Three people killed, several others injured during Isheri Day Festival in Ogun State
Three people were shot and killed while several others were allegedly injured by soldiers in Isheri Olofin community in Kara area, Ogun State.
The shooting happened on Monday night, August 12th during the celebration of the yearly ‘Isheri Day’ festival. According to ChannelsTV, one of the victims who was alleged to have been hit by a stray bullet died instantly while two others died in the hospital from gunshot wounds.
The Ogun State Police Command through its spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident and explained that two deaths have so far been reported at the Divisional Police Station in the area.
He added that investigations had begun to unravel circumstances that led to the killing.
Oyeyemi stated that those behind the killing would be brought to book and called on residents of the community to remain calm

Lesbian frowns at US government's plan to teach LGBTQ history in schools
A Lesbian lady has opposed plans by the State of Illinois to teach Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual, Transgenders and Queers history in public schools.
@xquisite2121 in a thread posted on her timeline, said by forcing such history on children, it shows that the LGBTQ community is being used.

I’m a lesbian and at this point I feel like y’all forcing the LGBT community on others . Being Gay has turned into an Agenda rather than it just being about “ LOVE and Freedom “! Y’all didn’t even teach us about Black History but y’all thought this would be a good idea . They are not going to teach it in a way where they are speaking about history . More so on forcing it upon students . I don’t agree with it at all . The LGBT community is being used at this point . Black community will never have the same Privileges

Burna Boy appears on Trevor Noah's The Daily Show, watch video of his performance
Burna Boy appeared on The Daily Show hosted by Trevor Noah on August 13, and he brought an A-game performance and his funny side to the American late night show.
The Nigerian singer who became an internationally recognized artiste with his recent album 'African Giant', appeared on the show alongside Mark Sanford, a former US representative and former Governor of South Carolina.
Burna Boy talked about his deal with Spotify to launch 'Burna Bank', his Afro-Fusion music, his album and how he met Trevor Noah on the show. He also performed his hit songs 'Anybody and Ye'.

Three children dead after boat capsizes in the English Channel
Three children have died after their boat capsized in the English Channel.
Two girls, aged 9 and 13, and a boy, aged 7, were pulled from the water at about 3:30pm yesterday, August 12, when their speedboat toppled over in the English Channel.
The children suffered cardiac arrest and later died after being found in the cabin of the boat.
According to Metro UK, a rescuer said the boat was upright when they arrived, but only the windscreen was visible and the children were stuck under water. They used the boat’s anchor to smash through the window before they could get to the first victim. Two were pulled out through the window while a third was retrieved through the cabin door.
It is believed the boat they were in suffered engine failure as it tried to turn then capsized around half a mile off the shore in Agon Countainville, Normandy.
Three adults, a man and two women, were also injured in the accident, according to French newspaper Le Figaro. A boat from a nearby sailing school went to their aid after hearing an SOS call.
Rescue spokesman Pascal Dutot said: "When I arrived at the scene with my colleague, the boat was upright, but the cabin was under water."
Ecology Minister Elisabeth Borne said: "Emotions are running high following the tragic capsize in the channel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.
"Our gratitude goes to the efforts of the lifeguards at sea and the emergency services at the scene."
An investigation has been launched.
In a statement to Le Figaro, maritime authorities said: "The boat as well as all the passengers were brought back to the beach of Passous where they were taken care, in a state of emergency, by the medical teams and the firemen."
