Fake Bayelsa Muslim Pilgrims Coordinator bags 28 year jail sentence over N12m fraud

A fake Bayelsa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Cooridnator identified as Muhammad Halim Ogbobio, has been handed a 28 year jail sentence after being found guilty of N12m fraud by Justice J.E. Iyang of the Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.










The suspect who posed as the coordinator of Muslim Pigrims Welfare Board from 2009-2012, was first arraigned on a 5-count charge bordering on forgery and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of Twelve Million One Hundred and Thirty Naira (N12,130,000.00) in bogus hajj fees on March 19, 2015 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Port Harcourt Zonal office.










Muhammad Halim Ogbobio ran out of luck after his victims who were introduced to him by one Adodo Yusuf Oristsegbubemi, were unable to attend the 2012 Hajj exercise they paid a total of Twelve Million One Hundred and Thirty Naira (N12,130,000.00) for. It was further learnt that all effort to retrieve their money failed.










One of the charges reads;













“That you Muhammad Halim Ogbobio and others now at large on the 3rd day of September 2012 at Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud did obtain the sum of Six Million Seven Hundred Thousand Naira(N6,700,000.00) from one Ibrahim Abdullahi Paisa which said sum was paid into your Sky Bank account No. 1010839270 under the pretence that you are one of the Coordinators of 2012 Hajji Exercise, a pretence you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1 (1) (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act 2006 and punishable under 1 (3)of the same Act”.










Ogbobio who pleaded not guilty to the charges before the commencement of trial, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment each on counts 2, 3, 4 and 5 which he was found guilty of. He was however acquitted on count one.










The sentences are to run concurrently from March 19, 2015, the date he was arraigned.

Nigerien armed robber arrested in Jigawa

The Jigawa state police command has confirmed the arrest of 35-year-old Abdullahi Usman from Niger Republic on charges of armed robbery and killing of a Nigerian in Babura local government.



The state's police spokesperson, SP Abdu Jinjiri said the suspect was among the armed men numbering about nine, who stormed Andau village (within the Nigeria/Niger land border) and robbed people of three motorcycles before killing one Kamisu Idris of the same village.



A police team who arrived the scene after being alerted, engaged in a gun duel with the hoodlums who abandoned the three motorcycles they stole, one AK-47 rifle with nine rounds of ammunition and fled after being overpowered.



A resident of the neighbouring village identified as 30-year-old Sabi’u Magaji, was shot by the suspects in their effort to escape.



An informant of the gang identified as 25-year-old Salisu Amadu of Dorawa Tara village in Babura LGA, was arrested two days after Abdullahi Usman was apprehended.



Jinjiri said;




“The police rescued one of the suspects by name Abdullahi Usman, 35 years of Niger Republic who was seriously injured, and recovered the second AK47 rifle with eleven rounds of ammunition and a handset suspected to have been robbed.

“Two days later, one Salisu Amadu 25 years of Dorawa Tara village, Babura LGA who was an informant to the gang, was also arrested "

Pastor, Imam and 27 others arrested for violating lockdown order in Lagos

The Lagos state police has paraded 29 worshippers arrested in the state for violating the Federal Government's directive against congregational worship.



The Christan and Islamic clerics arrested alongside their congregants at different locations in the state while holding congregational services, were paraded on Monday May 11 at the Command headquarters, Ikeja.



Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu said the Islamic cleric, 40-year-old Rasheed Jimoh and others were arrested in a Mosque at Olushi, Lagos Island on 9th May, 2020 at about 1:13 pm.



The Pastor identified as 61-year-old Apostle Sherperd Moses Peter, was arrested alongside 16 others at Christ Desire Sabbath Mission, Olodi, Apapa while holding congregational service.



Odumosu said;




"They were arrested while holding a congregational prayers in violation of the order issued by Government. In a related development, on the same date at about 1600hours, Policemen on enforcement duty from Tolu Division arrested a Christian Cleric, Apostle Shepherd Moses Peter ’61 years old’ and 16 others in Christ Desire Sabbath Mission, Olodi, Apapa holding congregational service”.



The Pastor who however defended himself, said he was in church to share palliatives to his members to cushion the effect of the lockdown.



The police commissioner said the offenders will be charged to court soon.

Ahmaud Arbery killed by two shotgun blasts to chest, autopsy report reveals

An autopsy of Ahmaud Arbery conducted the day after his death has revealed he died from three shotgun wounds, two of them to the chest.



Coroner Edmund Donoghue noted the cause of death was “multiple shotgun wounds” and classified Arbery’s death as “homicide,” TMZ reported citing the autopsy report.



Two close-range shotgun blasts to the chest that planted two separate groups of shotgun pellets are what killed the 25-year-old jogger, the report said. Arbery also had a graze wound on his right wrist.



The autopsy, conducted on Feb. 24, the day after Arbery was killed, confirms that all three shots hit him.



The report also said there were no drugs or alcohol in his system, TMZ said.



The Georgia Bureau of Investigations' report, dated April 1, includes a description of what Ahmaud had on during the fatal shooting. He was wearing a white t-shirt, tan cargo shorts, gray athletic shoes, and two tan bandanas ... all of which were bloodstained.



Arbery's final moment was captured in a graphic video, which prompted a national outcry from people who called for the suspects to be arrested and charged.





Last Thursday, Gregory McMichael, 64, and his son Travis McMichael, 34, were arrested and charged with murder in connection with the killing of Ahmaud Arbery.

Nigerian lady narrates how her brother was ''murdered'' in Cyprus and the alleged attempt to cover it up

A Nigerian lady took to Twitter to narrate how her brother who would have turned 26 on May 10, was allegedly murdered in Cyprus.



@SadieB_ also alleged that there was an attempt to cover up her brother's gruesome murder with claims of him falling off a 7-storey building.



The Twitter user further revealed that when her brother's corpse was transported back to Nigeria, he had no bruise or broken skull. He only had a hole in his head which kept bleeding before he was buried.



She affirmed that her mother's classmates have refused to let go of the case which has been pushed to the desk of relevant authorities in Cyprus. @SadieB_ also attached a screenshot of a message her brother sent her mother before he was allegedly murdered.



She tweeted;




You would’ve been 26 today. 7 months ago, my younger brother was murdered in Cyprus. They tried to push the story as a suicide but my mother insisted on bringing back his body’s She’s a lawyer so she PUSHED and with the help of her classmates, had them reopen the investigation.

They published a story about him falling off a 7-story building. They thought we would let them bury him there but my mum insisted on bringing him back. As soon as she landed in Cyprus, their story began to change. They started saying they thought he was murdered,BLAH BLAH BLAH

His body was transported back to Nigeria and he had NO BRUISE OR BROKEN BONES OR EVEN A BROKEN SKULL. He only had a hole in his head which he kept bleeding from even before being buried. Mind his body came back 6 days after he was murdered and there was still blood gushing out.

Now how do you fall from a 7 story building and not have a single bruise? Well now that the ambassadors have been involved, the story has changed to a murder case. My mum’s classmates REFUSED to let it go and made sure they pushed it till it reached the authorities.

My prayer is that those that murdered my brother, those that covered it up, those that know what exactly happened but hid it and kept all our family members in anguish, those that have been peddling lies, may Allah expose every single one of you.

I don’t pray for you to experience what we did. But I pray the truth comes out to all. He was murdered, on a Friday, so in shaa Allah he’s good to go. We’re the ones that should be thinking about how our end will come. May Allah forgive us all and may He reunite us in Jannah.

Few days before he was murdered he sent my mum this and she forwarded it to me. He knew what was coming, I’m sure he felt it. We’re the people of alhamdulillah so no if only’s. Allah knows best. Allah gafarta maka Khalil dina. In shaa Allah justice will be served.

'We will win in November' - Trump reacts to trending video of him clashing with Chinese-American reporter during Covid-19 press briefing

US president, Donald Trump, has reacted to a video of him snubbing reporters after a Chinese-American reporter asked him why he always talked about America leading other nations in Coronavirus testing while Americans were dying daily.



In the press briefing which happened on Monday, Trump told a Chinese-American reporter to ask China why Coronavirus has spread and is killing people all over the world.


The lady felt offended that she was being asked that question because of her Asian roots, and kept asking Trump to explain why he said what he said.



Trump then walked out of the press briefing when he noticed that another reporter he called upon, didn't ask any question immediately but deferred to the Asian reporter who Trump had clashed with.



Trump on Tuesday morning, replied a tweet showing the video where he snubbed reporters and then walked out of the podium, He tweeted;

'The Lamestream Media is truly out of control. Look how they work (conspire!) together. They are the Enemy of the People, but don’t worry, we will WIN in November!'







Coronavirus has killed over 80,000 people in the US as at Tuesday morning, making the US the worst hit Nation according to official figures.



Trump has been criticized for his handling of the pandemic, but in defence has shifted the blame of the disease spread to China and has said he will punish China with economic sanctions over the pandemic.
