Blood is thicker than water! My wife and children, are they the water or Zobo? - Peter Okoye asks fans asking him to settle with his brothers

Okoye has asked his fans to get used to the fact that he and his brothers, Paul Okoye and Jude Okoye, are no longer in a good relationship and that the music group, PSquare, is no longer in existence.

The feud between the brothers came to the front-burner on their birthday, November 18, when Peter's wife, Lola, took to her Instagram page to appeal to Peter and Paul to let their issues slide and make peace with themselves. Read here.

Paul Okoye didn't take her post lightly as he went on his Instastories to attack her, accusing her of not making any effort to reconcile them but instead taking to social media whenever it is their birthday, to make an appeal for them to settle their differences.

In a post shared on his IG page this morning, Peter addressed the concerns of his fans who have made several appeals for him to settle with his brothers and for the music group, Psquare to come back together. He opined that they should get used to the breakup as nothing lasts forever.

Regarding those who always mention that ''blood is thicker than water', the singer wondered if his wife and children have ''water and zobo'' in their system. His post reads

''It’s just 24hrs before My long awaiting single FOLLOW MY LEAD Drops! Let me get this off my chest before some people start there usual preaching!

Breaking: Abdurasheed Maina collapses in court (photos/video)

Abdulrasheed Maina, a former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Taskforce Team, collapsed in the dock during the resumed hearing in his N2bn money laundering trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday morning, December 10.

Today's sitting was scheduled for the hearing of his no-case submission, following the close of the prosecution’s case with nine witnesses earlier on Wednesday December 9.

His lawyer, Anayo Adibe, was briefing the judge, Justice Okon Abang, that his team had yet to receive the records of proceedings requested from the court’s registry when Maina suddenly slumped.

Prison officials immediately rushed towards him to resuscitate him and get him proper medical care.

Trump orders series of prisoner executions in his final days in office

Trump orders series of prisoner executions in his final days in office

Donald Trump has ordered series of federal executions even as his days in the White House come to an end.

The Trump administration together with the Justice Department, has scheduled five prisoner executions before President-elect Joe Biden's 20th January inauguration, breaking the 130-year-old precedent of halting prisoner executions during a presidential transition.

And if all executions take place, Trump will be the country's most prolific execution president in more than a century, overseeing the executions of 13 death row inmates since 2020 July.

According to the Justice Department, the five executions are to begin this week, starting with 40-year-old Brandon Bernard and 56-year-old Alfred Bourgeois. They are both scheduled to be put to death at a penitentiary in Terre Haute, Indiana.

The move by the Trump admin has been criticized by Democrats as worrying as it comes just weeks before Biden - who has said he will seek to end the death penalty - takes office.

Trump appointed Attorney General, William Barr has said his justice department is simply upholding existing law.

In July 2019, Barr announced the scheduled executions of five death row prisoners.

"Congress has expressly authorised the death penalty," the country's top legal official said in a statement at the time. "The justice department upholds the rule of law - and we owe it to the victims and their families to carry forward the sentence imposed by our justice system."

Earlier in December, the Justice department relased a memo detailing the crimes committed by the prisoners on death row.

The selected inmates had been convicted of murdering or raping children and the elderly,  Barr said.

Since the federal death penalty was reinstated by the US Supreme Court in 1988, federal executions in the US rarely happen.

Before Trump took office, only three federal executions had taken place since 1988, all carried out under Republican President George W Bush.

Since 2003, there have been no federal executions at all as multiple states in the US frown at the policy.

If the executions of Brandon Bernard and Alfred Bourgeois go ahead as scheduled, the 10 inmates executed in 2020 will bring a single-year total unmatched in modern history.

"We'd have to go back to 1896 to find another year where there were 10 or more executions," said Ngozi Ndulue, director of research at the non-partisan Death Penalty Information Center.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Mr Barr defended the post-election executions, and said he would likely schedule more before he leaves the justice department.

"I think the way to stop the death penalty is to repeal the death penalty," he said.

"But if you ask juries to impose it, then it should be carried out."

The inmates facing execution Brandon Bernard was convicted in the 1999 kidnapping and murder of two youth ministers, Todd and Stacie Bagley. He is scheduled for execution today, Thursday, 10 December.

Alfred Bourgeois is on death row for torturing and beating his two-year-old daughter to death. He is scheduled for execution on 11 December.

Lisa Montgomery strangled a pregnant woman in Missouri before cutting out and kidnapping the baby in 2004. She is scheduled for execution on 12 January, 2021.

She will be the first woman to face execution in the US since 1953.

Cory Johnson was convicted for the murder of seven people, related to his involvement with the drug trade in Richmond, Virginia. His execution is scheduled for 14 January.

Dustin John Higgs was convicted in the 1996 kidnapping and murder of three young women in the Washington, DC area. Higgs did not kill any of his victims. His co-defendant Willis Haynes did, after being instructed to by Higgs.

Higgs is scheduled for execution on 15 January.

US President-elect Joe Biden's son Hunter under investigation over his taxes and China links

US President-elect Joe Biden

The US Justice Department is reportedly investigating the finances of Hunter Biden, the son of US president-elect Joe Biden.

A person familiar with the matter has told the Associated Press that the investigation includes scrutinising some of his Chinese business dealings and other transactions.

The tax investigation was launched in 2018, the year before the elder Biden announced his candidacy for president

On Wednesday, Hunter Biden said he learned about the investigation for the first time the previous day.

He said in a statement, “I learned yesterday for the first time that the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware advised my legal counsel, also yesterday, that they are investigating my tax affairs.”

“I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors,” Hunter Biden said.

Hunter Biden, a lawyer whose late brother Beau Biden was Delaware’s attorney general before he died, did not reveal any other details of the probe.

Kim Reeves, a spokeswoman for David Weiss, the U.S. attorney for Delaware, in an email said, “Per DOJ [Department of Justice] policy, we cannot comment on an ongoing investigation.”

CNN reported that the investigation is centered on “ multiple financial issues, including whether Hunter Biden and associates violated tax and money laundering laws in business dealings in foreign countries, principally China.”

Documents filed by the IRS show Hunter and his ex-wife Kathleen Buhle had an Internal Revenue Service lien against them for taxes not paid, possibly including interest and penalties, totaling $112,805.09, until this past March.

The documents also show the lien was placed in November 2019. It is not immediately clear if the lien has anything to do with the investigation.

Separately, Hunter Biden had individual income tax liens of almost $453,890 placed on him by the District of Columbia on July 9, related to taxes owed for 2017 and 2018, according to a document on file in D.C. Recorder of Deeds Office. Those liens were cancelled six days later, records show.

The District of Columbia’s income tax rate is 8.95 percent for income above $1 million annually, plus about $85,000.

Late on Wednesday, Trump tweeted a quote from New York Post columnist Miranda Devine claiming, "10% of voters would have changed their vote if they knew about Hunter Biden."
