Donald Trump and Theresa May agree to delay Trump's visit to Britain in order to avoid protest

Donald Trump's state visit to Britain which was rumoured to have been set up for June will now be delayed so as to avoid protests in the UK over his recent policies.

The visit has now been postponed to October in order to give time for the controversy generated by his travel ban to die down. The visit is expected to be from October 5th to 8th. The date for the visit falls in at the time when Parliament will be on recess so this means Trump will not have to address MPs in Parliament and risk further protests.

Last Month speaker John Bercow moved to ban Trump from addressing Parliament as Britons took to streets to protest Trump's expected visit.

A senior government source told The Sun that Trump will like to be in the UK this year but he wants to wait for the heat to die down before making the visit.
"The White House watch what happens over here surprisingly closely, and they don't want to create a scene for our sake either," he said.
The October visit could increase Trump's chance of seeing the Queen at her Scottish castle where she holidays in the summer of every year.

Donald Trump redeems his presidency as he delivers first address to Joint Session of Congress, calls for peace and an end to hatred (Photos/Video)

After four controversial weeks of Donald Trump's Presidency, the 45th US president on Tuesdayaddressed both houses of Congress in a Joint Session of Congress and his speech has been hailed as the best since he became president a little over a month ago with most saying that he was channeling former President John F. Kennedy.

In his speech, the president called for peace, an end to hate and unity amongst political parties. He, however, reiterated his commitment to build the wall, pause admission of Muslims from seven countries into America and also repeal Obamacare.

Trump began his speech by saying that he wanted to restore peace amongst Americans and bring everyone together, both those who voted for him and those who did not. Addressing his political opponents, he said that the time for small thinking and trivial fights was behind them.

'I am here tonight to deliver a message of unity and strength, and it is a message deeply delivered from my heart,' he began, earning him an applause from supporters and a hiss from someone believed to be a Democrat.

He condemned all forms of hatred, anti-Semitism included and specifically denounced the racist shooting of two Indian men in Kansas, saying the country should unite to fight hatred and evil. He said that the end of Black History Month, which was in February, reminded him of the nation's path towards civil rights and all the work that still remains to be done.

He said; "Recent threats targeting Jewish Community Centers and vandalism of Jewish cemeteries, as well as last week's shooting in Kansas City, remind us that while we may be a Nation divided on policies, we are a country that stands united in condemning hate and evil in all its forms."

One of the highlights of his speech was when praised a Navy SEAL, William Ryan Owens, who was killed in action just eight days after Trump took office. Trump called Ryan a warrior and a hero, stating that he died while battling terrorism and securing his nation. Ryan's widow, Carryn Owens, was moved to tears as Trump called for a standing ovation for her, one that lasted for a while, accompanied by a very lengthy applause. She was consoled by First Daughter, Ivanka Trump, who was sitting next to her.

Speaking of Ryan, Trump said; "Ryan's legacy is etched into eternity.For as the Bible teaches us, there is no greater act of love than to lay down one's life for one's friends. Ryan laid down his life for his friends, for his country, and for our freedom. We will never forget Ryan."

Trump predicted a safe, more prosperous America caome 2026 when the country will be celebrating her 250th anniversary. Speaking on his science reform proposal which is still in the works, he said;

"Think of the marvels we can achieve if we simply set free the dreams of our people, cures to illnesses that have always plagued us are not too much to hope.

"American footprints on distant worlds are not too big a dream. Millions lifted from welfare to work is not too much to expect. And streets where mothers are safe from fear, schools where children learn in peace, and jobs where Americans prosper and grow are not too much to ask.

All through Trump's speech and call for unity, Democrats, dressed in white with 'Protect Our Care' badges pinned to their jackets in protest of Trump's plan to do away with Obamacare, were unimpressed and unreceptive; some laughed, others hissed and gasped in disbelief in reaction to Trump, especially when he began speaking on building the much talked about wall and also on his plan to increase effort to pause admission of Muslims from the seven previously banned country.

"We will soon begin the construction of a great wall along our southern border. It will be started ahead of schedule and, when finished, it will be a very effective weapon against drugs and crime."

On the travel ban, Trump said that "It is not compassionate, but reckless, to allow uncontrolled entry from places where proper vetting cannot occur."

Present at the Congress were families of US citizens killed by illegal immigrants. They were invited as special guests. Among them were Susan Oliver, the widow of Detective Danny Oliver, and her daughter, Jessica Davis (the widow of Detective Michael Davis Jr), Jamiel Shaw Sr whose son was killed by an illegal immigrant gang member in California.

Speaking on Obamacare medical insurance, Trump said;

"Mandating every American to buy government-approved health insurance was never the right solution for America. The way to make health insurance available to everyone is to lower the cost of health insurance, and that is what we will do.

"Remember when you were told that you could keep your doctor, and keep your plan? We now know that all of those promises have been broken.

Trump said he will support retaining one aspect of the Affordable Care Act, ensuring that patients with pre-existing medical conditions can't be denied insurance coverage. He also demanded 'a stable transition for Americans currently enrolled in the healthcare exchanges.'

Ivanka Trump shows up in $3,000 Mouret off-shoulder dress for her father's speech to Congress and gets criticized on social media

First daughter Ivanka Trump was the cynosure of all eyes at her father's first joint address to Congress on Tuesday. Dressed in an off-shoulder fushia gown by French designer Roland Mouret Rawlings valued at $3,000, Ivanka sat beside her husband Jared Kushner as she listened to her father speak.

Just before leaving for the event, Ivanka took a photo with Jared and shared on Instagram with the caption;
"Getting ready to leave The White House with @realdonaldtrump as he prepares to address Congress #JointSession."
Trump's speech has been hailed as a successful one, but a statement he made encouraging Americans to "buy American, hire American" is contradicted by Ivanka's dress which was designed by a foreigner. The lovely gown has generated a lot of controversy on social media with some criticizing her for revealing her bra strap and others saying that a cocktail gown was not appropriate for such a formal event.

Ghanaian Govt urged to make defence of homosexuals treasonable

A Christian body, Movement for the Kingdom Image (MFKI) has urged the government of President Nana Addo Akufo-Addo to enact laws that will make the defence of homosexuals a treasonable offence in the country. A statement issued and signed by the president of the group, Osempakani Kaakyire Kifi read:

'The Movement for the Kingdom Image (MFKI) wants to entreat the Akufo-Addo government to immediately enact a legislation that would make a mere defence of homosexuality a treasonable offence to control the unnecessary defence of the sacrilegious and abominable act of lesbianism and [gayness] by some unscrupulous individuals and groups in the country.
'We believe Ghana is not ready now or ever to accept this inhuman and ungodly behaviour, but the government must show its commitment not just by word of mouth but rather by a law that will restrict people from trying to defend the act.
'We observed with the greatest disappointment and panic over the past week how the Amnesty International confidently and without any shame came out to defend and called for the legalisation of homosexuality in Ghana in the name of human rights observation.”The statement added:

'His Excellency the president of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has all the powers either to accept or decline the legalisation of the act, therefore, we are appealing to the president to see the need to enact harsh laws to deal recklessly with those outcasts who want legalisation of homosexuality in Ghana".

130-years after, Harvard Law Review elects its first black female president, ImeIme Umana

In it's 130 years of existence, the Harvard Law Review never elected a black woman as president. Now, 24 year old ImeIme Umana has changed that as she becomes the first African-American to lead a journal that has the largest reach of any law journal in the world.
The Review elected its first black man as president 27 years ago. That was former President Barack Obama. It has had other minorities as presidents. And it has had female presidents, the first of whom was elected 41 years ago. But until now, never a black woman.

Umana was chosen by the Harvard Law Review's 92 student editors in what is widely considered the highest-ranked position that a student can have at the law school. The difficult election process required a thorough dissection of her work and application, and a 12-hour long deliberation of her portfolio.

In a chat with the Harvard Crimson, the school's newspaper, Umana said "I didn't realize civics could be so personal and so alive for a lot of the students. It taught me sensitivity in teaching but it also taught me, like the public defender's service, to not assume certain backgrounds, certain reactions, certain lived experiences."

The daughter of Nigerian immigrants, Umana grew up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She's a joint degree candidate at Harvard Law School and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Last summer, she interned with the public defender's office in the Bronx, and wants to serve as a public defender.
