Lagos, Kaduna and Edo most indebted states in the country

According to new data from the Debt Management Office DMO, Lagos state is the most indebted state in the country. As of June 30th this year, the state owed $1.43bn in foreign debts while Kaduna state comes in as second most indebted state with its foreign debt standing at $225.28m while Edo state is ranked third with its foreign debt at $179.52m.

According to the data, the highest owing states in the subnational foreign debts include Cross River, $141.47m or 3.87 per cent; and Ogun, $103.55m or 2.83 per cent.



The Debt Management Office (DMO) data shows Nigeria's debt profile rose from N12.6 trillion at the end of 2015 to N16.3 trillion as at June 30th.

US launches blistering attack on Russia, blames country for aid convoy attack & asks Russia to halt flights in Syria

The United states Secretary of State John Kerry launched a blistering attack on Russia for its actions in Syria, blaming Russia for the recent bombing of a UN aid convoy that killed 12 aid workers and destroyed 18 of 31 Syrian Red Crescent trucks carrying UN-provided food and has asked Russia to halt all flights in the region and also force Syria to halt all its airstrikes against terrorist groups.
“I believe that to restore credibility to the process we must move forward to try to immediately ground all aircraft flying in those key areas in order to de-escalate the situation and to give a chance for humanitarian assistance to flow unimpeded.
I listened to my colleague from Russia and I sort of felt like we're in a parallel universe here. Kerry said at the presence of his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov at a United Nations meeting on Wednesday" Kerry said of their differing accounts of the conflict. He called for all planes in key areas of Syria to be immediately grounded and for countries to stop supporting those who sabotage ceasefire efforts.

According to Kerry, the US-supported opposition cannot engage in political talks to resolve the conflict in Syria, if the Syrian regime, backed by Russia, doesn't halt its air attacks on terrorists.
“And if that happens there's a chance of giving credibility back to this process,” he said of an agreement with Sergei Lavrov in Geneva earlier this month to mediate a cessation of hostilities for humanitarian purposes. How can people go sit at a table with a regime that bombs hospitals and drops chlorine gas again and again and again and again and again and acts with impunity," Kerry asked.
''You're supposed to sit there and have happy talk in Geneva while the regime drops bombs?"
According to Kerry, Russia has denied being responsible for the attack on the UN aid convoy and warehouse and have instead given four different versions of events.

Kerry said Russia initially said that the strike was a necessary response to an alleged offensive by an al-Qaeda-linked terror group, then Russia claimed they were bombing elsewhere, then that the aid convoy had been followed by militants with mortars, and then that the trucks caught fire- 4 differing story lines.
"The trucks and the food and the medicine just spontaneously combusted," Kerry said. "Anybody here believe that?" he asked. The bombing attacks on hospitals and children are "flagrant violations of international law," he added.
''There are only two countries that have planes that are flying during the night or flying in that particular area at all," Kerry said. "They are Russia and Syria."
According to the White House, Russia will be held responsible for the aid convoy attacks, regardless of whether it or the Syrian government had launched the strikes, since they have responsibility over the airspace.

FG should stop the payment of salaries and allowances to former governors who are in the senate- Femi Falana

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, in a lecture he delivered yesterday at the investiture of Mr. Dele Ojogbede as President of Rotary Club, Ikoyi in Lagos, said, it is illegal for former governors, who have been placed on life pension in their states, to also earn salaries in the National Assembly. He also said that lawmakers should not be paid their full salaries and allowances if they don't sit for the mandatory 181 days before going on a seven-month recess.
Falana counselled the Federal Government on what to do with those undermining the anti-corruption war.
In regards to former governors in the Senate, Falana said:

“It is high time the Federal Government stopped the payment of salaries and allowances to former governors who are in the senate. Since they are on pension for life, it is illegal to continue to pay them salaries and allowances at the same time.”He added that none of the 469 lawmakers in the National Assembly had justification for the entitlements they collected in the first legislative year under the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
He said:

“The APC-led National Assembly has also engaged in collecting jumbo emoluments for services not rendered to the nation. “Whereas Section 63 of the Constitution provides that the Senate and the House of Representatives shall each sit for not less than 181 days in a year, Section 68 thereof states that any legislator who fails to attend the proceedings of the Senate for less than one third of the required number of days shall automatically lose his or her seat.
“For the first legislative year which ended on June 9, the Seventh session of the National Assembly did not meet the constitutional requirement. Specifically, due to incessant recesses, the House of Representatives sat for only 104 days while the Senate sat for 96 days. This means that the Senate sat for barely 50 per cent of the required sitting period.
“Indeed, some of the senators who had to attend criminal courts where they are standing trial for corrupt practices did not seat for up to 70 days throughout the legislative year. The Senate was actually shut down on a number of occasions to enable the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki to attend the proceedings of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) where he is standing trial for false declaration of assets. And in solidarity with him, a number of senators abandoned their duties to accompany him to the tribunal.
“Since the labour policy of “no work no pay” is applicable to all public officers the legislators ought not to have been paid when they did not perform any legislative duty. “In other words, having failed to sit for the mandatory period of 181 days the legislators were not entitled to payment of and allowances for the whole legislative year.
“Having been paid full emoluments when they failed to sit for the required number of days, the legislators ought to refund some money to the treasury.
“In the circumstance, the Accountant-General of the Federation should ensure that the legislators are made to refund the money collected for the number of days they failed to sit in the National Assembly.”

The woman rumoured to be behind Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorce speaks out, denies any affair, confirms she is pregnant

Marion Cotillard, the 40 year old actress who is rumored to be behind the divorce saga between Angelina Jolie Pitt and Brad Pitt, is speaking out. The French actress took to her Instagram page to debunk the rumour that she was the cause of the couple's breakup, stating that she never had any affair with Brad and confirmed that she is pregnant with her second baby with her partner of 8 years, fellow actor, 43 year old Guillaume Canet. She wrote:



This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into.
I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up.
Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need.
Secondly to those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. This crafted conversation isn't distressing.
And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery.
Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment.

Wendy Williams happy over Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie divorce

Wendy Williams is apparently happy about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's impending divorce, saying it served Angelina right for stealing Brad from Jennifer Aniston. Insisting it was karma.
This was what she said on her show on Wednesday, while gloating. She said:



"Well, Angelina, considering how you met Brad, I am sure that you are having plenty of sleepless nights because how you get them is how you lose them. I’m just saying."

"I hate to gloat but I’ve never cared for the way they met each other to begin with. You know what? I’ll tell you what.

"The nail in the coffin… do you remember in Vanity Fair when Brad and Angelina were promoting Mr & Mrs Smith?""

Mc Galaxy hit a deal with Disney pictures and ESPN as his song 'Sekem' is featured as one of the soundtracks in new Hollywood movie 'Queen of Katwe'.

Sekem attracted Walt Disney Records, a division of ABC, INC. for use in connection with the soundtrack album for the movie “Queen of Katwe.” which stars Lupita Nyong'o, David Oyelowo and many other Hollywood actors.

Mc Galaxy Sekem will be joining Grammy Award winner, Alicia Keys' 'Back to Life' song on the project.

Mc galaxy's song,Sekem, which was never nominated, recognised or bagged for any award has attracted international producers like Swizz Beatz to do a remix of the song.
