Ohanaeze youths give ''killer herdsmen'' 2 weeks to quit South East bushes and forests

The youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has given a two week ultimatum to ''killer herdsmen'' in Igboland to quit the forests and bushes in the area or be ejected by force.

Speaking at a press conference in Enugu on Tuesday June 9, the National leader of Ohanaeze youths, Arthur Obiorah, said indigenes have suffered a lot in the hands of the ''killer herdsmen''.

“We have suffered enough in the hands of these killer herdsmen who maraud our area; maim and kill our people recklessly. They rape and defile our wives and daughters. So, we can’t bear it any longer. Anyone who wants to live in Igboland is free to do so but must not live in our bushes. That’s why we have given them two weeks to vacate the bushes and forests,” he stated.

Nigerian lady who called out an about-to-wed man over alleged rape, shares more details

The Nigerian lady who called out a prospective groom over rape, has shared more details of the incident which allegedly occurred while they were still students of University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

According to Lighthouse Beacon, the man identified as Oluwafemi Oloidi allegedly raped her after buying her a bottle of Smirnoff and chips worth N600. She further claimed that even after giving him N1000 to pay back for all he bought, he went ahead with the act after hitting her head with a wooden object.

She shared screenshots of a chat she had with a mutual friend and wrote;

The second time I posted about Femi Oloidi Raping me, his friend whom I met him through inboxed me.
This are some of the Chats. I can not and would not just come up with untruths...I promised that I will tell his wife. I guess they thought I was Joking. It’s left to her to marry a rapist and live with it for the rest of her life...

He already lied to a mutual friend that he will apologize but he did not.

He is still that person that raped me ten years ago.

Lighthouse Beacon also lashed out at men she accused of being rape apologists. She wrote in a rejoinder post;

So many “guilty” men are running around my posts trying to shame me. Oh no!!

I will shame you first.

A victim of rape has no shame...instead,the rapist is the shameful criminal.

You ask me why I’m coming out now? It’s because I’m Alive and I can “come out”.

Uwa is dead, like so many others and I know you would be happier if I died as that is the only way rape victims can get audience around these parts.

I was just 17- 21 during my years at UNN and I know how almost all my friends were raped.

To a lot of UNN boys, it was a sport.

I can remember their faces as I type...many of them, hiding under the cover of fraternity memberships.

I still remember the red light areas...Hilltop, udenigwe, Ezenweze...areas you learned to avoid going for visitation to any guy because you could become a victim.

If you know any UNN female student, do well and ask.

I will go live this afternoon to speak out loud.

WHO makes dramatic U-Turn on comments about asymptomatic spread of COVID-19 after Harvard scientists slammed the organization for 'creating confusion'

The World Health Organization (WHO) has made a dramatic U-Turn on its claims that it is rare for asymptomatic Coronavirus patients to spread the virus after Harvard University scientists criticized the agency for creating confusion.

During a news conference on Monday, Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, head of WHO's emerging diseases and zoonosis unit said the transmission of Coronavirus by an asymptomatic patient is now very rare.

In her words, she said: "From the data we have, it still seems to be rare that an asymptomatic person actually transmits onward to a secondary individual."

"We have a number of reports from countries who are doing very detailed contact tracing. They're following asymptomatic cases, they're following contacts and they're not finding secondary transmission onward. It is very rare -- and much of that is not published in the literature," she said.

"We are constantly looking at this data and we're trying to get more information from countries to truly answer this question. It still appears to be rare that an asymptomatic individual actually transmits onward."

Van Kerkhove went on to describe how the novel coronavirus spreads through droplets, which can be released when someone coughs or sneezes.

"It passes from an individual through infectious droplets. If we actually followed all of the symptomatic cases, isolated those cases, followed the contacts and quarantined those cases, we would drastically reduce -- I would love to be able to give a proportion of how much transmission we would actually stop -- but it would be a drastic reduction in transmission," she said.

But researchers from Harvard say that a multitude of evidence suggests those without symptoms can, and easily do, spread coronavirus.

Harvard's Global Health Institute said research shows people without COVID-19 symptoms are spreading the disease and that 'the WHO is creating confusion by suggesting otherwise.'

According to the group, the WHO's comment was based on 'evidence from member states' that has not yet been shared with the scientific community.

'Obviously the issue about whether or not can spread symptoms is critical to controlling this,' Dr Ashish K Jha, Director of the Harvard Global Health Institute, told DailyMail.com.

'It's been the Achilles heel of this outbreak. The threat of asymptomatic spread, it's real and substantial.'

Jha said that about one in five people who contract COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, never develop symptoms.

'They feel fine throughout the disease course. That's where we think are right now,' he said.

'I would say there's good evidence that people who are infected, who have no symptoms and feel fine, can and do spread the infection.'

The WHO later called Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove's statement a 'misunderstanding,' and admitted that people with no symptoms do, in fact, spread the disease.
