Workers disappointed as Federal Government releases new minimum wage

The negotiation by the tripartite committee on a new national minimum wage, has come to an halt as the Federal Government has come to the conclusion that it can not afford more than N25,000 per month as the new minimum wage










The organized labor and Organized Private Sector (OPS) have refused to accept the figures tendered by the Federal Government and are insisting on N30,000 minimum wage per month.










The Federal Government has earlier presented N21, 700 per month as new minimum wage to the other social partners when the tripartite committee resumed sitting on Thursday, October 4th.










But not happy with what the Federal Government had presented despite the high cost of living in the country at the moment, the organized labor and Organized Private Sector (OPS), reportedly reached an accord, increasing their earlier figure to N40,000 from N25, 000

Tina Turner reveals her husband Erwin Bach donated his kidney for her transplant

Music legend Tina Turner has revealed that she underwent a kidney transplant and her second husband Erwin Bach donated a kidney after she suffered total kidney failure.



The 78-year-old revealed this in a new memoir “Tina Turner: My Love Story”, that she has suffered from kidney disease, and by 2016 her kidneys were at “20 percent and plunging rapidly.”



According to Tina, her husband didn't only promised to be by her side through every step of the way, but he even offered to give her one of his kidneys. Turner says she was shocked and “overwhelmed by the enormity of his offer,” but even more happy and thankful.



In the book which will be officially released this month, Turner encouraged people to sign up to donate organs in order to save lives.

Chidiogo Akunyili, the daughter of late Dora Akunyili, and her Canadian husband Andrew Parr held another wedding abroad months after their Nigerian wedding.

The couple who had their traditional wedding (read here) and white wedding (read here) in Agulu, Anambra, Nigeria, in June, had another wedding at the scenic Bark Lake Leadership Centre in Canada.







The ceremony was an intimate affair organised outdoors in a setting that looked like an ancient Igbo village square meeting. There was a fire in the middle while wedding guests sat around it. The bride and groom walked in to a melodious Igbo love song reminiscent of the types sung in Nollywood movies.









The couple went around to greet their guests and the high point was watching the bride's father hug her, wipe her face with a handkerchief then hug her again.

The minister also joked about the fact that the couple have had a couple of other weddings.







He said to the amusement of wedding guests:


There's just no stopping these two from getting hitched, hitched, and hitched
