The boxing world is currently in shock as legendary boxer, Manny Pacquiao lost his WBO Welterweight title to a relative unknown Australian boxer, Jeff Horn.



In the 12-round match dubbed the "Battle of Brisbane", 29-year-old former schoolteacher who was considered an uneven match for veteran Pacquiao was declared the winner on points: 117-111, 115-113, 115-113 by the judges.


Three-time world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis has since disputed the result on Twitter saying, 'this is what's wrong with boxing. Horn was very game but I'm hard pressed to see how he could have won that fight by any stretch!"




With the fight, Pacquiao's career record falls to 59-7-2, while Horn now stands at 17-0-1 -- on wins, losses and draws.

Notorious kidnapper, Evans, denies knowledge of lawsuits filed against IGP and others

Notorious kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike aka Evans, says he is not aware of the two fundamental Human rights lawsuits filed on his behalf by one lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje, against the IGP and three others.

The lawyer had approached the Federal High Court in Lagos last week claiming that Evans had asked him to challenge his continuous detention without trial by the police. But Evans says he's not aware of this.

Olukoya listed the Commissioner of Police in Lagos Fatai Owoseni, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos Command and the Nigeria Police Force as the respondents in the suits.

In one of the suits, Olukoya claimed Evans was asking for N300 million in damages for alleged illegal detention and unconstitutional media trial

But in an exclusive interview with Channels Television today from police detention, Evans described the lawsuits as an attempt by some persons to put him in more trouble.

“I have no hand in any case filed against the police and I did not speak with any lawyer or my father to fill a case on my behalf. All I will say is that they should temper justice with mercy” he said According to him, even if he was allowed to go home by the police, he would not go because those he has kidnapped and collected millions of Naira as ransom from would most likely try to kill him.

Fans of Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba won't be seeing him do the dabbing dance celebration anymore as he reveals a new replacement ahead of next season.


The World's most expensive footballer in a recent interview with Esquire explained that his Dabbing days are done and dusted.

When asked to explain what a Dab was, the French star said:
"First of all, it started in America with Migos. I started doing it, because I liked the music, I liked the dance, and people loved it because they can do nice videos."
Speaking further, he said:
"But Dab is Dab, now it's gone. I think I've done the last Dab of the season. Now it's the Billy dance.''
"You saw it last night [Pogba had helped United to beat Ajax the previous night]. The Billy dance is created by my friend Billax. I call him my brother, he's a football coach now. He's one of the people I grew up with. I played with them when I was a kid and they are still my best friends. So that's the dance we have. And I will make sure that everyone does it. I'll make sure that it goes on Fifa 18!"
However, 'The Billy Dance' was first broadcast to the world after Manchester United won the Europa League final against Ajax back in May. Pogba celebrated by performing the bizarre moves in front of United supporters at Stockholm's Friends Arena and the dance will appear on the next edition of FIFA, which is set to be released on September 29.

Legendary Argentinian footballer, Diego Maradona, has described Russian President Vladimir Putin as a 'phenomenon' who can bring peace to many in the world, while US leader Donald Trump is a 'cartoon character', who can't be treated seriously, according to him.
The controversial football legend made the remarks while speaking to journalists in Moscow on Friday.

According to him, “I think that after Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro, Putin – together with [Ariel] Ortega and Evo [Morales], represent the ‘top league” of political leaders.


Putin is a man who can bring peace to many in this world,” he added, describing the Russian leader as “a phenomenon; simply a phenomenon.”


On US President Trump, who he doesn't regard among the top elite, he said: “For me, he’s more of a comic.”
“He’s like a cartoon to me, if we talk about politics… Every time I see him on TV, I switch the channel,” he added.
Speaking on US dominant force in the international arena, the 56-year-old footballer said: “One shouldn’t forget about Russia, China, about North Korea. The US isn’t the county sheriff anymore. We’ll find a gun to match the one they have,” he said.


Maradona stressed that no one wants war, but “when you see such cartoon characters like Trump, you begin thinking that if such a man takes it into his head we may all become enemies.”


Latin America is feeling “increasing pressure from the right. By right, I mean the US,” which is bad for the continent, he said.
“The right is stronger now. The right has more money. They can buy a lot of things. And I’m outraged because of it – as under previous presidents, the people at least had food, but now in Argentina, there are people who are starving. It’s sad. Very sad. And it’s not only Argentina. Brazil, as well,” he said.

Steph Curry signs $201M extension deal, the richest contract in NBA history

NBA star, Stephen Curry of Golden State Warriors, has agreed to a five-year extension deal, worth around $201 million, the richest contract in the league history.


His agent Jeff Austin of Octagon, told ESPN:

'Curry is the first NBA star who will sign a supermax contract, the crossing of a $200 million threshold that eventually will become the norm for the NBA's biggest superstars.'
Golden State general manager, Bob Myers also confirmed the deal on Friday, saying that the Warriors will finalize the contract once the free-agency moratorium ends Thursday.
'An eight-year veteran, Curry has been the foundational star for the Warriors, who recently won their second NBA championship in three years.'
Curry, who's a two-time NBA MVP, four-time All-Star, and a three-time All-NBA first-team performer was drafted to the Golden State Warriors team in 2009, a rookie contract which cost around $12.7m


The basketballer has also been congratulated by his strongest rival, LeBron James of Cleveland Cavaliers, whom he has faced in the past three Finals.
