problem of Nigeria, as some fundamental structural problems must be handled for an egalitarian society to be institutionalised.

The renowned economist also stated that insecurity would continue in the country until poverty among the citizens is addressed.

Speaking to Sunnewsonline, he said: “A situation where close to 90 million people, representing 43 per cent of our population, live below the poverty line of less than 1.90 dollar per day, makes the country a veritable candidate for insecurity of the highest order.”

"If you have followed my politics, you would realise that I do not believe in primordial sentiments. I believe that tribe and religion are basically smokescreens used by politicians to drive personal interests."

" Having said that, I also know that arrangements about power shift have remained the fulcrum of our politics in Nigeria. That is not to say that our salvation is going to come from that."

" Given that arrangement that has had power move from North to South and power having been in the North for two terms, it should naturally move to the South. Since South-West and South-South had been in power, it should naturally shift to the South East. That is the extent to which I believe in Igbo Presidency."

"Would that solve the problem of Nigeria? I think not. There are some fundamental structural problems that must be dealt with for an egalitarian society to be institutionalised."
