THE African Muzik Magazine Awards AFRIMMA has today unveiled the nominees list for the 3rd edition of the biggest African music awards in Diaspora. Following the outstanding success of the 1st and 2nd editions, AFRIMMA 2014 and AFRIMMA 2015 respectively; anticipation and expectations have hit the roof for this year’s edition set to hold in Dallas onOctober 15th, 2016.

Some of Africa’s big hitters and the most impressive names on the African music scene in the past calendar year earned a mention in  highly competitive categories. Wizkid, Flavour, Davido, Sarkodie, Aka are joined by fresh faces like Falz, Mr. Eazi, Locko and Bisa Kdei on the AFRIMMA 2016 Nominees list. Also for the first time in the history of AFRIMMA, North African music and Caribbean music have been recognized with categories.

VIDEO PREMIERE: Kiss Daniel – Jombo

Kiss Daniel whose critically acclaimed debut album, NEW ERA was released in May 2016 returns with the visuals for Jombo, one of the favorites off the album.

Imagine a love that is stifled by doubt, one that is cut back in its expressions by uncertainty and a morbid fear of the unknown-if the parents of your partner will give their blessings to your union. That is the story told in these visuals for “JOMBO” off the critically acclaimed album “NEW ERA” by KISS DANIEL.

The video which was directed by Ani James for AJE Filmworks for G-Worldwide Entertainment, follows the journey of a young couple as they try, first with initial reluctance, and finally success to introduce their affair to the lady’s parents.

Ani James explores the use of humour to weave a story that is relatable in its execution, and inspiring in its message of love serving as a bridge builder between people from different tribes and generations.

JOMBO is the first video to be shot off the NEW ERA album after the release of the first four singles “WOJU”, “LAYE”, GOOD TIME” and “MAMA” on the album. The song was produced by MASTERKRAFT, and has since become a fan favourite among fans, and especially with the various audiences that attended the recently concluded KISS DANIEL USA TOUR across major cities in the United States.

Ugo-Buzz is a triple threat – talented singer, song writer and record producer. He follows up his debut single with this mid tempo love song that doubles as a dance floor starter entitled ‘Iyo’. (Prod, Doron Clinton)

Donald Trump's youngest daughter, Tiffany Trump gave a speech at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night. The 22-year-old, who recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, is Trump's only child with second wife Marla Maples.

She was calm, poised, cool, well spoken as she focused her speech on knowing Donald as her father, and how he supported her through the ups and downs of her life.

"Please excuse me if I'm a little nervous," she began her speech. "When I graduated college a few months ago, I never expected to be here tonight addressing the nation."Tiffany mentioned that when someone "near and dear" to her died, he was the first to call.

"I believe the measure of a person is revealed in their darkest times. For me, the measure of a parent is based on how they support and bolster you when you're down."She also said she still keeps all of her childhood report cards because of her dad's sweet messages on each one.

"My dad is a natural born encourager. The last person who will ever tell you to lower your sights or give up your dream. If you do what you love, hold nothing back, and never let fear of failure get in your way, then you've pretty much figured out the Trump formula. In person, my father is so friendly, so considerate, so funny, and so real. I have admired my father all of my life, and I love him with all my heart."

: Stunning model killed on visit to Guatemala prison during riot in which 4 people were beheaded

Joanna Birriel has been identified as the stunning 24 year old model who was killed in a Guatemala prison, Mexico while she visited Bryon Lima - one of the country's most powerful inmates. Joanna was caught up in the gang violence which also involved the beheading of four inmates.

According to prison officials, Joanna visited Lima, who was a former army officer, once a month. Prosecutors claim he built a multimillion pound illegal prison empire based on threats and corruption.

The riot began when a fellow inmate threw a hand grenade at Lima and supporters protecting him attacked their rivals with guns resulting in the death of the model.

Officials blamed the violence on a rival gang led by drugs trafficker, Marvin Montiel Marin.



Lima was imprisoned for the murder of a bishop, Juan Jose Gerardi, who was bludgeoned to death with a concrete block in 1998 because the bishop opposed the previous military regime in Guatemala.

Land grabbing set to become a criminal offence in Lagos

 

Land grabbing is set to become a criminal offence in Lagos state as members of the State House of Assembly at its plenary yesterday July 19th, passed a bill seeking to criminalize the act. The bill which was passed after the third reading, prohibits forceful entry and illegal occupation of landed properties; violent and fraudulent conduct in relation to landed properties in Lagos State.

The bill has been sent to the Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode for his assent. The Speaker of the state house of assembly, Mudashiru Obasa in his submission, stated that the passage of the bill into law will give sanction to any individual who is culpable of the offence.

Donald Trump's campaign manager blames Hillary Clinton for Melania's plagiarism accusations

Donald Trump’s campaign manager has blamed Hillary Clinton for the backlash to Melania Trump’s convention speech, which had strong similarities with Michelle Obama’s convention address 8 years ago.


In interviews and at a press conference today, Paul Manafort, Donald Trump's campaign manager defended Melania Trump and accused Clinton of making it an issue.



"There’s a political tint to this whole issue," Manafort said. "We’ve noted that the Clinton camp was the first to get it out there and trying to say that there was something untoward about the speech that Melania Trump gave. It’s just another example, as far as we’re concerned, that when Hillary Clinton is threatened by a female, the first thing she does is try to destroy the person."


He also made the same argument while speaking to CNN. "This is once again an example of when a woman threatens Hillary Clinton, how she seeks out to demean her and take her down," he said, adding that the speech included common words and values and dismissed accusations of plagiarism as "just really absurd."

"We don’t believe there’s anything in that speech that doesn’t reflect her thinking. We’re comfortable that the words that she used are words that are personal to her
