Wendy Williams honored with Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame (Photos)
Wendy Williams has been honored with a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The talk show host received the 2,677th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, October 17.
During her speech, an emotional Wendy went on to thank her family, fans and her “loyal, hard-working staff” at “The Wendy Williams Show,” as well as Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein of Debmar-Mercury, which distributes the program. She also named some of her greatest talk-show inspirations, such as Mike Douglas and Dinah Shore.
“If I don’t laugh, I’ll cry, so I’ll keep it light and laughter-y,” Williams said as she took the podium to accept her honor, choking back tears all the same. “Jack and Elvis and Mitch and people have said throughout the day ... I’m successful because I’ve done things my way. No, not exactly. It’s because I’m a good listener to advice, and if I don’t like the advice, then I do things my way.
“I did not know I would be a talk-show host, but I liked the chit-chat — I’ve always liked the chit-chat,” she said. “When they told me, ‘It’s going to be a live talk show,’ I was frightened — frightened. Doing it by myself, I had no problem with because most of my career I’ve been by myself. Even in a room full of a thousand people, I always feel like the person who doesn’t belong.”
Williams also said the honor also means a lot to her 19-year-old son, Kevin, whom she shares with estranged husband Kevin Hunter.
"My son is here with me ... he's only 19, he's only known me as Mom with the microphone, and then Mom in the headlines, and Mom saying out-of-order stuff," she explained. "So, this star means everything. Because now he's got something to look at and say, 'My mom did it.'"

Who will fund Aisha’s office? – PDP asks President Buhari
Opposition party, PDP has reacted to the recent appointment of six aides for the office of the first lady by asking President Buhari to explain how it will be funded.
In a statement released on Thursday, Ocotber 17th, the party also asked Buhari to clarify the rationale behind the office despite his promise to scrap it. The party also reacted to new directives issued to senior government officials by the president including slashing of their estacodes.
Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP spokesman, said while Buhari claims to reduce cost of governance, the presidency drains Nigeria’s valuable resources.
He said: “While the PDP is still monitoring the implementation of directive to government functionaries on cost cut, the party tasks President Buhari to take the first step by immediately fulfilling his promise to reduce the Presidential fleet, as well as cut his over-bloated entourages and curtail the opulent lifestyle in the Presidency, which is daily flaunted before suffering and impoverished Nigerians.
“We invite Nigerians to note that the Buhari Presidency has proven to be extremely expensive and a major draining pipe for valuable resources, while millions of compatriots, who look up to government for solutions, wallow in hunger and acute poverty.
“The profligacy that permeates the Buhari Presidency had further manifested in the public fight between the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, and President Buhari’s nephews over issues of opulent accommodation in our presidential villa.”
PDP also accused the president of failing to disclose the details of the presidency’s budget “despite demands by our party and other well-meaning groups in Nigeria. The failure to make the details of the Presidency budget public places a huge burden on the Buhari Presidency, particularly in the face of allegations of budgetary corruption and financial sleaze. Unless the Presidency budget is made public for Nigerians to see, any directive on cost cut remains cosmetic.”

El Chapo's son arrested leading to massive gun battle (photos/videos)
One of the sons of Mexican drug lord El Chapo has been arrested and this led to a massive shootout.
Ovidio Guzmán López, 28, is being held by Mexican authorities. He was taken into custody in the Mexican city of Culiacán and this led to a massive shootout as masked gunmen traded fire with Mexican security forces.
Ovidio is reportedly an active member of El Chapo's Sinaloa Cartel. He assumed control of part of the cartel since his father was extradited in 2017. He's reportedly facing charges in the U.S. for conspiracy to traffic cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine.
Videos shared online shows uniformed officers apparently carrying out an operation to bring in Ovidio. There are also videos of the aftermath of the arrest. It shows heavily armed gunmen in four-by-four trucks fighting an intense battle against Mexican security forces.
Some media reports said one of Guzman's sons has been killed.
The Sinaloa state government said in a statement that it was "working to restore calm and order in the face of the high-impact incidents that have occurred in recent hours in various points around Culiacan."
It called on residents to "remain calm, stay off the streets and be very attentive to official advisories on the evolving situation."
62-year-old El Chapo (real name Joaquin El Chapo Guzman) was sentenced to life in prison in July for trafficking hundreds of tons of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana into the United States over the course of a quarter-century. Despite being incarcerated, his Sinaloa cartel remains one of the most powerful in Mexico.

Sir Alex Ferguson accused of fixing Manchester United match against Juventus and was gifted a £30k gold Rolex watch
Former Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson allegedly fixed a football match with a corrupt agent who gave him a £30,000 gold Rolex, a court heard today.
Football agent, Giuseppe ‘Pino’ Pagliara, 64, made the claims to an undercover reporter posing as a businesswoman looking to invest in football players, jurors were told.
Pagliara is on trial for bribery at Southwark Crown Court alongside assistant head coach of Barnsley Football Club Tommy Wright and fellow football agent Dax Price. All three deny the charges.
The trio were charged following allegations of corruption published by the Daily Telegraph in 2016, one of which led to Sam Allardyce resigning as England manager.
He said the legendary manager fixed a champions league game against Italian giants Juventus and alleged Ferguson pocketed money from transfer deals, Southwark Crown Court heard.
Pagliara and fellow agent Dax Price allegedly tried to “impress” Claire Newell by arranging meetings with prominent footballing figures such as Steve McLaren, Harry Redknapp, and manager Neil Warnock, prosecuter Brian O’Neill QC told Southwark Crown Court.
O'Neil said Pagliara claimed that “99 percent of the people in football if they weren’t in football, would be selling second-hand cars.”
Pagliara was said to be“furious” with Redknapp for suggesting the reporter should buy a football club instead of using a legal loophole to get around a ban on third-party ownership of players in England during a meeting in July 2016, the court heard.
Describing another meeting, Mr O’Neill said: “Towards the end of the meeting Pagliara launched into what could only be described as a diatribe of Sir Alex Ferguson, accusing him of having conspired with Pagliara to fix the result of a football match between Juventus, a club which Pagliara was associated with, and Manchester United in the Champions League for which Pagliara had thanked him with a gold 30 grand Rolex watch.
“Pagliara went on to accuse Sir Alex Ferguson of having taken money as part of transfer deals. He claimed that he had paid Ferguson before.”
He added: “To the outside world, the plan being espoused by Mr. Pagliara, it would look as though the player in question was owned by the football club in Belgium when actually the player was owned by a third party.
“And that, said Pagliara, was the plan that he wanted to end upbringing to England because that’s where the money is.
“He went to speak about placing players in Italian clubs where he had various connections before moving them to England.
“‘You have to have an offshore account somewhere and that’s where we do it. For example Antonio Conte [then head coach at Chelsea[ has winked at us and said, “yeah, I want that player, is there a little coffee for me Pino?”’
“A little coffee, she said. ‘Yeah, that’s what he’ll say: yeah of course there is and now I’m negotiating a coffee as well and we are not talking about a double espresso.’
“He went on to say he would disguise it as a consultancy agreement by another trusted individual.
“‘Claire, I’ve opened so many Swiss bank accounts for managers that you would not believe’.”
Tommy Wright, 53, then assistant head coach of Championship club Barnsley, accepted a cash bribe to get players to sign up with the agents, the court was told.
Undercover reporter Claire Newell and her team set up a fake company and told Pagliara and Price that she wanted to invest in football players, jurors heard.
The court was told that they arranged for a £5,000 bribe to be handed in an envelope to Scots-born Wright, who played top-flight football for Leeds, Leicester City, Oldham, and Middlesbrough.
Wright, of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, denies two counts of accepting a bribe, while Pagliara, 64, of Bury, Greater Manchester, and Price, 48, of Sittingbourne, Kent, deny two counts of paying and facilitating a bribe.
The prosecutor said of Mr Price: “He went on to say this: ‘There are certain people like Harry Redknapp; he needs looking after. There are certain people like Neil Warnock.’
“It’s no part of this prosecution to malign those individuals about whom they spoke.
“These people were not present when these things were being said about them and were in no position therefore to challenge, deny or rebut those allegations.
“However, it’s significant evidence in the case of the defendant who said the words and any other defendant who was present and did not disassociate themselves from those words.
“And that’s because it’s evidence of that defendant’s knowledge or belief of corruption within football in this country and elsewhere and his willingness in just to condone such practices, but also to embrace and exploit them and that’s why this evidence is relevant and admissible.”
