In a new interview with Telegraph, Eric Trump said he is "sure" his sister Ivanka used her influence over their father to encourage the US president to launch military action against Bashar al-Assad in Syria.



Donald Trump ordered air strikes against a Syrian air base last Thursday in response to a chemical weapons attack by the Assad regime on Tuesday that killed at least 87 people including more than 30 children.



“Ivanka is a mother of three kids and she has influence. I’m sure she said: ‘Listen, this is horrible stuff. My father will act in times like that. And by the way, he was anti doing anything with Syria two years ago. Then a leader gasses their own people, women and children. No going back on war against corruption despite recent setbacks - FG says

The Federal Government has called on Nigerians not to be discouraged by the recent setbacks in the war against corruption, promising that the serial negative outcome of corruption cases that were recorded at the high court level would not dampen the anti-graft battle.


In a statement issued in Abuja today, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, assured Nigerians that the government has appealed against all the negative decisions, and will vigorously canvass its case at the level of the Court of Appeal. He also disclosed that all the judgments are being rigorously reviewed to determine whether there were ''errors on our part or whether the government is the victim of mischief''.

''The war against corruption is going to be long, tough and arduous, but this administration is equipped, physically, mentally and intellectually, for the long haul. We must win this war because the law is our side, the people are on our side and God is on our side. This is only the beginning, so any setback will not deter or discourage us'' the Minister said.He appealed to Nigerians to continue to identify with what he described as a titanic struggle, noting:

''This is not Buhari’s war. It is Nigeria’s war of liberation from poverty, misery, sickness and wretchedness.''Alhaji Mohammed said Nigeria cannot afford unnecessary technicalities as far as the war against corruption is concerned, especially because of the adverse and devastating consequences of corruption on the polity.

''Nigerians will appreciate more the grave and dire consequences of corruption when they consider that the $9.2 million found in a village house in Southern Kaduna can finance the construction of one health centre in each of the 774 local governments in Nigeria and fund them for one year. Against this background, one can therefore imagine what Nigeria could have achieved with the $20 billion that was estimated to have been looted in the last 3 years of the immediate past administration, either in the areas of job creation or infrastructural development. The government is therefore more determined than ever to recover as much of this plundered funds as possible and use them to put our youths back to work, fix our roads and other infrastructure, equip our hospitals and universities and invest in electricity in order to bring our industries back to life and bring back some level of comfort to our homes and offices'' he said

Vladimir Putin wants the United Nations to investigate the Syria chemical attack

President Vladimir Putin says Russia will appeal to the United Nations to investigate last week's chemical attack in Syria.
Putin said this to reporters this morning that Russia would appeal to a U.N. agency in the Hague, urging it to hold an official probe.
Putin also said Russia has received intelligence about planned "provocations" using chemical weapons that would put the blame on the Syrian government.


He said the U.N. should first investigate the attack.

"It reminds me of the events in 2003 when U.S. envoys to the Security Council were demonstrating what they said were chemical weapons found in Iraq. We have seen it all already."Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, has a planned meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson tomorrow in Moscow.

Just last week, Rodrigo Alves, was in the news for a cosmetic procedure he had which bruised his skin badly (read here). Now, he has visited the plastic surgeon's place again, this time, to have another set of botox and fillers injected into his face.
The 33-year-old visited Dr Deniz Kanliada in London’s Harley Street for the cosmetic procedures which lasted three hours and it looked to be a painful procedure going from the pained look on Rodrigo's face. For the recent procedure, he had his lips plumped and fillers injected below his eyes. He can be seen in one of the photos wincing as the needle pierced his face. After they were done, the Brazilian-born surgery fanatic put an ice pack on his face before admiring the result of the procedure in a hand mirror.

He recently opened up to The Sun Online about his years of surgical procedures and how he wished people would respect his “courage and bravery” for them.

He said:

“It’s been a long journey for me. I’ve put myself through so much plastic surgery and so much pain and I wish people would give me more credit for my courage, my bravery."More photos below.

British Vogue appoints Edward Enninful as their Editor-in-Chief, first male to edit the magazine in its 100-year history

Edward Enninful has been appointed as the editor-in-chief of British Vogue, succeeding Alexandra Shulman, who resigned in January 2017 after 25 years.

Enninful, the former fashion and creative director at W Magazine, will be the first male to edit British Vogue in its 100-year history, and will begin his new role on August 1.


Ghanaian-born Enninful spent his childhood in London where, aged 16, he was model-scouted and his fashion career began.


His career to date has seen him work for Italian Vogue, American Vogue and most recently W Magazine, as well as consult on countless high-fashion campaigns.

N4bn fraud: EFCC arraigns couple that operate wonder bank, ‘Let’s Partner With You’

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today arraigned Patrick Shanchi Nwokike, Managing Director of a wonder bank, ‘Let’s Partner With You’ alongside his wife, Rosemary Ifeoma Nwokike, before Justice Dugbo Aghoghorie of the Federal High Court sitting in Enugu, Enugu State on a 10-count charge bordering on Advanced Fee Fraud and carrying out banking business without valid License.

The offence runs contrary to the provisions of Section 8 (a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and other fraud related offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act. It also breaches Section 2(1) of the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act.

Nwokike and his wife’s journey to the dock followed series of petitions from Nigerians across religious, gender, ethnic, economic and social strata alleging that their company, ‘Let’s Partner With You’, had over the past five years solicited and obtained deposits of more than N4billion from the general public with promises of mouth-watering interest in return.

Investigation revealed that, the company had no license to solicit and manage funds for the public nor was it registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, or the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC.

‘Let’s Partner With You’ was found to have over six accounts in about four banks with Nwokike and his wife being the only signatories to the accounts. Further investigations revealed that the company had, for some time, paid a 10% (ten percent) interest on invested capital but suddenly stopped and efforts by depositors to have at least their initial investments were futile.

One of the counts reads:
“That you, LET’S PARTNER WITH YOU LTD, Patrick Shanchi Nwokike (Managing Director/CEO of LET’S PARTNER WITH YOU LTD) and Rosemary Ifeoma Nwokike (Director of LET’S PARTNER WITH YOU LTD) sometime between January and April, 2016 at Enugu within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court with intent to defraud obtained the sum of N8,000,000:00 (Eight Million Naira) from Nwagbolu Emeka Onyekwelu under the false pretence of paying him 10% interest monthly on the said sum which representation you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.”


When the charge was read to them, the defendants pleaded not guilty.
In view of their plea, counsel to EFCC, Marshall Umukoro Onome prayed the court to remand the accused persons and fix a date for trial. Peter Eze and A. I. Ani, SAN, representing the first and second defendants respectively, urged the court to admit their clients to bail, which was vehemently opposed by Onome.
Justice Oghoghorie, however, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N5million each with two sureties in like sum. One of the sureties must be civil servant not below grade level 12 and resident in Enugu State. He/She must produce letter of first appointment and letter of last promotion. The second surety must be a land owner and shall produce his Certificate of Occupancy (C of O).


The case has been adjourned to June 27, 2017 for trail.

Photos: Two pastors arrested for sex trafficking of children

The FBI has arrested two pastors on charges of sex trafficking of children in Toledo, Ohio.

Cordell Jenkins, 46, and Anthony Haynes, 37, were taken into custody by FBI agents on Friday morning, April 7th.

Jenkins is the pastor of Abundant Life Ministries in Toledo. Haynes rented a space at the University Bible Fellowship as the pastor of Greater Life Christian Center until 2016.Federal documents accuse the men of recruiting, enticing and transporting people they knew were under 18 to engage in sex acts for pay. An agent’s criminal complaint says the alleged activity started three years ago with a girl who was then 14.

The affidavit says Haynes and a woman on multiple occasions engaged in sex acts with the victim at local hotels. Haynes is accused of paying her money to keep the encounters to herself. Prosecutors also said Haynes introduced the teenager to others who paid the girl for sex.

Jenkins is allegedly one of those adults. Prosecutors said he had sex with the girl at a Red Roof Inn in Toledo and in his office in a nearby church.

A U.S. magistrate judge Friday ordered Jenkins and Haynes held without bond until an April 13 hearing.

Jenkins shook his head “no” as charges were read and indicated he will hire an attorney. Haynes told the magistrate he needed a court-appointed attorney until he “made some phone calls.”

"We have charged two individuals, but not with any affiliation with the church," said FBI spokesperson Vicki Anderson.Ms Anderson said FBI received information a few weeks ago regarding allegations of the sexual misconduct involving minors and began an investigation. The crimes are alleged to have occurred over a few years, she added.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Cleveland Division, Toledo Resident Agency, and the United States Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Ohio, announce the arrest of Cordell Jenkins, age 46, and Anthony Haynes, age 37, pursuant to a federal complaint and arrest warrant for sex trafficking of children.

Agents placed Jenkins and Haynes into custody early this morning at their residences in Toledo without incident. Additional law enforcement activity occurred today in regards to this ongoing investigation.

Jenkins and Haynes are accused of knowingly recruiting, enticing, harboring, transporting, providing or obtaining a person(s) that the defendants knew was less than eighteen years old to engage in commercial sex acts. In addition to the above, Haynes is also being charged with Obstruction of Justice and Jenkins is being charged with sexual exploitation of children. Both men will have their initial appearance in U.S. District Court later today.

A complaint is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. The defendants are entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

This investigation was conducted by the FBI’s Northwest Ohio Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force. The Task Force is comprised of members of the FBI, Toledo Police Department, Perrysburg Township Police Department, Lima Police Department, Oregon Police Department, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Lucas County Sheriff's Office.
