Twitter drags Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah for commissioning gutter and gully erosion projects (Photos)

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah on Friday commissioned what he called Gully Erosion and Flood Control Project in Akpene Eket, Akwa Ibom.

The minister who was representing President Buhari at the commissioning said the project was necessitated by erosions and flooding in the area and its environs.

"The project is one of 26 Aso Rock's ecological intervention projects awarded last year and executed through the Ecological Fund Office (EFO) in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF). President Buhari's administration promised and is committed to ensure that no part of the country suffers neglect, irrespective of geographical location or political considerations. The intervention will curtail the danger to lives and properties posed by flooding and erosion" he tweeted.

Enelamah, following public backlash, sought to clarify that the project was more than just a gutter and culvert.

"Three different sites were reclaimed and filled. Whole streets like the one we walked on during the commissioning were reclaimed & tarred. Drainage rechannelled to prevent flooding. The gutter is only an outlet" he tweeted.
