Nigerians call out VP Yemi Osinbajo over re-arrest of Omoyele Sowore

Nigerians have taken to social media to condemn the re-arrest of Omoyele Sowore on Friday by the operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, less than 24 hours after he was released.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu had earlier ordered the SSS to release Sowore within 24 hours and also pay him N100,000 for improper legal conduct. The SSS then released Mr Sowore only for him and his co-defendant to be re-arrested.

Reacting to the incident, many Nigerians took to their social media platforms tothe Vice President of Nigeria, who is a Professor of Law and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria for not speaking interfering.

"The DSS acting lawlessly because Buhari doesn't want to interfere"

"Sowore supported Buhari against Jonathan. Karma is a bitch"

"Buhari is not aware of Sowore's case"

"DSS is to be blamed not Buhari"

"Osinbajo is only an assistant"

When SSS attempted to break into the National Assembly, Acting President Osinbajo fired its director-general within a few hours.

Today, SSS actually broke into a federal courtroom with guns, traumatising judges and citizens.

Sowore's case has finally boxed President Buhari in. https://t.co/wOG336Gp0G— Samuel Ogundipe (@SamuelOgundipe) December 6, 2019

Osinbajo go dey shout "Jesus Jesus my Lord"
Buhari go dey shout "Aba Allah Aba Allah"
Na Dem dey do bad things pass
Free Sowore#EndImpunity #FreeSoworeNow— Buhari Is a Tyrant (@AMOOMAYOWA6) December 6, 2019

You need not be a fan of Sowore to condemn the rascality of the DSS under this Buhari led government. No respect for the Judiciary anymore and more pathetic is the fact that our VP, Osinbajo SAN is serving under this government that doesn't believe in rule of law. #NotMyCountry— Mazi Simeon (@Mazi_Simeon) December 6, 2019

Why are people mentioning and blaming @ProfOsinbajo for the blatant disregard of rule of law and the arrest of Omoyele Sowore inside the court room, we all saw what Osinbajo did when he was acting President. Please direct your anger to Buhari becos he's the C in C.#EndImpunity— MJ (@Princekunle) December 6, 2019

Sowore, Buhari, Osinbajo, Falana, DSS

Does it really matter who trends right now? The only thing of note is that the judiciary system seems to no longer be autonomous or free from influence of the executive arm.

God help Nigeria.— Anthony J. Oyakhilome (@mr_oyakhilome) December 6, 2019

I’m starting to think that if Osinbajo threatens to resign, he might get the Sowore treatment.

Anyway, Tinubu would rather be a slave than let his puppet take a stand.— Ólùsó àti Áfàdúràjagun Íjo Patriarchy (@VillageParrot) December 6, 2019

Democracy made in Nigeria is without the luxury of rule of law as expected. The DSS operate above the law.
Sowore is all of us. If you speak out you die, if you keep quiet, you die. BTW What do we expect Osinbajo to do? summon his boss or resign ?. Falana sha ?? #ThingsFallApart— Christian Chukwu ? (@Crixtien) December 6, 2019

Buhari and Osinbajo Done Break world Record .
"First President to invade a court threatened the judge with gun and kidnapp an activist called sowore"

Buhari right now, as Sowore is back in jail.
The court, Falana, National assembly, Osinbajo all helpless!
Nigeria democracy in shambles.
Jonathan now seen as saint.
Next up.. social media shutdown!

DSS court invasion confirms Nigeria sliding into dictatorship ― PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the invasion of the sanctity of the Federal High Court by the Department of State Service DSS has further confirmed that Nigeria, under the Buhari Presidency, is finally sliding into dictatorship.

The party stated this in a statement issued in Abuja by Kola Ologbondiyan, it’s National Publicity Secretary. Read the statement below

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the furious invasion of the sanctity of the Federal High Court by the Department of State Services (DSS) further confirms that Nigeria, under the Buhari Presidency, is finally sliding into a frightening dictatorship.

The party alerts that the invasion of the court is a vindication of its earlier stand that the nation is no longer governed by democratic principles of rule or law and dictates of the constitution.

Today, the world watched with shock as operatives of the Presidency-controlled DSS, in a most horrific manner, swooped on the court, held the judiciary to ransom, disrupted proceedings, scared away the judge, chased away lawyers and journalists, attacked and re-arrested persons standing trial within the precincts of the court, in a manner that can only be obtainable in Idi Amin’s Uganda.

The invasion is in a forceful suspension of our constitutional order and a further battering of the judiciary, which points to an emerging lawlessness that can only find space in a military regime.

Without prejudice to the charge against the Convener of the “Revolution Now” movement, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, the PDP holds that, in a normal democracy, it is the duty of the court to determine the fate of an accused, according to the laws and not a resort to brute force by the government to silence persons with dissenting voices.

Our party notes that such a violation, as embarrassingly witnessed in the Abuja court this weekend, is a direct invitation to anarchy and a huge threat to the unity, peace, stability and corporate existence of our nation and the safety of our citizens.

Indeed, this is not the Nigeria our citizens yearn for and it is imperative to restate that Nigeria, under the Buhari Presidency, is fast sliding into a dark country where, laws are suspended, the judiciary is assaulted and citizens are stripped of their fundamental rights.

The PDP calls on well meaning Nigerians and the international community to call the Buhari Presidency to order before its actions derail our nation and trigger a breakdown of law and order in the land.

The international community must have more than a passing glance at the situation in Nigeria as any crisis in our country, God forbid, given our population, is capable of having a negative spill over effect across the African continent and other parts of the world.

The PDP urges Nigerians across board, irrespective of political, religious and ethnic learnings, to unite in condemnation of dictatorial tendencies of the present administration and in defending our democracy and unity as a nation.

Papa John's founder John Schnatter's wife files for divorce after 32-years of marriage

Annette Schnatter, the wife of Papa John's founder John Schnatter has filed for divorce from the pizza provocateur after 32-years of marriage.

In the court papers filed on Thursday, December 5, John's wife who identified herself as M. Annette Cos, said their marriage is irretrievably broken.

In her divorce petition, Cox points out she's self-employed but adds that John who is worth an estimated $500m is not employed.

According to the Courier-Journal, Cox said they separated on April 1, and had already come to a settlement as to how they want to separate their assets, which include Louisville's most expensive home (an $11 million, 18,000-square-foot mansion with 15 acres), a $6 million condo in Naples, Florida, and a $23 million condo in Deer Valley, Utah.

The couple who have been married since April 198, have two adult children.

The news of their divorce comes a year after the Papa John's founder was forced to resign as the CEO and board chairman of the company after using the N-word while defending support from white nationalist groups over his criticism of national anthem protests at NFL games.

Caroline Wozniacki announces retirement from tennis to focus on starting a family with her husband David Lee

Former world No 1 and a Danish professional tennis player, Caroline Wozniacki has announced she is retiring from tennis after next month's Australian Open.

The 29-year-old will end her career at Melbourne, where she won her only Grand Slam in 2018, in order to focus on starting a family and travelling the world with her husband and former NBA player David Lee.

Sharing the shocking news to her fans on Instagram, Wozniacki, who last competed in October, when she reached the semi-finals of the China Open in Beijing, wrote:

I’ve played professionally since I was 15 years old. In that time I’ve experienced an amazing first chapter of my life. With 30 WTA singles titles, a world #1 ranking for 71 weeks, a WTA Finals victory, 3 Olympics, including carrying the flag for my native Denmark, and winning the 2018 Australian Open Grand slam championship, I’ve accomplished everything I could ever dream of on the court.

I’ve always told myself, when the time comes, that there are things away from tennis that I want to do more, then it’s time to be done. In recent months, I’ve realized that there is a lot more in life that I’d like to accomplish off the court.

Getting married to David was one of those goals and starting a family with him while continuing to travel the world and helping raise awareness about rheumatoid arthritis (project upcoming) are all passions of mine moving forward.

So with that, today I am announcing that I will be retiring from professional tennis after the Australian Open in January. This has nothing to do with my health and this isn’t a goodbye, I look forward to sharing my exciting journey ahead with all of you!

Finally, I want to thank with all my heart, the fans, my friends, my sponsors, my team, especially my father as my coach, my husband, and my family for decades of support! Without all of you I could have never have done this!
