'World’s most generous boss' turns 74 staff into millionaires by giving them £1billion in shares

The CEO of a British tech company has made 74 workers at the firm millionaires after handing out more than £1 billion to his employees in shares.

Matt Moulding, who founded The Hut Group in Manchester, said he has gifted around 430 staff shares in the company over the last ten years.

This includes those working as drivers, warehouse operatives, and secretaries at the company.

Speaking to the Mirror, Mr. Moulding said: 'We have created more millionaires than any other company in British corporate history.

'The shares are 100 percent gifted, no-one has had to pay anything. We have genuinely changed so many lives.'

As a result of the spike in share value, 74 employees at the firm have already been turned into millionaires, he said.

Mr. Moulding added that he plans to award more shares to those working for him, with £175 million earmarked for hand out.

Those who have benefited from the massive giveaway include managers, secretaries, and warehouse workers.

A driver, who has worked for the firm for less than two years, got £40,000 from the gifts, which he used to buy a new car and book a dream holiday to the US and Canada next year.

The married father-of-two reportedly has a stake currently worth another £61,000 which he plans to put towards his children’s future.

He told the Mirror: ‘It has changed our lives. It’s something you dream about.’

A senior manager at the company sold up to £100,000 worth of shares to pay for his wedding and the deposit on the couple’s first ‘dream’ home.

The 30-year-old, who started at the firm as an apprentice, still has shares currently worth £600,000.

‘I am from a working class family and this is amazing, and humbling,’ he said. ‘I have young children and this will allow me to help my children.’

Mr. Moulding, who donates his entire £750,000 salary to charity, has a 25 percent stake in the company, which is reportedly worth £1.6billion.

His tech firm is behind brands such as LookFantastic, GlossyBox, MyProtein, exante and MyVitamins. In addition to its brands, investors are especially interested in its online shopping technology, which it licenses to companies such as Asda and Tesco.

Professor Mahmood Yakubu was on Wednesday December 9, sworn-in by President Buhari for his second five-year term as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The event took place at the Executive Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja before the weekly virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting commenced.

It was further learnt that a minute silence was observed in honour of former Minister of Defense, the late Major General Domkat Bali.

Professor Yakubu who spoke to newsmen after being sworn-in, said preparations were already ongoing on how to ensure an acceptable general elections in 2023. He said they are collaborating with the National Assembly to deliver an amended electoral legal framework in record time.

He said;

“We have clearly demonstrated in recent elections that elections are getting better and they will continue to get better.

“The National Assembly is holding a public hearing on the amendment of the electoral legal framework. This is important and this time around, working with the National Assembly, we’ll ensure a speedy passage of the amendment bill and once it is assented to, it will help us enormously in confronting the challenges ahead.

“The preparations for 2023 general elections have proceeded in earnest, we need certainty and therefore the electoral legal framework is fundamental, without which we cannot formulate our regulations and guidelines. Without our regulations and guidelines, we cannot conclude work on the manual for the training of ad-hoc staff for the elections.

“So from here, I am going to proceed to the National Assembly, so work begins in earnest and we have already started."

A woman has been electrocuted in Russia after suffering a massive electric shock when her charging phone fell in her bath.

Olesya Semenova, 24, was found by her flatmate at their home in Russian city Arkhangelsk.

'I screamed, shook her, but she was pale, did not breathe and showed no signs of life,' distraught friend named Daria, an estate agent, told the emergency operator.

'I was really scared. When I touched her, I got an electric shock. There was a smartphone in the water, it was charging.'

Paramedics confirmed that Ms Semenova died in the bath and that her iPhone 8 had fallen into the water when plugged into the mains.

The Russian emergencies ministry issued a warning after the tragedy, the latest of a number of such fatalities in the country.

'The tragedy once again reminds us that water and an electrical appliance connected to the mains are incompatible.

'The same applies to any mobile device.

'If you drown a smartphone, the worst thing is its failure. But when it is connected to the network, we see what the consequences are.'
