Those who feel they have another place asides Nigeria to call their country, can go- President Buhari says

President Buhari has advised Nigerians to remain faithful and loyal to the country and that those who have another place they can go to other than Nigeria, should proceed as soon as possible.

Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, quoted President Buhari as saying this when he received APC governorship aspirants and members of the party from the three senatorial zones of Kwara State at the state house yesterday, October 22nd.

“You don’t have to be in uniform to be loyal. What I said long ago in 1984 is still valid today. We have no other country but Nigeria. Others who feel they have another country may choose to go. We will stay here and salvage it together,” he said.

''No plan to impeach Governor Ambode for now'' - Lagos House of Assembly speaker, Mudashiru Obasa says

The Speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa says the house has no agenda to impeach the state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, for now.

The speaker stated this during plenary yesterday while reacting to reports that he threatened to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Ambode if he fails to open the state treasury. Obasa while denying the report, said there is no truth to the allegation. According to the speaker, the state governor has not done anything to warrant his impeachment for now

“This allegation is frivolous and misleading. We need to clear the air on this fabrication that has been making the rounds both online and other media outlets that the Assembly is planning to impeach the governor. For now, the House is not planning to impeach Governor Ambode and if this will happen, it has to be done the right way. “We don’t need wailers to tell us how to go about our legislative duties. We are not planning to impeach Governor Ambode and even if the house is planning to do that, it won’t be done in secrecy as impeachment is constitutional and democratic.” he said

Recall Governor Ambode was alleged to have been faced with impeachment proceedings following his faceoff with his godfather and former governor of the state, Bola Tinubu, over the APC governorship ticket which he lost to Babajide Sanwaolu

'Let us make our Kaduna State a place of peace' - Governor El-Rufai speaks on crisis that left over 50 people dead

Here's the full text of a state broadcast by Nasir El-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State regarding the communal crisis that has left scores of people dead.

'I address you today with a heavy heart, saddened by the violence and loss of lives in parts of our state since Thursday, 18th October 2018, when unrest broke out in Kasuwan Magani. The state government promptly imposed a curfew in the area' he said.

Read the full statement below...

We visited Kasuwan Magani on Friday, 19th October 2018 to see things for ourselves, to commiserate with the people and to assess the security situation, which had by then become calm. We condemn the violence, and extend our sympathy to the victims, survivors and their families. I assure everyone affected that we will seek justice for them, and clearly underline that criminals will be punished according to law.

We were appalled by the sense of panic that was triggered by rumours across several of our communities on Sunday, 21st October 2018, a situation that hoodlums exploited to engage in criminal activity and to violate the rights of other citizens. The aftermath of the disinformation and resulting panic led to the death of 5 citizens, injuries to many more and destruction of property within Kaduna metropolis.

The Kaduna State Government was therefore compelled to declare a 24-hour curfew in the metropolis to stem the proliferation of false rumours, prevent the spread of chaos and to enable the security agencies to restore calm. All night yesterday and throughout today, we have gone round affected areas, visited hospitals, interacted with communities and counseled against reliance on unsubstantiated information.

My colleagues and I have visited the injured in the hospital, and inspected parts of the state capital in the early hours of this morning. The security agents we met manning our streets in the hours before dawn gave us updates that indicated that the overnight security operations were achieving the objective of restoring calm.

Dear People of Kaduna State, I wish to inform you that the Kaduna State Security Council met this morning. Following this meeting, the Deputy Governor and I have led a team of senior state government and security officials to various parts of Kaduna metropolis, and beyond. It was reassuring to find that the situation is calm, and that residents are complying with the curfew and cooperating with the security agencies. While the degree of compliance with the curfew is credible, I wish to urge everyone to reflect honestly and commit to firmly rejecting those who seek to incite and divide us.

As your governor, I call on all residents of Kaduna State to do their best to uphold peace and harmony. No one gains from a situation of chaos. The ultimate guarantee of peaceful coexistence is the willingness of individuals and our communities to live in peace. Harmony in our land requires a commitment to obey the law, and to use only peaceful and lawful means to resolve differences.

The diversity of Kaduna State is real. It is a blessing of the Almighty God. No one will be allowed to tamper with this gift. The right bestowed by the Constitution allowing every citizen to live where they choose will be vigorously upheld by your government.

To enforce these rights, this government will work to fast track the prosecution of at least 25 persons arrested for the recent incident, as well as the 63 persons arrested during the February 2018 episode in Kasuwan Magani. It is clear to us that unless people are seen to be expeditiously punished for such criminal acts, impunity and reckless disregard for human life and property will continue.

Having reviewed the security situation today, the State Security Council will reconvene at 9am, tomorrow, Tuesday, 23rd October to consider whether it is expedient to relax the duration and timing of the curfew in place. Further announcements on this will be made in due course based on the evaluation of the security agencies.

The Kaduna State Government regrets the inconvenience imposed on our citizens by the curfews in Kasuwan Magani, Kujama and the Kaduna Metropolis, and assure all that the difficult decisions were taken in the public interest to protect the lives, livelihoods and property of our people.

To mitigate the inconvenience of commuters passing through Kaduna to other parts of our nation, the security agencies have been directed to make arrangements to escort approved vehicles from the Rigasa train station, Kaduna International Airport and entrance and exit points from and to Abuja, Lagos, Zaria, Kachia and Jos at regular intervals.

It is gratifying that Kaduna State is not alone in this moment of trial. On behalf of the government and people of Kaduna State, I wish to express my gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government of Nigeria for promptly making available federal security assets to assist us. I thank the National Security Adviser for his kind support and the Inspector-General of Police who deployed AIG Taiwo Lakanu and a special intervention force to strengthen the efforts of the Kaduna State Police Command.

I wish to acknowledge the sterling efforts of the security agencies to uphold calm and enforce order in our state. I pay tribute to the Army, the Airforce, the Navy and the Civil Defence Corps for their valiant efforts. The Vigilance Service and other voluntary security groups also performed admirably in restoring calm.

The cause of peace has also benefited from our Peace Commission, and the contributions of our traditional and religious leaders who have worked to ensure that there is no escalation. We are grateful to their Royal Highnesses, the Emir of Zazzau and the Esu Chikun for their sterling leadership and counsel.

Let us make our Kaduna State a place of peace. The alternative is in no one’s interest. As your governor, I will continue to do my duty to assert and protect everyone’s right to live in peace. We will vigorously intensify security presence, prosecute offenders and continue to build peace and confidence across our communities. Let us all do it together.

God bless Kaduna State!
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria

UFC star Conor McGregor admits he was severly beaten by Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229

Irish UFC star, Conor McGregor has admitted he was given a good beating by Russia's undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov during their lightweight title bout in Las Vegas which went down earlier this month.

The 30-year-old took to his Instagram page to share his thought on the fight which followed by a mass brawl that led to both men receiving temporary suspensions from the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

According to Irishman, he underestimated parts of Nurmagomedov's fighting style and added that the fight was 'fair and square' at UFC 229 but will bounce back from the defeat.

He wrote:

Thoughts on my last fight.
Round 1. I believe from a sport standpoint, round 1 was his. Top position against the fence. Zero position advancement or damage inflicted. But top position.

From a fight standpoint, the first round is mine.
Actual shots landed and a willingness to engage. Straight left early. Knee to the head on the low shot. Elbows in any and all tie up scenarios. Opponent just holding the legs against the fence for almost the entire round.

Round 2 he is running away around the cage before being blessed with a right hand that changed the course of the round, and the fight.
It was a nice shot.

After the shot I bounced back up to engage instantly, but again he dipped under to disengage. That is the sport and it was a smart move that led to a dominant round, so no issue. Well played.

If I stay switched on and give his stand up even a little more respect, that right hand never gets close and we are talking completely different now.
I gave his upright fighting no respect in preparation. No specific stand up spars whatsoever. Attacking grapplers/wrestlers only. That won’t happen again.

I also gave my attacking grappling no respect. To defense minded.
Lessons.
Listen to nobody but yourself on your skill set.
You are the master of your own universe.
I am the master of this.
I must take my own advice.

Round 3. After the worst round of my fighting career, I come back and win this round. Again walking forward, walking him down, and willing to engage.

Round 4. My recovery was not where it could have been here.
That is my fault. Although winning the early exchanges in 4, he dips under again and I end up in a bad position with over 3 on the clock. I work to regain position and end up upright, with my back to the fence.
A stable position.

Here however, I made a critical error of abandoning my over hook at this crucial time, exposing the back, and I end up beaten fair and square.

What can I say?
It was a great fight and it was my pleasure.
I will be back with my confidence high.
Fully prepared.
If it is not the rematch right away, no problem.
I will face the next in line.
It’s all me always, anyway.
See you soon my fighting fans I love you all ?

Engineer manages to save a boy's life in spite of hindrances he encountered at the hospital

An engineer came to the rescue of a helpless couple and their dying son only to encounter several hindrances that could have cost the child's life when he took the child to the hospital.

Deadag Philemon said the parents were so poor they could only sit by and watch their child dying. But he stepped in and took the child to the hospital where it was discovered that the child needed blood urgently.

But the blood was too expensive and Deadag wondered why, considering that they ask people to donate for free. He eventually donated his own blood but still had to pay 6,000 Naira for it to be given to the child. Not all of it was transfused into the child and the rest was thrown away due to lack of storage facilities.

Deadag wrote on Facebook:

I got home this afternoon only to see my neighbor's child gasping his last breath. The father and mother of the baby were already crying, I asked wat the matter was and they said the child has been sick since morning but no dime on them to take him to the hospital for medication(they are just poor Farmers who feed from hand to mouth). I immediately rushed them to the hospital, even money for bike they couldn't afford, to tell u how serious the situation was.
Wen we got to the hospital, the doctor demanded that the child needs a blood transfusion and that the blood will cost a #15,000. I pleaded for #10,000 and even up to #12,000 but the doctor refused.
My question is "why sensitize people to come for a free blood donation and sell it this expensive"? To cut the story short, I decided to donate mine after a proper screening since I'm a universal donor, which I still paid #6,000 since I was to donate.
The most annoying thing is, they didn't finish the full pant of blood on the baby. The remaining half was thrown away bcos according to them, there's no way they could preserve it. Why are we like this in this country? That blood could have at least been preserved so the next person can get it at a cheaper rate.
But tanx be to God, as I speak the boy is back to life, in his mother's hands eating right now, though after a very huge sum has been spent. Glory be to God. If not for God, this is how this little and innocent boy will lost his life today
