Paramount has released the first trailer for its Jay-Z-produced, six-part documentary series about the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin titled 'Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story' based off of the book written by Martin’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin.

The series will tell the story of Martin’s life and how his death sparked the global Black Lives Matter movement. The clip shows footage of home videos, family photos, and interviews with names like Reverend Al Sharpton, Angela Davis, and Angela Rye.

“It took my son being shot down to make me stand up,” Fulton says in the clip. Martin, an unarmed black boy was shot and killed in Florida in February 2012. The shooter was neighborhood watch member George Zimmerman, who was charged with second-degree murder and acquitted in July 2013.

Jay-Z, who executive produced the series, has spoken about the project for some time now, rapping on “Black Effect” off of Everything Is Love, “Since the Kalief doc, they’ve been at my neck/ Y’all can tell ‘em Trayvon is comin’ next.” The rapper also co-produced a documentary about Kalief Browder, a Bronx teen who took his own life after spending three years in jail despite never being convicted of a crime.

Video: It's very emotional for me to come back to Nigeria 17 years after my stay here. I didn't imagine I’d be back as a president - Emmanuel Macron

French President, Emmanuel Macron was in Nigeria yesterday to witness the signing of new deal with the country at the state house Abuja before he made his way to the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos.

During his speech, the French President said he never expected to return to Nigeria under these circumstances almost 17 years after his first stay in the country.

In his words, 'It's very emotional for me to come back to Nigeria 17 years after my stay. I didn't imagine I’d be back in these conditions. Democracy is never written in advance. I'm probably a good example of that'.

Speaking about the shrine and why he chose to visit, he said, 'the Shrine is an iconic cultural hub. And I say with a lot of humility that I recognize the importance of African culture'.

''The political future of the Igbos rests on my re-election'' President Buhari

President Buhari has said that the political future of Igbos in Nigeria depends on his re-election in 2019.

The president stated this at the Southeast mega rally at Dan Anyiam Stadium in Imo State, organized by Governor Rochas Okorocha yesterday July 3rd.

Represented by the Secretary to the Federal Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, President Buhari said

“The people of the South East are part of Nigeria and they have the right to make claim where the need arises and we will all support them. “The Igbo are not good starters. But whenever they start, they can catch it. Let me say this, 2019 is an election that will make or mar the chances of Igbo in Nigeria. I want Igbo to make a paradigm shift. “We have to know that the position of the presidency is negotiable. You can argue it from the point of strength and not from the point of weakness. 2019 will determine the future of this country. Let me say this, there are 18 Christians and 18 Muslims in Buhari’s cabinet. Even the Vice President is a Christian. I see a whole lot of people coming out to be president. Let me tell them Nigeria is not a Banana republic''.

Former PMAN president, Bolaji Rosiji arraigned for N22 million fraud

Bolaji Rosiji, a former president of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, PMAN, appeared before the Ebute Metta magistrate court for allegedly defrauding a financial institution of N22 million.

Rosiji is facing trial on an eight-count charge bordering on stealing, obtaining money under false pretences, issuing of a dud cheque, obstruction of justice and threat to life. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Kehinde Omisakin, the police prosecutor, told the court that the offences were committed sometime in May 2017, June 30, and June 29 at Modupe Johnson Crescent, off Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere. She said the accused had approached Crystal Finance Ltd for a loan of N22 million which he claimed was to facilitate the launching of new pharmaceutical products. He also claimed that it would be used to finance advance payments for musical artists and venue reservation for Nigeria/India Cultural Festival which was to hold in October 2017.

“When it was time to pay back the loan, the accused issued a dud cheque and also threatened and obstructed policemen who went to execute a warrant for his arrest. He had also threatened that the policemen would die if they touch his spiritual stick. The accused also tore the Lagos state government biometric data issued to him” she said.

The offences contravened Sections 56, 112, 172, 287, 314, 319, 350 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. A.O. Komolafe, the chief magistrate, granted the accused bail in the sum of N5 million with two responsible sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till September 6.
