Apple CEO, Tim Cook takes 15% pay cut for missing sales target

iPhone maker, Apple is cutting CEO, Tim Cook's pay by 15% citing the company's failure to meet its performance goals for both sales and profits. This is because iPhone sales last year caused Apple to suffer its first annual revenue decline in 15 years.

Now Apple's board is holding its CEO and other leaders accountable for the stumbles.


While Cook's salary rose to $3 million from $2 million last year, his cash bonus took a hit. Apple awarded Cook and other executives 89.5% of their target, instead of the maximum amount like in recent years.

That meant Cook's cash bonus fell to $5.4 million in 2016, down from $8 million the year before.

Cook's total compensation was $8.7 million last year, compared with $10.3 million in 2015.

Sales of iPhones have declined in each of the past three quarters, slipping to 45.5 million in the September quarter. The problem is that Apple has faced competition from Samsung and other smartphone makers and the newest iPhones haven't featured enough upgrades to lure customers

Ciara drops defamation lawsuit against Future

Singer Ciara who is currently pregnant with her husband, NFL player, Russell Wilson's first child but her second, has dropped her $15 million defamation lawsuit against her ex boyfriend and baby daddy Future.

According to TMZ, Ciara recently filed legal documents in Superior Court in Fulton County, GA, ending her case which was caused by a radio interview Future did, which he followed up by tweets in which he accused her of being a control freak and a bad mom.

According to the documents, the case has been dismissed "with prejudice". Which means she can't refile it. Great move, she doesn't need the stress.

Ray J claims Kim Kardashian cheated on him when they dated. "She was a player. We both were"

It's only been two days into the 19th season of Celebrity Big Brother UK and Ray J has already talked about Kim Kardashian twice.
According to Us Weekly , the R&B star, 35, claims that Kim cheated on him when they dated. He made the accusation during Thursday’s episode, when he and Stacy Francis were reflecting on his relationship with the famous reality star.
When Stacy pointed out that Kim was "really into you," Ray J fired back. “Nah, but she was a player though,” he said, later adding, “You don’t really know what happened… Put it like this, we were both players. We were both cheaters."

Stacy, who is his sister Brandy's friend said she was staying at the Moesha star's house and she saw Kim styling Ray J's clothes.
"She was not a player, she was crying her eyes for you," Francis, 47, said. "You really don't know what happened though," Ray J aid. "Put it like this, we were both players. We were both cheaters."
"I don’t believe that about her," Francis continued. "I remember her being very heartbroken over you. I think she really loved you very much."Ray J and Kim met when she was working as a stylist for Brandy. They dated for about three years before things came to a halt in 2006. Their infamous 2003 sex tape was released by Vivid Entertainment.

Ray J added that he had no bad feelings towards Kanye West, adding that he listens to Kanye West’s music “all the time”.

During Celebrity Big Brother’s premiere episode earlier this week, Ray J said: "People wanna know about the sex tape with me and Kim Kardashian. Order it, put some money in my pocket."

He also talked about Whitney Houston saying that her death was his fault. He told fellow contestant Stacy Francis:

"It's something that nobody can explain. It's all my fault. All my fault... It's all my fault. All of that happened. I wasn't there"In the Diary Room confessional, he said:

‘“Stacy and I — we had a conversation about what happened with Whitney Houston before she passed,". "I never talk about it but it was something that bothered me.

After weeks of silence, Buhari reacts to Southern Kaduna killings, orders 'strong actions'

After weeks of silence, President Muhammadu Buhari has given instructions for decisive measures aimed at bringing an end to the recurring acts of violence and destruction in the Southern part of Kaduna State. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) had earlier condemned the President's silence "over the ongoing genocide in Kaduna'.

The General Secretary of CAN, Dr. Musa Asaka, said Buhari's silence in the last few weeks "speaks volume over perceived official endorsement of the dastardly and ungodly acts."
A statement issued on Thursday, by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu said:

"On the directive of President Buhari, the Inspector-General of Police was in the region on Saturday and Sunday to assess the situation at first hand. In addition to the conventional policemen deployed in the area, a squadron of mobile policemen has now been stationed there. The Nigerian army is also in the process of setting up two battalions in Southern Kaduna while the military continues to carry out air surveillance across flash points of the area.
President Buhari has equally directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to carry out a joint assessment of the situation with the sister agency in Kaduna, SEMA, to determine the level of response required for urgent aid to the victims of the violence.
These measures should soon ensure the return of normalcy to the region, while the Kaduna State government continues its peace building efforts. The President commended efforts of the State government and the security agencies in the steps taken so far to curtail the violence.
President Buhari has, once again, sent condolences to the people of Southern Kaduna, who have lost loved ones in the recent violence.The president also took to twitter. He wrote:

The 2017 season is upon us! The 74th Golden Globe Awards ceremony will kick off the 2017 awards season on Sunday night, January 8, 2017 at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.


Here’s quick rundown of what to expect at the prestigious ceremony…




The HostJimmy Fallon has been chosen as this year's awards host, which means he'll be presiding over the whole evening. He'll be joined by a number of famous faces to present the actual awards, including Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio and Kristen Wiig.

Golden Globes special tributesFollowing the godawful year of 2016, there's bound to be a lot of time spent saying goodbye to a number of famous faces.
It's not known yet whether the Globes will go down the Oscars route and pay tribute to each actor and actress who died in the last 12 months, but if it does, expect tributes to Cool Hand Luke's George Kennedy, comedian Garry Shandling, Pink Panther star Burt Kwouk, Star Trek's Anton Yelchin, R2D2 actor Kenny Baker, Willy Wonka star Gene Wilder, Robert Vaughn, Ron Glass, Florence Henderson, Peter Vaughan and Zsa Zsa Gabor.Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, who died within a day of each other after Christmas 2016, will also be given special mention, as Golden Globes producer Barry Adelman told People magazine.




"Those things are handled really well by the Oscars and the Screen Actors Guild, we do realise there were some special circumstances of very recent nature that happened and we'll be acknowledging that," he promised.

Golden Globe 2017 winnersWhile the winners' list is kept strictly under wraps until the ceremony itself, we do know that Meryl Streep will be receiving a special award. She'll be presented with the Cecil B DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award and there will be a segment of the show dedicated to her and her rich acting career.
