President Buhari received the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, in the state House, Abuja today August 31.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who is also a pastor in RCCG and the Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Ibrahim Gambari, were also on hand to receive the clergyman in the statehouse.

Adeboye's visit comes amidst the controversy generated by the newly signed CAMA law that enables the Federal government to remove and replace the board of trustees of any church

While some clergymen have thrown their weight behind the new law, others like Bishop David Oyedepo and Apostle Suleman have come out to vehemently oppose it.

Adeboye is yet to publicly comment on the new law.

COVID-19: Presidential Task Force warns against hasty reopening of schools

COVID-19: Presidential Task Force warns against hasty reopening of schools

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 in Nigeria has warned states against rushing to reopen schools saying such action have escalated COVID-19 management situation in some other countries.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the PTF, Boss Mustapha, speaking on Monday August 31 in Abuja said it would be in the best interest of Nigeria to stick to it's slow phased easing of lockdown rules because it was effective.

“It is in the above context that the PTF appreciates the on-going calls for re-opening of the education sector and indeed some sub-nationals are already making preparations for such.' Boss Mustapha said.

“Whilst the PTF does not discourage making such preparations, we need to be guided by experiences from countries such as Germany, France, the United States and the UK where opening of schools in some cities led to an increase in confirmed cases and fatalities.”

He also said more sectors of the economy may soon be reopened, and that the PTF would present its recommendations to President Muhammadu Buhari this week, which will determine the next phase in the national response.

According to Boss, the last three weeks had shown a slowdown in the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in the country, as in the last four months of testing, the lowest daily figure of confirmed cases (138) was reported on Sunday August 30th.

Mariah Carey reveals she felt ‘extremely uncomfortable’ during Ellen DeGeneres interview pushing her to confirm pregnancy

Mariah Carey reveals she felt ?extremely uncomfortable? during Ellen DeGeneres interview pushing her to confirm pregnancy

Grammy award winning singer, Mariah Carey, has recalled how she felt ‘extremely uncomfortable’ during a 2008 interview with Ellen DeGeneres in which the talk show host forced her to confirm she was pregnant.

Back then, Mariah appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show amid speculation she was expecting a baby with then-husband Nick Cannon.

During the interview, Mariah said that she ‘didn’t want to discuss’ the rumours but Ellen then presented her with champagne so they could ‘toast’ to her not being pregnant.

When Ellen noticed that the Grammy-winning singer pretended to sip the alcohol, she exclaimed: ‘You are pregnant!’

According to Mariah that incident was uncalled for even though Mariah at the time was indeed expecting a baby.  Sadly, she miscarried shortly after.

Reflecting on the interview now, Mariah told Vulture: ‘I was extremely uncomfortable with that moment is all I can say. And I really have had a hard time grappling with the aftermath.’

Explaining why she was reluctant to share the news on the Ellen show, Mariah added: ‘I wasn’t ready to tell anyone because I had had a miscarriage.’

Mariah three years later welcomed twins Moroccan and Monroe, now nine, with ex-husband Nick in 2011.

Mariah’s comments come weeks after Ellen's show was accused of having a toxic environment behind the scenes.

She then referred to the scrutiny currently surrounding Ellen and stated:

‘I don’t want to throw anyone that’s already being thrown under any proverbial bus, but I didn’t enjoy that moment.’  ‘[There’s] an empathy that can be applied to those moments that I would have liked to have been implemented. But what am I supposed to do? It’s like, [sings] “What are you going to do?”’ Mariah added.
