'I couldn't do any wrong with my mother' - Trump opens up about his parents ahead of US Mother's Day

US President Donald Trump, has opened up about his late mother, Mary Anne Trump, saying the way she brought him up played a big role in his development and success.

Trump's mum, Mary died in 2000, 16 years before he became president, but she lived long enough to see her son become a celebrity businessman.

Ahead of Mother's day this Sunday, Trump paid tribute to his mother, who was born in Scotland, emigrated to the U.S. at 17, married Fred Trump in 1936, and gave birth to five children.

'I had a great mom. I love my mom and she loved me,' Trump told the hosts of 'Fox & Friends' during a nearly hour-long interview

''Which is I must tell you, is probably not easy to do but she was so good to me. I couldn't do any wrong, which is a big problem, which is maybe why I ended up the way I ended up.'

Trump has said in the past he got 'my sense of showmanship from my mother.' and though his dad Fred died a year before his mother, Trump moving away from politics, government and talks about the media, talked about the qualities his parents had an instilled in him.

'My mother was somebody that gave me a lot of confidence and she believed in me,' Trump, 73, noted. 'My father was the same. I mean, he was a strong guy but he was a good man, very good human being, very good person. And he always had confidence in me so. And in our family.'

Trump, who has been divorced twice and is the father of five children via three wives, also said he was at an advantage for having grown up in a two-parent household.

'I had really, really good parents and it's such an advantage in life. You know, you see so much with the single families and the children growing up without a mother or father or whatever it may be. It's a very tough situation for people - a very very tough situation,' he noted.

'If you're lucky - and there's a lot of luck involved - if you're lucky enough to have one great parent or ideally two great parents, what a tremendous advantage it is in life. It's just a tremendous thing,' he said.

''I miss my parents'' Trump ended in a sober note.

Katsina Government orders lockdown in Ingawa Local Government Area over increased cases of Coronavirus

Katsina state government has ordered a total lockdown in Ingawa Local Government Area of the state over increased cases of Coronavirus.

The Secretary to the State Government Mustapha Inuwa who disclosed that Governor Aminu Masari imposed the lockdown in the local government, said it followed the announcement by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control that some persons in the area tested positive for Coronavirus.

The lockdown will be effective from 7:00 am on Sunday, May 10, 2020. Inuwa urged residents of the area to stay at home as security agents would be deployed to ensure total compliance in order to curtail the spread of virus in the state.

He also disclosed that the Governor has directed the COVID-19 committee to identify and earmark some pharmaceuticals, grains and essential commodity stores in the local government that would be allowed to offer skeletal services to the needy.

Katsina government has already closed the state's borders with Kano, Kaduna and Jigawa including the Niger Republic. Out of the 34 Local Government Areas of the state, 12 LGAs, Daura, Dutsinma, Katsina, Mani, Safana, Kankia, Matazu, Musawa, Jibia, Batagarawa, Malumfashi and Ingawa are currently under lockdown.

There's massive outbreak of COVID-19 in Bauchi town; over 100 people have died - Former House of Reps member, Ibrahim Baba writes Buhari

A former House of Reps members, Ibrahim Baba has written Buhari over an alleged massive outbreak of coronavirus in Azare, a town in Bauchi state.

In the letter dated May 8, 2020, Baba averred that the proximity of Azare to Kano and Jigawa might be responsible for the increased cases of Coronavirus in the town.

The former lawmaker who appealed to President Buhari to direct officials of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to visit the town, said over 100 Coronavirus deaths has been recorded in the town in the last one week.

“Your Excellency, Sir, I write to draw your kind attention to the massive outbreak of coronavirus in Azare town and environs in Bauchi State, which has already resulted in over 100 in the last one week, and this has thrown the entire area into great mourning, panic and confusion.

“The centrality and proximity of Azare to Bauchi, Kano and some major cities of Jigawa states make the town’s large population susceptible to the virus due to the already existing large cases of the disease in those areas.

“And because media coverage is always largely skewed toward states capital and other more prominent cities, the ongoing horrific situation in Azare has not gotten the attention it deserves, and that’s why I want to use this privilege to appeal to you for urgent action to arrest the unpalatable situations.

“Consequently therefore, I wish to appeal to your Excellency to direct the National Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) and the presidential Task force on COVID-19 to urgently reach out to Azare town with all the necessary facilities and palliatives to assist the communities there.”

He also appealed to the president to allow a facility the Central Bank of Nigeria built at a Federal Medical Centre in the town to be used for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.

“And to help in this expected effort, may I draw your attention to the fact that at the Opthamology unit and laboratory have already been built and equipped by the Central Bank of Nigeria at the Azare Federal Medical Centre Since 2013 but have not been commissioned and put to use up till now,” he said.

“This facility can be repurposed to a COVID-19 test and treatment center provided the right equipment are added, including ventilators.
“As a matter of life death, I have the utmost trust in your sense of patriotism and commitment to the well-being of Nigerians that you will assist the beleaguered people of Azare town and environs to overcome this harrowing situation. And while I look forward to your kind response, please, accept the assurance of my high esteem and loyalty.”

Influential people are mounting pressure on FG to free Chinese nationals arrested for illegal mining - Minister of mines and steel development, Olamilekan Adegbite

The Minister of mines and steel development, Olamilekan Adegbite has raised an alarm of some influential people mounting pressure on the federal government to free Chinese nationals who were paraded days ago following their arrest for illegal mining of gold in Osun state.

The Minister who addressed newsmen in Abuja, said the Coronavirus pandemic is responsible for the surge in illegal gold mining activities in the country. He also accused some soldiers of aiding illegal mining.

Adegbite said;

“Nigerians in high positions of authority [are behind them]. The Chinese are the main culprits in the illegal mining activities and we are going to meet with the Chinese embassy. We are going to present all the facts to them so that it will not appear as if we are targeting them unfairly.

“These godfathers were operating with impunity before, but they are now scared because the arrested illegal miners are naming names but they (godfathers) are denying. The law is on our side and we must prosecute these people to serve as a deterrent.”

Trump daughter’s personal assistant tests positive for Coronavirus

A personal assistant to Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump has reportedly tested positive for Coronavirus.

A source familiar with the matter told CNN that the assistant who works in a personal capacity for US President Donald Trump’s daughter, has not been around Ivanka Trump in several weeks.

It was gathered that the Personal Assistant who is asymptomatic, has been teleworking for nearly two months and was tested out of caution. Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner on the other hand, both tested negative on Friday.

This is coming days after a personal valet to Trump tested positive in what was the first confirmed case of a staffer inside the White House contracting the deadly virus.

New York Times reported that Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, staffers and reporters are getting tested daily to stop the spread of the virus even as the White House continues to downplay the importance of testing and support reopening measures across the country.

LIB reported earlier that Vice President Mike Pence's spokesperson Katie Miller, who also serves as a spokesperson for the White House Coronavirus Task Force had also tested positive for the disease.
