How can Atiku say he has 100,000 staff, even Dangote doesn't - Buhari Media Organisation

The Buhari Media Organization (BMO) has reacted to the claim from Atiku Abubakar's camp that he would pay N33,000 as minimum wage to his staff numbering more than N100,000 members.

Niyi Akinsiju, the BMO Chairman and Cassidy Madueke, the BMO Secretary, made the organisation's position known in a statement released on Friday saying;

"We are indeed amused that Atiku, who only recently retrenched some staff of his GOTEL TV in Adamawa State without properly paying them off is dropping hints in the media about a N33,000 minimum wage for his staff.

One of his senior managers was even quoted as saying over 100,000 people are currently drawing salaries on a monthly basis from the former Vice President, so we are wondering who between him and the PDP presidential candidate is lying about the actual staff strength of the companies.

Not even Dangote Group which is the largest conglomerate in West Africa has the number of staff these people claim to be on Atiku’s payroll".

BMO however noted that this is not the first time the candidate and his people have sought to bamboozle Nigerians.

“Only a few days ago, the PDP presidential candidate promised to reduce fuel price to N90 per litre if voted into power at a time it is common knowledge that the landing cost of a litre of refined petrol is about N158.

He must have been shocked in Dubai to see how Nigerians instantly rubbished his poorly thought-out ‘campaign promise’.

While it is not in our place to advise them, we urge the Atiku campaign team and the PDP to make only realistic promises as even in propaganda, you have to be truthful to the people you seek their votes.”

56 out of the 91 registered political parties are ready for the 2019 general elections – INEC

Independent National Electoral Commission says 56 political parties out of the 91 registered parties in the country are set to participate in the 2019 general elections.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in charge of Rivers, Obo Effanga, said this during a media briefing on Friday in Port Harcourt. He said that INEC was interested in all the 91 registered political parties, adding that the commission would only deal with political parties that registered for the election in 2019.

The REC assured Rivers people that the commission was ready to ensure free, fair and credible elections in 2019, stressing that “we assure you that on the day of the elections, every material needed for the elections would be ready to ensure free, fair and credible process.”

Effanga noted that the Card Readers would be used for the 2019 general elections. He pointed out that any voter who was not accredited by the Card Reader would not cast his or her vote. He explained that provisions would be made if the Card Reader developed any hitch in the process.

The REC urged stakeholders to play their part properly, saying that security agencies, the political class, among others, should ensure that the 2019 general elections were successful. He stressed that any politician who would have objections of any kind concerning the 2019 general elections should go to court to seek redress. He called on the electorate to pick up their Permanent Voter Cards at their areas of registration to enable them to exercise their franchise on the day of the election.

Federal High Court approves the arrest and trial of Fani-Kayode, Abaribe, others over Nnamdi Kanu’s escape

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday approved for the commencement of a suit seeking an order of mandamus to compel the police and the Department of State Services to prosecute certain individuals for allegedly aiding the escape of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, from Nigeria and putting pressure on the military to produce him.

Justice John Tsoho, in a ruling on an ex parte application, granted leave to the plaintiff, Isiah Ayugu, to commence the suit, which he filed on October 31, 2018

Ayugu had described himself as a tax-paying, responsible Nigerian and lawyer. The judge, who fixed November 22 for the hearing of the suit, ordered the suit to be served on the defendants the DSS, its director-general, the police and the Inspector-General of Police.

The suit is seeking the arrest and prosecution of a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode and those who stood sureties for the bail granted Kanu by the court in April 2017. They are Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, Tochukwu Uchendu and Emmanuel Shallom Ben.

Also listed for the proposed prosecution are Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, and the IPOB leader’s relatives, Emmanuel Kanu and Uchechi Kanu. The rest, according to the plaintiff, are “all those who worked together to propagate and spread the inciting lies and falsehood that Nnamdi Kanu was abducted, arrested, kidnapped, detained, killed and assassinated by the Nigerian Army when indeed they were well aware of Kanu’s whereabouts because they played roles in helping him to escape from Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, Ayugu, in the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1254/18, said that due to Kanu’s escape from Nigeria, the IPOB leader’s trial on charges of treasonable felony had remained stalled before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja. He said as a Nigerian, his image had been damaged “by the character assassination, lies, falsehood and evil propaganda made against the Nigerian Army that the Nigerian Army has abducted, arrested, kidnapped, assassinated and killed Nnamdi Kanu.” For the suit seeking an order of mandamus to be validly commenced, the applicant is required to first seek the court’s leave.

Justice Tsoho, however, granted leave for the commencement of Ayugu’s suit shortly after the applicant’s lawyer, Mr. Oghenovo Otemu, moved his client’s ex parte application on Friday. Ruling on the application, Justice Tsoho said, “I am satisfied that the applicant has sufficient interest in the subject to which matter relates. Accordingly, the ex parte motion filed by the applicant on October 31, is granted as prayed.”

The plaintiff had instituted the suit following a viral video clip which recently emerged on the Internet showing Kanu as praying in Jerusalem, Israel, and a live press conference which the IPOB leader addressed online. The Federal Government was prosecuting Kanu and others on charges of treasonable felony at the Federal High Court in Abuja before he went missing since September 14, 2017 following a military invasion of his home in Afara-Ukwu in Umuahia, Abia State.

Meanwhile, Abaribe, who is the lawmaker representing Abia South Senatorial District, has written to the Federal Government, asking it to explain the circumstances surrounding Kanu’s disappearance in Nigeria and reappearance in Israel.

The letter, dated November 7, 2018, was addressed to the Nigerian High Commissioner to Israel, Enoch Duchi, through the Minister of Foreign Affairs. It was written through his lawyer, Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

Man who disguised as a lady to 'deceive male clients' caught after Abuja man took him home for 'sex'

The Abuja police command have arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly disguising as a woman to lure men at nightclubs in Abuja.

The suspect, Iliyasu Omika, a native of Kogi State who stays in Tungan Maje in Abuja, was among 15 suspects paraded by the FCT Police Command on Wednesday for allegedly luring men at nightclubs into amorous relationships while disguised as a lady.

Police said he was arrested at a brothel in Mpape on November 5 around 5am “after his supposed client raised alarm upon discovery that he was actually a man and not a woman as he claimed.”

When speaking with journalists, Omika denied the allegations but admitted that he met the man in a bar while he was with his sisters. He explained that the complainant offered to buy him drinks, but he turned down the offer because he does not take alcohol.

According to him, he and his sisters were in the bar to look for jobs, but the man informed him that they could get employment at the bar.

“I was in a bar and a man saw me and asked if I was Igala (ethnic group), I said yes. He offered to buy drinks for me, but I told him I don’t take alcohol, so he bought me a soft drink.

“I told him that my sisters and I were in the bar to look for jobs, but he said there were no jobs there and offered to take us to his house. He explained that we could stay the night and promised to give us N3,000 so we could go back to our village; so, we went with him to his house” he said.

“The man said my sisters should come and sleep with him, but they refused and chose to sleep in the living room. So, I slept off and the man touched my chest and upon discovering that I was a man, he called the police and I was arrested. It was at daybreak that the police came and I was taken away,” Omika added.

Hero Daniels explains what's wrong with DJ Cuppy's sound and why It hasn't been accepted

DJ Cuppy has been a trending topic on Nigerian social media since she dropped her latest song 'Charged Up' yesterday.

While many are bashing her for consistently dropping songs which they believe are below par, Linda Ikeji TV host, Hero Daniels has taken time out to analyse what's wrong with her sound and why It hasn't been accepted.

According to him, 'she's Experimenting beats from other parts of the world (werk had the London vibe and "charged up " has the South African vibe) and imposing Naija lyrics on them which isn't bad but so far hasn't been accepted. Before you can do that, you need to have stayed and gained the trust of the very hard to please Nigerian audience. If it was Tiwa savage that sang the exact same lyrics. People would be feeling the vibe'.

Let me explain what's happening to DJ Cuppy 's sound

@cuppymusic should continue with the familiar style and gain grounds and street credibility first before experimenting new fusions. Don't get me wrong, you could sometimes get lucky with new Vibes like slimcase and the shaku shaku trend— Hero Daniels?? (@hero_daniels) November 9, 2018

But I think it's time to go back to what's familiar and gradually blow our minds with your unique sound w hen you've gained enough grounds in the ever competitive Nigerian music space— Hero Daniels?? (@hero_daniels) November 9, 2018

Greenlight was hit, currency was OK but the "werk " and "charged up" needs to be charged up. Slow down your unique style for now and tweak it to suit your primary audience. Forever a Fan
